Jun 2007 - $8.00
We camped there in a motor home as Coast to Coast members. The park is several miles off the main road on fairly well maintained roads. We were the only campers the night we stayed. The sites were sand and dirt with pine trees with dirt road access. The management was very friendly. The park is just a little too remote for our taste. - Juandering
Feb 2007 - $8.00
We were a bit hesitant to visit this park as a result of a previous visitor's review. I made the decision to go ahead and visit the park because I felt that the previous review was just too "wild" to be accurate. My hunch was correct. There was a small ditch a few inches deep washed out on one side of the site access road, but nothing that would not be easily crossed by a motorhome or combination RV. Some daytime as well as some nighttime training exercises took place during our 3 day stay. Some artillery and machine gun noise was heard, not felt (this should be expected in close proximity to a military training base.) One also must realize that, as the name indicates, this is as much a hunting lodge as a resort campground. All in all, the people at the park were very helpful, courteous and friendly, the grounds were reasonably maintained, and we had a nice stay and will not hesitate to camp there again if travels take us back to that area. Internet access would have been nice, but it was made clear prior to making reservations that access was not available. - john3347
Jan 2007 - $8.00
A lot has changed since the previous reviewer posted. Half of the 30 sites are now only accessable through a very large erosion ditch going down one side of the access road. We wouldn't even attempt those sites in our motorhome. Although we went through 2 nights of tornado watches, the worst part of our stay there was Camp Shelby. Our final night we were awoke at 1:30am by 2 very large explosions from heavy artillery from the camp. Obviously way off course. We were again jolted out of bed at 4:30am by 2 more shells, this time much closer. Even though we had our jacks down, our coach rocked more than 12 inches by the concussion of the blasts. One more and we were ready to call 911 to have the shelling stopped (as we would have been pulling out!). We didn't get much sleep that night. A rustic beauty of a place but we will not be returning to this place! - Dan and Sarah

This park we stayed over 1 night. The restrooms were dirty and could use an update. I had to do laundry and their facilities were ok at best. Laundry was reasonably priced. There was a small pond and a pool. - TravelinFam
Jul 2017 - $23.00
I pay by the month. Best rate around. Friendly! Been there 3 years. I see people come through drive through site, but I have a permanent site. Retire and move 2018. Will miss the friends I made and will return to visit!
Have a newly modeled swimming pool and a new watch crew. They are doing some great remodeling in the play area. Has a dog walking area fenced in,awesome and great for my Aussie. Love relaxing by the pond and feeding the fish! At night saw two huge catfish! - Sandy_two2

We stayed in this campground for 3 days Excellent hosts. The campground was clean and well maintained. They even gave us a tour of Hattiesburg and couldn't do enough for us We would stay there again. - Dotty Weis
Jun 2014 - $23.00
Electric & water problems which caused damage to RV equipment; broken car & RV windows caused by lawn service (the only damage that was reimbursed). Wi-Fi never works; dirt site not level and needed constant adjustments; 6” of water pooled at front door when it rained (every afternoon in summer). Damage to outdoor items when owners cut down a tree which fell 3 ft from our RV. MANY undesirables with ragged shower curtain tents and ragged RVs that are no longer fully functioning. Caters to the poor, disabled and those feigning disability (quite a few). Mississippi is an open carry state so owners shot neighborhood cats next to our RV; owners were shooting blindly into woods after report of trespasser rather calling police; owners and some residents have guns strapped on their waist and use for almost ANY reason. One long term camper with a body and paint shop inside a tent. No amenities, but cheap. Owners not responsive to complaints, and will not reimburse damage voluntarily. Just not what we would consider a safe place to park for any length of time. - LIAB
Feb 2014 - $23.00
What's right: The sites are bigger than most private parks and are grassy. The grounds are professionally cared for. The roads are gravel. Some sites have concrete pads, others are dirt. Many have shaded yards for at least part of the day. The only amenity is a laundry room with 2 washers and 2 dryers. It is very clean. It is close to a state park where fishing and camping is allowed. It allows pets on leash and they are sticklers for this. Some tenants have sheds. Whats wrong: There were many old ratty RVs and trailers, and their sites looked as if they had been there quite a while gathering junk and trash. Several looked like hoarders. There was one really nice RV but next door was a dump with a three foot tall pile of trash. Tarps hung on roofs and fences from front to back. We spoke to a camper before we moved in who told us it was mostly military and disabled. But while I was there I had a lady who cooked drugs at night in her RV next to mine. An ex-HS teacher and his student girlfriend and their child. Asked to watch another elderly man's 23 year-old wife and report her activity to the office. And a couple on disability that looked like they were opening a junk store next to my RV. Prior to this there was the man who was allowed to rebuild a car in his lot including the priming and painting! Right next to another RV and across the street from one that looked expensive! All with the knowledge and/or consent of the park owners. Hence the cheap monthly rent of $295. I needed a place longer than I stayed but just could not keep feeling unsafe and like I was living in the twilight zone. - Jilliebean

Apr 2018 - $28.00
Beautiful grassy treed setting on Geiger Lake. Roads and sites are paved with concrete patios for concrete and wood picnic tables. The campground needs some maintenance as many picnic tables are broken, showers and toilets are decrepit and the grounds have a lot of torn up muddy areas. Even with these drawbacks we enjoyed staying here and would return. - Appleknocker
Oct 2017 - $15.00
The best campgrounds yet. I don't think they are any nicer. Great staff, beautiful view. Quite level pads, good roads, a little out of the way, but very well worth it Stay a couple days- weeks or longer. They won't mind. - Johnjean
Sep 2017 - $15.00
We were running from Hurricane Irma so I'm not sure if the daily rate was a special for evacuees. This is a lovely park on a beautiful lake with an interesting entrance where you drive across an active spillway. The roads were paved, the sites were concrete for the unit with a separate concrete pad with a picnic table. Some sites back up to the lake. Our loop was a very long way from the bathhouse.. Laundry area needed some attention. It was beautiful here. We loved it and would return. - R&S

