We stayed just one night in a 40 foot fifth wheel. We don't typically rate overnight stops but this one is special. This is one of eight water parks that are part of the Pat Harrison Waterway System. The sites were full hookup, 50 amp, large level sites, in a great location with a great view. We were here in the fall and the weather was cold with a significant freeze coming. The park was nearly deserted but it looks like the kind of place that would be hopping during the summer time. The park is very well maintained and simply beautiful. I would definitely stay here longer if plans allowed. Sorry but too cold and rainy for photos. You might prefer a back-in site as they too had plenty of room. The pull thru sites in this loop had patios that faced the road which I am not at all fond of. - Moe and Flo are on the go
Apr 2018 - $22.00
Roads paved a bit tight in a few places. Sites: paved with 20/30/50 amp power, water and sewer. Mostly level but maybe at extremes of leveling system. Note on sewer - pay attention to location of sewer when positioning your rig. I had to use 2 hoses and back up 15' to reach the connection. Bathrooms and showers were clean. Showers had good pressure and plenty of hot water. Verizon phone and Mifi worked fine. No CG wifi. Host helpful and friendly. Reservations are made by phone only. It has a nice little lake for paddling around in and allows water skiing and jet skies. Nice quiet park with good facilities. We'd stay here again. - pumper9x9
Mar 2018 - $24.00
Stayed here for a weekend to visit family. Park staff were very accommodating and helpful. The fire rings had some trash in them but otherwise the park was very clean and well kept. - AGCampingCrew
Nov 2018 - $25.00
Nice spot to stay and get caught up on laundry and grocery shopping. The plus is it’s the home of Our Home Town from HGTV (the reason we stopped). Upon our arrival we were given the MS official tour guide with an article about Erin and Ben the stars of Our Home Town. Great place to stop felt like we were in a park in Wisconsin beautiful. Even tho it rained most of the time we were here we made the best of it. - pam.4him
Aug 2016 - $29.00
Stayed two nights. Park needs some updating. Pool was green. Site was gravel. Everything worked well. Second day woke up to ants everywhere in RV and tow vehicle. Had to spray. Still have occasional ants over a week later. Owner was a very nice gentleman and was helpful. Didn't tell him about ants as we left very early on departure. - Rvontheroad
Jan 2016 - $30.00
I can't say enough about the good people at this park. I injured my shoulder and couldn't drive for 30 days. The manager and his maintenance worker helped me with everything I needed to do -- hooking up/unhooking my car, connecting utilities, bringing UPS packages to me so I didn't have to walk to the office to get them.
Besides being an excellent, well-maintained park, the folks who run it are super. I will definitely stay here again when passing thru the area. - gfs1943
Sep 2018 - $26.00
Camp Host were great but pool and pond was green - we had a very hard time trying to level our fifth wheel on the gravel. Camp Host said it was their most level spot but we never got it fully level. A lot of trash down the hill from us - old mattress and garbage etc. and lots of ants. Would not stay here again. - Fun chasers
Jul 2003 - $21.00
Probably the nicest CG managers I've ever encountered and extremely easy to get to from the Interstate. The interior roads are narrow in some places but not a problem. Pad was concrete but a lot of earth over the top of it (rained heavily the night before). Peacefull with adequate shade but you could hear the trucks on I-59. Free fishing pond, playground for the kids. Lot of hills not good for bicycling. I used this CG several times as it's near the halfway point between my work in Louisiana and my home in Alabama. It's a good place to stay for a night while traveling. I don't think I'd stay any longer unless I had business in Laurel or was holed up due weather. Drawbacks - Highway noise which has increased since it's where the speed limit changes from 70 to 55 and the trucks love to hear the jake brake roar, fortunatly there is not a lot of traffic on I-59. The only other consideration is they allow full time residents and a couple of them had less than desirable rigs. - WPB
Sep 2017 - $25.00
This is a small RV park with very nice owners. They were very helpful. There is 1 washer and 1 dryer but no showers or toilets. We were in a 40 ft 5th wheel in a site that accommodated our trailer and large truck with 8 ft bed. Our site included full hook-ups (water, power, sewer). Picnic tables are provided but ours was in poor shape and should be replaced; we did not use it. We stayed one week at this location while we were visiting friends in Collins, MS. There were a few long term clients who kept their sites clean and tidy. The location was very quiet. - Sheilas Reviews
Mar 2015 - $10.00
Being full time RVers, with an HDT & 38 foot RV and changing areas every month or two for work, it is important to find a site that obviously fits us, is pet friendly, and somewhat quiet. There is some road and train noise but quite tolerable. There is a fishing pond-not for swimming. The few full timers there are friendly and helpful. The owner is friendly, helpful and goes out of his way to make your stay a wonderful one. A simple clean and honest park which is way more important than a lot of extras. There is free WiFi and cable. I felt comfortable and safe staying alone during the day when my husband was working. - witchey1
May 2014 - $23.00
We stayed here early May just after it opened. The bathrooms were not done yet. At the time it would make a good overnight stop. Had to drive about 5 miles off the interstate to get to it, however. The owners were very friendly. Let us use a box for cable. Water pressure was high--use a pressure regulator. Place will need some work to finish but owner has hopes. - browne07
May 2014 - $23.00
Great park for overnight stay on trip from Tennessee to NOLA. Don't judge a book by its cover with this one, nothing fancy but gets the job done and fit our 43' RV nicely. Bathrooms and laundry facilities are being built. Great grassy areas for dogs. Owner is the nicest and most helpful we have ever encountered. Helped us set up and gave our daughter some Go Fish playing cards. - 3Peeps4Dogs5thWheel
Apr 2018 - $34.00
As an overnight stay, it was off the beaten path and a little difficult to find. The one way in was rough and so narrow that meeting another vehicle was like being on a causeway with water on both sides. We were in #1 again, which was really a wide spot with utilities. No tree or picnic table. Friendly check in, with 2 ladies helping a new person. Had a nice pool. - Yeager
Mar 2018 - $20.00
You travel for a mile on what seems like farm roads (and I don't mean "FM" roads), but that is a good thing as the other parks in the area seemed to be right beside the highway.
