We stopped for an overnight stay and wished we could have stayed longer! This park is absolutely beautiful and the sites are well sized. Lots of trees, shade and beauty abounds. Loved it and highly recommend it. We hope to return for a longer visit in the future. We camped at Whitten Park COE in a Fifth Wheel.

We love COE parks and Whitten Park did not disappoint. Easy access from I-22 and to gas stations. The park is located on the waterway and provides docks for just relaxing or fishing. Our site was back-in on the water, so we had a beautiful view. Our site was wide enough to accommodate our three slides, however the way the steps were built to step down to the picnic table area were not conducive to our RV steps and made entering and exiting the RV awkward. The site itself was free of trash, however there seems to be no one raking sites as we have observed at other COE parks. Bath house is older as in most parks, however it was immaculate. There is a laundry facility with one washer and dryer, which was just $1.00 per load. Worked well and was convenient for our needs. We have stayed at a few other parks in the area during our travels on I-22 and have found Whitten Park most enjoyable. We will definitely stop again. We camped at Whitten Park COE in a Fifth Wheel.

What a beautiful park not far from Tupelo, MS. A typical terrific job by the COE folks. Super friendly attendant/host. We opted for a premium site for the extra $2.00 and it was worth it. Great view of the water, near the swimming beach and not far from the shower house. We were in site #49 of loop 3. Level, clean sites. Shower house was immaculate, one of the best we've seen. Would definitely stay there again. Real quite at the end of Feb, but more than likely very busy in the summer. We camped at Whitten Park COE in a Motorhome.

Date of Stay: November, 2017 - $10.00
Overall Rating:

This is another excellent COE park located on the Tennessee-Tombigbee Waterway near Fulton, MS. It is an easy scenic drive from Interstate 22 to the park. Once inside the park the roads are very good and easy to get to all sites. There are 3 Loops which all run down to the waterway which is very wide at this point. A total of 60 campsites are available all with water and electric. Most sites are back ins but easy to get into. Our site was very spacious and had a nice large shady area with picnic table and fire pit. A large tent could also easily be accomodated. The water and electric hookups were perfectly placed at center of our trailer and worked well. We also had a reasonable view of the waterway due in part to most of the leaves being down. As we camped here in November reservations were not taken and the gate was unmanned but instructions were at the gate for checkin after picking a site. A ranger was on duty to patrol the park and collect fees left at the gate box. The park offers a fishing dock and swimming beach within the campground. The park has a very large historical center that looked interesting but again was closed due to being late in the season. There are plenty of hiking trails and a large playground for children. A laundry and showers are available, but we did not use. Our Verizon phone had a decent signal and we could pick up some TV via our antenna. Overall this is a very nice park and we would definately camp here again and recommend. We camped at Whitten Park COE in a Travel Trailer.

Overall Rating:

I stayed here one night - Monday night of Labor Day weekend -- in pull through site 42 while passing through in a 27 foot motorhome with tow car. Another great well-laid out COE park that is on a lake with a boat ramp and a swimming area and fishing docks. I was originally in site 30 but asked to move to the pull through site because I didn't want to unhook my tow car for a one night stay. Attendant was very courteous and helpful. There are several loops all of which have some sites that look out on the lake. The two pull through sites are on the main road near the restrooms. About half the sites are reservable. All are paved and looked quite level and almost all had some shade. Mine was flat which was nice -- the table and fire pit were up a flight of stairs in a wooded area that was very private. Overall a very nice site. Loop farthest from fee station was closest to swimming area and had the most campers. All loops had some openings. There is a museum but it was closed the day I was there. There are short paved hiking trails through the woods. The campground is very convenient to the highway, big rig friendly, and makes a great overnight stop or a place to spend some time with family and friends. Verizon worked well as did water and electric. All very well maintained and very quiet at night. There are a few sites with sewer available but neither of the pull throughs had sewer. We camped at Whitten Park COE in a Motorhome.

We were lucky to get site 19 which is one of the two sewer sites in the park. It was used by campground hosts in the past. The concrete pad was level, large and well shaded. There were a lot of sites with lake views. These had one driveway shared between three to four sites. That could present a problem if everyone did not respect the parking areas. There was a nice pier and good trails between the campground loops. We camped at Whitten Park COE in a Motorhome.

We really did enjoy this campground. It was clean and very quiet. Fulton is a quiet small town, not a lot of restaurants. There is a WalMart and Tupelo is only about 20 minutes away. We would stay here again. We camped at Whitten Park COE in a Travel Trailer.

We've stayed here before and enjoyed it, as always. There are only a couple of pull-throughs that our 45 ft bus will fit in -site 42 was perfect for us, and incredibly, the satellite worked!

Folks are nice here, and Fulton is a nice little town. a great place to stop for a day or three! We camped at Whitten Park COE in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

The Country Gentleman Steak House was a few miles south of town on highway 25. It is off the road, on a gravel driveway that looks like someones home ....but go for it! It is only open Th-F-S, and has a limited menu. But the prime rib was delicious!

Site was a long, level back-in in the woods, a short walk from the river. Interior roads were asphalt paved and in good condition.

We will probably return for a longer stay when we don't have long range travel plans. We camped at Whitten Park COE in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

The active part of town is on the other side of the Interstate; near Wal-Mart. The old town is, unfortunately, dying. Locks and dams of the Tombigbee Waterway are interesting.

We have stayed here before, and decided it would be a nice place to revisit while getting work done in Red Bay for our Tiffin motorhome, and we were not disappointed. The sites are all very spacious, private and treed. We were able to get satellite reception, it took 150 feet of cable on our tailgator. All sites have 50/30 amp reliable service. The water pressure was close to 60 psi, no sewer at sites, but dump station available. The checkin process was daunting, though. The hosts had a laborious time getting the computer to work for her. Seems the program had an old address for us, and we had changed it earlier at a different COE park. Our site was very beautiful over looking the Tennessee Tombigbee Waterway. Lots of fun watching the big barges negotiate the narrow waterway. Our only complaint was that our site had a full campfire ring, trash had not been picked up around the site, and the concrete pads were full of leaves and dirt. This park is starting to show lots of wear, many of the supporting timbers are rotten and washed away by unscrupulous campers who dump their waste water. We camped at Whitten Park COE in a Motorhome.

A nice COE park. Our site was just above a fishing pier. Park hosts very nice. The restrooms in Loop 3 were dirty every time we visited. The sites on the waterway are heavily treed so no satellite reception. Bathhouse and laundry in each loop. We camped at Whitten Park COE in a Motorhome.

Great COE Park on the Tenn/Tom Waterway. We only stayed one night passing thru, but I can see this as a popular place. Amenities are like most of these, electric and water. Fairly level concrete pad. Senior discount of 50% makes these parks a bargain. Dump station available. We camped at Whitten Park COE in a Motorhome.

This is a COE park and I have found that the parks are as good as the hosts. The host at this park have been here three years. We stayed on space #42 which was a pull-through near the showers. Electric was very good and stayed in green even with A/C on. No sewer but dump station is near entrance and clean. The only negative is the distance from I-22, but then that's good as there was no road noise. The river sites allow you to watch barge traffic. I would stay here again. Whitten Park has a few nice things going for it. These include, shaded sites, multiple fishing piers, swimming area, playgrounds in various areas, multiple segregated loops, multiple bathhouses with laundry facilities, and an excellent visitor information center. Why you may want to choose another campground include semi-steep drop offs at numerous sites and only TWO sewer hookups. Sites are a close to each other/limited privacy We camped at Whitten Park COE in a Travel Trailer.
