Great well spaced sites. Looks like every site had a view of the lake. We stayed at site 26 and had two trailheads at our door. We stayed one night on our way through to Florida. There didn't seem to be a gate they closed at night. Only complaints are minor for a one night stay. No Wi-Fi and kids playground was not within walking distance of the campsites. We would stay here again. We camped at Trace State Park in a Travel Trailer.

We were looking for a campground in the area to break up a long drive. We're self contained and don't use the facilities. We stayed here on a weeknight in October.

This is a small, pleasant campground. There are 4 different areas, we stayed in Deer Run. There were several sites on Trace Lake with nice views. There is space between the sites and most have shade. Verizon and ATT coverage were ok. We camped at Trace State Park in a Motorhome.

Take it slow on the road into the campground. Very quiet CG on the water. We were on site 12 in a 40' 5th wheel. Trees on both sides, but we made it in. The road into the campground is horrible with MANY POTHOLES; that aside. Plenty of space for our 2 dogs (weims) to exercise and very nice neighbors. We stayed a week and will come back again. We camped at Trace State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

This is a really nice State park. The overall park is quite large but camping and RV areas are separated into several small areas. Nearly every site is on the lake or has a lake view. There is no WiFi and satellite probably will not work well because of all the trees. There are miles of walking and hiking trails. Great water pressure and 30/50 amp elec. hook-ups. If you are a senior - overnight rates are $15 - what a deal. We had a 40' rv and towing. No problems and did not have to unhook to navigate the area. We camped at Trace State Park in a Motorhome.

The park is what an RV park should be. Full hookups at every site in Deer Run Loop. Tall pine trees dot the park. All but two sites back up to the lake. Sites on the east give a clear view of the sun rise and on the west, the sunset. In park amenities include fishing, hiking trails, Bike trails and a whole lot more. While there are water sports, there is no swimming and the water level has been drawn down due to a problem with the a levee. The entrance road is in need of resurfacing but the it's worth it. We camped at Trace State Park in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

Antique stores line Main street of Pontotoc. Tupelo Flea Market is about 6 miles to the east. So there is something to do for the sports person and those with other interests.

Love all Mississippi state parks. Our site was #26. Level on the lake. Site is a built up area but plenty room. Lots of dead wood around to use for your camp fire. Lake is still low due to need for repairs. Close to Tupelo shopping. I did not see any bad sites at this park. Staff friendly, bath houses clean. Park clean. Second visit for us. Will be back. We camped at Trace State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

The park is a beautifully designed park. Most sites back on to a lake so you can just walk to the waters edge. All sites in the Deer Run section are full hookups Some are 50 amp. Tall pine trees give shade from the full heat of the sun. I visited the bath house at Deer Run, and was very disappointed to find only one shower stall and only a small bench to hold you clothes. This bath house is NOT handicap accessible. Located about 5 miles off high way 278, the entry road is in need of repaving. But the drive it worth it. I saw several deer, rabbit and other wild critters. I really enjoyed the quiet Relaxing park. Be sure to make reversions because the park fills up quickly on the weekends. We camped at Trace State Park in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

Tupelo is 6 miles from the park should you wish to shop or dine. The Natchez Trace is near if you wish to curse it. In the other direction you will find antique shop line Main street in Pontotoc. While there we had lunch a Austins on Main street. Good food, good service. Get there early.

Fantastic State Park situated on a lake with paved, full hookup sites, well spaced in a grassy / wooded setting with excellent views of the lake. This may very well be one of the finest State Parks we've stayed in. Many activities were available right in the park such as boat ramps, picnic areas, disc golf and free greens fees (2 rounds) at a nearby golf course. Verizon cell and data signal available. $24 for premium sites right on the lake, $20 for non-premium full hook-up sites. Although ours was non-premium it was still right on the lake. We camped at Trace State Park in a Travel Trailer.

Beautiful campground laid out around a lake. Sites are long and level concrete pads. Many are shady and have sewer. It is fairly close to a major road so there was some road noise. After 3 o’clock there was a lot of noisy activity on the lake. Good TV reception. Most of the trails allow ATVs and dirt bikes which is good if you enjoy that sort of thing but not if you are looking for a tranquil walking trail. No alcohol allowed or motorized toys; great bathrooms and the best laundry of any park with reasonable charges. They are putting in a new campground near the trail head. Unfortunately they clear cut and it will be years before there is any shade. We camped at Trace State Park in a Motorhome.

Senior rate (65+) for a full hookup site (#24). Very nice State Park campground located on a lake. All sites have nice views of the lake. Access road to the park is quite rough but the campground is worth the drive. It is a nice layover if you are driving the Natchez Trace. We were here for one night before taking delivery of our new RV at Sherman RV located 20 miles away. We would camp here again. We camped at Trace State Park in a Motorhome.

Very nice state park. The restrooms were clean, power and water was good. Our spot was right on the lake. Lots of tree's so satellite was a no go for us. If you fish it's a great place even though we didn't see anyone catch anything. Being from out of state we didn't fish but enjoyed our stay. We would come back. We camped at Trace State Park in a Motorhome.

This state park is located on a large lake about 10 miles west of Tupelo with two camping areas set on adjacent points of land. No swimming permitted in the surrounding waters, but boating is allowed. Site spacing is good and all sites are paved. Due to its remote location, the park is very quiet at night. Being distant from populated areas, only several TV stations are available over the air and their signals are weak. Verizon wireless signals were also poor. This is a great place to stay for a few days in order to escape the chaos of the everyday world. We camped at Trace State Park in a Motorhome.

This is a nice park. It was very quiet and peaceful, but we did stay here during the weekday when the park was not filled. The roads in the park are very chewed up. Drive slowly to avoid most of the pot holes. There are two RV campground loops, Deer Run and Eagle Ridge. Deer Run is older and is more crowded then Eagle Ridge. Eagle Ridge had new bathrooms, a laundry facility and a small conference room. Deer Run had mostly 20/30 amp electricity with water, whereas Eagle Ridge had mostly 30/50 amp electricity with water and sewer. The garbage dump was located just before the turn off to Eagle Ridge making it about ¼ mile walk. The interior roads and sites were paved. Many of the pads within the Deer Run were in disrepair. We stayed at the Eagle Ridge loop. The electrical utilities, sewer and water were all located at the back of the site. Verizon cell phone worked well, but the Verizon air card signal was very weak. Electrical voltage was strong. The bathrooms and showers were clean. We were surprised to see long term residents. This state park allows campers to stay 3 months with the option to stay longer. We don’t know if all state parks in Mississippi have this policy. We would come back again. We camped at Trace State Park in a Fifth Wheel.