Grassy, back-in sites beside a cute lake complete with oversize ducks. Acceptable as-is but brand-new owner plans on upgrading the Bath House and Laundry.
OTA channels sufficient but DirecTV box available for rent. As has been mentioned, satellite wi-fi is available only in clubhouse. I stayed here for a week, however my next visit will be for a month. - Halfmast
Feb 2018 - $20.00
What a pretty park this is. The entry and exit roads are one-way roads, so no worries of running into anyone. Roads in the park are easy to navigate as well. There are over 70 sites, most all of them are back ins. They have a few cabins for rent as well. Most of the sites back up to one of the lakes on the property. Check in was fast and friendly. The laundry room and bathrooms were clean. We were is Site 41, full hookups and 50amp. Site was a bit unlevel and average width and just long enough for 37-foot Class A and room on the site for our tow-dolly. There is no WiFi but our Verizon Jetpack worked fine. There are plenty of places for dog walking, with paths around the lakes. They also have a fenced dog park. We stayed February 6-13, 2018 and paid $20 a night with a combination Passport America and Good Sam discounts. - BarrettsHappyTrails
Sep 2018 - $40.00
Perfect for an overnight just north of Hattiesburg. Lots of long term but mostly well maintained. Easily accessible with our 40' fiver and extra vehicle. Staff friendly and accommodating. Didn't use facilities but everything wit our site worked just fine. We did not connect to cable so we can't say how good that was. WiFi was typical for a campground. Basic internet access. Perfect for our needs. Cute country store nearby. - jnlo
Jul 2018 - $40.00
We stayed at Shady Cove for an extended period of time. We are full-timers so we are in a lot of RV Parks. We found the manager and her husband unfriendly and almost confrontational and defensive with simple questions, although they did have fairly good availability by cell phone. The 50 amp service fried our electric cord and we had to get a new one as soon as we pulled out (that was when we found it when we unhooked, thankful it had not caused a fire). The park was not well-maintained with the grass often growing to our knees before it would be mowed. The wi-fi was not usable. The cable TV was good with approximately 30 channels. The showers and bathroom appeared to not be cleaned daily. We did not use the laundry facility to rate it. The lighting is minimal so we stayed in anytime after dark. There are only dirt roads and the sites do not even have gravel (just dirt), so when it rained we were buried in mud. The owner seems to be more accommodating to the numerous long-timers in the park that have full sites of 'stuff' so it is obvious they are not going anywhere (less than tidy), rather than RVers. This was one of the worst RV Parks we have ever stayed in and would not recommend it or return. - Keep It Simple
Dec 2017 - $40.00
We stopped at the Shady Cove RV Park for one night and the park owners were very nice and accommodating allowing for easy after hours check in. The sites were gravel and level, the gravel area outside of the parking pad was a little on the muddy side. The trails were plentiful for walking the dogs although they were quite wet. Water, sewer, and 50 amp hook ups were very nice. The cable connection was very strong with over 40 channels. We did not have a code to access the bathhouses but the surrounding area was clean and well kept. - T Nation
Sep 2016 - $27.00
Staff at hotel not helpful during check in.
Park in bad shape, unlevel lots, pedestals leaning over, poor to no lighting.
Copied drivers license and credit card to keep on file in spite of objection.
Save yourself some trouble and find another park! - RevLaughlin
Dec 2011 - $27.00
Don"t go here especially if you are over 36ft. and towing. Sites just cut out in some woods on top of a hill above motel and low end apts. Be careful or you will scrape going in and out. If you make a wrong turn going into motel you are in trouble. Had to check in a motel, no office, clerk said to just go to top of hill and turn into park. No assigned spaces, finally had to get out of coach and wander around trees to find the last pull through. No amenities, no nothing, never again. - nathans
Oct 2010 - $24.00
It is located off US 49 about a mile south of it's intersection with Main Street, behind the Best Western. Check in is at the Best Western and the campground is maybe 1/4 mile up the hill and behind trees. This location makes for very tolerable traffic noise. You can walk down to the Burger King, Huddle Restaurant or a Catfish place. Spacious sites under tall pine trees. - Seawolf
May 2018 - $20.00
We have gotten in a habit stopping here for an overnight on our way to Gulf Shores. Once again, it's a great place to do just that. All the hookups worked great and everything around the park was neat and clean. Rarely have we been here and there be more than 3-4 other campers in the park. While it may not be a destination park for many, it does provide a great spot to catch a break on your way through. - reuben james
Aug 2017 - $20.00
Stayed for one night and as others have said the sites are a bit challenging when it comes to levelling. We managed though and the hook ups were fine except for the water at our site didn't work but we just hooked up to the one next to us. Not an issue since there wasn't anyone coming in. There were a few families camping and a couple of others so we felt comfortable. Quiet and the lake was pretty. It's a nice event center we used to come to for dog agility trials and never knew the lake or RV area was here. We will definitely return since the price is good and it serves our needs. - tb919
Sep 2016 - $20.00
We stopped at Forrest County Park twice within a seven day period. The park is no frills but it provides a great place to overnight. All the hookups worked great. It's a pick your own spot, pay on your way out kinda place. Some sites would require more leveling than others, but all would be serviceable. We would definitely stop here again for an overnight. Plus being in a college town, your choices for eating out are pretty good! - reuben james
