We actually stay here long term. We love it here. Family friendly, nice lake, pool for the kids, Owner is a great guy. General store is well stocked and has fresh eggs from the resident hens. Loads of ducks and geese, goats and a mini horse to pet. Laundry room is well maintained. Brand new bath house on the entrance side. Beautiful setting. We camped at Askew's Landing Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Rough paved road leading to campground and hard pack sand/gravel in CG. Large pull thru site but overnighters located in a low area that was grass, probably would be bad in rainy weather. Cash or check only and no discount. Overnight stay ok but wouldn't choose this CG unless interested in the lake or fishing. We camped at Askew's Landing Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

More of a "fish" camp and full of campers, than an RV park. A long 2 1/2 drive on a very narrow road culminating in a single lane gravel road around a beautiful lake to the office. Sites are in a field or among the trees and are on grass. I would not stay again. We camped at Askew's Landing Campground in a Motorhome.

Our site had plenty of room to park our jeep. It was Halloween weekend and we had a great time! There were hayrides, RV trick or treating, costume contests, an RV decorating contest and night time karaoke. A huge bonfire was set up but unfortunately could not be lit because of a statewide burn ban. This is definitely a family friendly campground. Our four children played and rode their bikes for hours...making new friends everywhere they went. A concrete basketball pad sits near a very large field that was perfect for an all ages football game. There is an enclosed area with farm animals to pet. There are dozens of geese and ducks to feed. The pool was covered for the winter season. It was quiet and everyone was very friendly. The store was very well-stocked and was decorated fabulously for Halloween. Our site was level and the ground very hard packed. We will definitely come back to Askew's Landing Campground!! We camped at Askew's Landing Campground in a Motorhome.

This campground is 30 minutes from Jackson to the east and 20 minutes from historic Vicksburg to the west. Super nice getaway while close enough to shop and run errands during the day. Very easy to get in and out of campground

I can't say enough about this park. The owner is great, we had a problem with our Motorhome he offered us his 5 wheel until we had repairs done. He keeps this beautful pk well maintained. We would stay here again. We camped at Askew's Landing Campground in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Good staging area for Vicksburg activities. The camp, Bridgeport Plantation is an actual Civil War battle site.

Mississippi's best kept secret on one of it's worst kept roads.

Arrived during the heavy rains/ flooding and was a bit concerned about parking in a grass field. We stopped the tandems on what appeared to be rocks and we had no trouble leaving the next morning. We did leave ruts in the grass. The beautiful lake was filled to capacity and was dumping over the access road... they do mark the road edges with small flagging so it was easy to see. For an overnight stay, you will most likely be in an open area. We camped at Askew's Landing Campground in a Motorhome.

Askews was a little slice of heaven after a long day on I-20. Owners were wonderful, so friendly and helpful. The whole property is woodland with two lakes full of fish and ducks.

Bathhouse was clean and warm.

Park was very quiet for a excellent night sleep.

A must stay. We camped at Askew's Landing Campground in a Motorhome.

The place looks nice till you start looking closer at it. There was 1 bathroom for 50 people in our area . With 1 toilet and 1 shower that was working in it. There was years of mold on the shower curtains . The flys at this place were massive. The maintenance were notified for 2 days about a problem with the bathrooms at the pool. They never addressed them till they made an announcement that the kids had broken the bathroom. How is it that the kids are to blame for something that was brought to their attention before the kids showed up. The fishing in the lake is a joke. It is off balanced and most bass are 7 inches long . Yes you have a few that are 5 pounds, but they need to redo the lake. It has more stumps in the middle of the lake and I got my boat stuck 3 times in the very center . The pool smelt terrible even on day one. There were condoms floating in it. Their staff made it a point to say he was the personal body guard of someone there with his gun on his hip . It is very unprofessional to do that when there were already tension with that family member. I would not recommend this camp ground to anyone . You have a nicer camping experience at Roosevelt or even jelly stone camping . We camped at Askew's Landing Campground in a Tent.

This campground is located on a private lake. The sites are grass with a little gravel. There is a pool that is not used. The bathrooms badly need to be rebuilt. Besides being very dirty, the un-level bath floors are very spongy, like you'd fall through if you gained 5 lbs. There are mostly permanent residents here. Birds (in outdoor cages), and horses & goats (in a corral) are kept here. The office porch is fully decorated for Halloween, but that doesn't make up for terrible bathrooms. We camped at Askew's Landing Campground in a Motorhome.

Very nice CG with open spaces, woodsy and lake views. Lots of ducks and geese in the lake. The land driving into the CG and surrounding the CG, is gorgeous. The CG owner is very helpful and hospitable. There are permanent campers on the outer edges, but they are out of the way and not a problem at all. Our site had no shade, but there are shady sites available. The WiFi worked very well, and we were able to use our satellite for TV as our site had no trees. Pull-through site is a mix of gravel and grass and is very solid and level. No credit cards taken, but will take a check. Easy 15-20 minute drive to Vicksburg. We would stay here again. We camped at Askew's Landing Campground in a Motorhome.

This is a very nice park with large spaces, lots of pull-throughs and great views of the pond and lake. The owners were very nice and helpful, lending us a CD tour of the Vicksburg battlefield and making restaurant recommendations. We only stayed two nights and were out sightseeing most of the time, but we would come back if we wanted some peace and quiet. Pretty convenient to Vicksburg (20-minute drive) and to the Natchez Trace. We camped at Askew's Landing Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

The location and grounds of this campground was just what we wanted. Set back away from any noise, and located on their own private pond, this is one of the most quiet campgrounds we have ever stayed. The staff was very accommodating and checked in with us a few times to make sure everything was alright. The sites were large, flat, and easy to access. We camped at Askew's Landing Campground in a Travel Trailer.

We stayed here for a night while following the Natchez Trace because it was reasonably close for visiting Vicksburg. This is a rural campground, very quiet and picturesque with a wide open feel. The sites are decently spaced, all grass, no patio or tables and you will need to level the RV side to side. At 113V, their 50 amp service registered the lowest voltage we've seen in a while. Our electrical use was nominal so it did not pose a problem. It had rained prior to our arrival and there was standing water in sections of the roadway. The ground around the site was firm although our shoes picked up a bit of mud. They have WiFi but we didn't get the pass code and forgot to ask. Over the air TV reception was decent. They also have a small pool which was closed for the winter. The gravel entrance road is narrow and only one lane as it winds around the fishing lake but it presents a beautiful introduction to the park. There are a number of permanent campers primarily tucked into the perimeter woods. Some are typical of long-term stays. The main building and pavilion are rustic and, as others have mentioned, the campground has an old-time feel. We would stay here again. One word of warning - follow the park's directions for getting to the campground. If you decide to follow your infallible GPS and it directs you to Goat Hill road - you are going the wrong direction! We camped at Askew's Landing Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Unexpected. This CG is on the site of an old plantation, near the Civil War 1863 battlefield at Black River. The road is well maintained gravel and the CG is mowed grass around a lake and pond home of perch, brim, bass and catfish and countless ducks and geese. The manager is great and maintains the grounds and amenities with pride. Thirty & fifty AMP available. Not all of the sites have sewer, but there is a handy dump station. The building are more dated, but kept clean and neat. All the RV sites are in a huge grassy area-some trees. Wi-fi is strong and HDTV on the air was just fine. A must see while here is the Vicksburg Civil War National Military Park, where you can spend a full day and still not see all there is to see, including the U.S. Military Cemetery and the U.S.S. Cairo museum. This CG is a well kept secret and worth the effort. We enjoyed our stay here and will return. We camped at Askew's Landing Campground in a Fifth Wheel.