No sign anywhere for campground. We had rung days earlier to confirm if cable TV had ESPN as we avidly follow World Cup Soccer. They rang back to say they had ESPN. When we arrived, the ESPN was very grainy with no audio. Most other channels were grainy also. Very disappointing. Wi-fi worked fine. No extra charge. - AussieRV

I've been here for several months working in the area. The store has hot meals and fast food. It has been real convenient because when I get home from working 10-12 hour days I don't feel like going anywhere. I call on my way home and pick the food up when I get in. People here are very nice. Don't know how much longer this job will last but I have made this place my home away from home. I've referred some buddies that stay here too. - jaybrown1955

We were very pleased with the cleanliness of our site and the public facilities (bathrooms). The staff was very friendly. Although they have a laundry facility onsite, we didn't use it. But it was very clean. We will be returning for vacations. - Davidson Family

Reviews from previous years has me concerned. Overall it was great. We stayed in Mohawk camp area that now has sewage. The roads are red dirt and the sites are gravel and uneven but we made the best of it. Park employees were seen all the time working. I would go back again. - Roscoe201
Jan 2017 - $25.00
Loved Flint Creek until they installed the employees in the premium sites in the Mohawk area. One employee takes up a double site. Permanent decks, lights, looks really ghetto. Park hosts place is disgusting. Not a pretty site as you drive in. Limited premium sites to begin with but looks like employees are more important. Cigarette butts are a real problem also and would not dream of setting foot in the rest room or shower area. And liked it better when it was wooded. - DianneH

The cleanliness was really bad. We had to clean the bathroom up just in order to use it properly. They really need to invest in new cleaning personnel. We will never return. - Davidson Family

Stayed for one night and as others have said the sites are a bit challenging when it comes to levelling. We managed though and the hook ups were fine except for the water at our site didn't work but we just hooked up to the one next to us. Not an issue since there wasn't anyone coming in. There were a few families camping and a couple of others so we felt comfortable. Quiet and the lake was pretty. It's a nice event center we used to come to for dog agility trials and never knew the lake or RV area was here. We will definitely return since the price is good and it serves our needs. - tb919
Sep 2016 - $20.00
We stopped at Forrest County Park twice within a seven day period. The park is no frills but it provides a great place to overnight. All the hookups worked great. It's a pick your own spot, pay on your way out kinda place. Some sites would require more leveling than others, but all would be serviceable. We would definitely stop here again for an overnight. Plus being in a college town, your choices for eating out are pretty good! - reuben james
Apr 2015 - $20.00
This is a campground near the event center and horse stables. I imagine for special events, this park would be perfect for the location. When we stayed there were only 4 other rigs in the park and none looked like they were occupied. For us, it was a great option for an overnight (vs Walmart) so that we could have full hookups. Sites are not very level and hookups are all in the back of the site which can be a bit challenging. Our sewer hookup didn't have a cap around it, so it was basically just a hole in the ground that we set our hose into. Not ideal, but it worked. The office is in the main auditorium, about 1/2 mile from the park. We paid $20 cash and could pick whichever site we wanted, which was nice. No wifi, but satellite was not a problem (no trees, just a large parking lot). Easy access for a big-rig. - tmiller505

Sep 2017 - $33.00
My husband and I stayed for 3 nights in our travel trailer with our 3 small dogs. The grounds were beautifully maintained. We enjoyed the sunset over the lake every evening. We mainly camp to relax so we mainly spent our time walking, cooking out, and playing with the dogs. We did not try out the disk golf, zip lines, or rent a canoe. The RV sites in the small loop where we stayed were pretty far apart. The concrete pad for your RV is not very wide so bring a rug for your chairs unless you don't mind sitting in the dirt. Some of the sites had wooden decks so this would not be a problem. - MissBamaNurse
May 2017 - $28.00
My family was extremely disappointed with our trip. We paid for 5 nights and ended up leaving 2 days early because the park began to fill up with not 1 or 2 loud obnoxious campers but almost the whole camping area was taken over by locals, with loud music blaring from their golf carts driven by intoxicated adults, while children and pets roamed free. Obviously those who came knew that there was a lack of authority and that management did not enforce their own rules, and used the campground for a party spot, not actual "camping". It was not a kid-friendly atmosphere once the party showed up, which was just getting started (which is why we left early)...very disappointing. Also the lake is full of stumps that are hard to see for boaters when the water is high. - bmz03

Jul 2014 - $38.00
We stayed here due to location only. The grounds maintenance was satisfactory, but there were a lot of old run down campers and several trashy sites. WIFI was pretty much useless. Drug use and thefts were evident. Police presence had increased much throughout our stay. We moved to Shady Cove RV Park in Hattiesburg, MS and paid a month's rent. Afterwards, we found out both parks have the same owner. We are looking forward to leaving there also. - Terry5048

We stayed in a tent site. It was very large and shaded. The river was awesome, but bring water shoes. Great family park for first time campers. There are several permanent residents. - User1201

We stayed her June 2009 for about a week. It was nice a little rustic but right on a creek, could use a few more trees and maybe an additional shower with better flow. The staff we nice and we plan to camp there again this June. - dbourg1964
