Just off I-10....traffic could be a problem if you like quiet, and railroad nearby. Located behind a large mall. Good price and close to what we wanted to see. Campground has cement pads which are old, but level. We camped at Campgrounds of the South in a Motorhome.

Located just off I-10 north of Gulfport, MS, this is an average RV park except that the owner/manager is super nice and very welcoming. There are asphalt driveways and concrete site pads, but many of the pads are a bit broken and cracked. We were there during a rainy period and there was a lot of standing water in the driveways. We had a long pull through site with full hookups, no patio or picnic table. The bathrooms are in rough shape and not very clean. If you are a light sleeper you may be bothered by the traffic noise from I-10 nearby. However, it was convenient for a brief stop and the price is right. We paid $24 per night with Good Sam discount. We camped at Campgrounds of the South in a Motorhome.

VERY noisey. Poorly drained, $100 deposit for cable. Pads, old cracked concrete, but fairly level. Airport near by and I 10 directly adjacent. Clean and cheap. Wifi is so poor you won't use it. We camped at Campgrounds of the South in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

Roads are tight. I probably wouldn't stay here again. I'm worth another $10. For a quiet, grassy, dry campground. It's not terrible and if funds are tight I understand, but to be honest , I'd rather spend more, get better. With that said, it clean and cheap.

Sites near interstate are noisy for those who sleep with open windows. Pick a site on backside if noise is an issue.

The park is clean and well maintained. There are not a lot of amenities. No cable, no pool, no tables, no fire ring, no dog walking area, no . . . well, nothing. There is Wi-Fi, although I was unable to connect. The water is good at 155 ppm. TV reception is good, cell service excellent, and there are not enough trees to block satellite reception. Campgrounds of the South is an easy on and off both Route 10 and 49 making it very convenient for an overnight stop. There are tradeoffs as the traffic noise is fierce. Well, that's the first impression. Then you hear the truck's exhaust brakes - more impressive. Soon, you will discover that the Gulfport-Biloxi International Airport is just a mile away. Depending on which way the planes are taking off and landing, the noise may hit a new high. Next, you'll find that Keesler Air Force Base is less than ten miles east. Now those planes make a lot of noise in defense of our country. And, the military jets may use the Gulfport airport too. After a while, I just tuned it all out and slept well. We would consider stopping here again at the Passport America price. We camped at Campgrounds of the South in a Motorhome.

We went after a rain, and found out that the interior roads are the drainage. Water everywhere, and all the grass was soggy. Roads are tight, with little turning room. All sites have concrete pads, most of them cracked. No picnic tables or fire pits. The park is cash only, no credit cards. One big negative....the only trash is all the way in the back of the park. Not a place we'd stay again. We camped at Campgrounds of the South in a Fifth Wheel.

I, like most, read the reviews before coming here. I first had some questions because several were not very good. I am glad we did not depend on any of the bad reviews. We were just going to stay for one week, that has turned in to two so far at $140 per wk. Sites are close but not as close as some I have been in. Paved streets, concrete slabs, and I have 40 ft motorhome with no problem. Close to very good restaurants, just a couple miles from the beach.

I have site 102 and yes it is close to Interstate, but with AC running we never hear anything. May stay another week, but regardless when in this area we will return to "Campgrounds of the South." We camped at Campgrounds of the South in a Motorhome.

We stayed for 7 days here. WiFi was not good, spotty. Also for cable they gave you a box to hook up. I could never get ours to work, so carried back to office. We were to leave Thursday but our drive through site was flooded in by a severe storm and we were not able to leave for all the flooding and mud.

Not close to the beaches or casinos. We camped at Campgrounds of the South in a Fifth Wheel.

We spent one night in a 44 ft. RV with slideouts and a tow. All sites are pull-through with concrete pads, but they are close together and short for big rigs. We didn't have to disconnect the car, but there wasn't an inch to spare. It had rained before we got there and, despite the paved sites, there were huge puddles throughout the park. The overall drainage is very poor and the entire park was a muddy mess. We had no problem getting a DirecTV satellite signal, but the guest host didn't have the WiFi password--and never managed to get it from the owner--so we weren't able to see if the park WiFi worked or not. Fortunately, Verizon cell coverage was excellent and we could use own Verizon Jetpack for WiFi. Overall, despite the excellent Passport America price per night, we didn't like this park very much and wouldn't stay there again. With a shorter RV and dry weather it might be OK. We camped at Campgrounds of the South in a Motorhome.

The park sits right next to the interstate and you hear traffic non stop. The management was very nice. Fairly level concrete pull through site. Long enough for coach and toad, we didn't have to disconnect . Park residents friendly. Several turns to get to park, and one person we were traveling with, made a wrong turn. Easy to do. We would stay here again, but only for overnight stop. Too much traffic noise for us. Rate reflects Passport America discount. We camped at Campgrounds of the South in a Motorhome.

Excellent overnight stop, convenient to I10, our site was pull-thru, long enough for 44' motorhome with tow, conveniently placed shore services: 50A, water, sewer, cable and free Wifi. Reasonable Passport America rate. We will put this campground on our favorites list for longer stay, because it is close to area amenities, nice fully paved level sites, and economy. Great overnight stopover. Sites are concrete pads and pretty level. Very close to I-10 and lots of traffic noise (our site was close to the highway). Not the park's issue, but traffic around Gulport just sucked. Casinos, restaurants, and stores are all just minutes away. I guess the only complaint is that the dumpsters were all the way on the other corner of the park. Wifi was about as good as any other campground. We camped at Campgrounds of the South in a Fifth Wheel.

This is a great stopover campground. Paved and level sites with full hook up and cable (though we didn't use it). The bathrooms looked clean and it is close to the interstate. Not much within walking distance, we didn't unhook the car, but several stores within 5 miles via auto. Several permanent or seasonal residents but they were in the back in sites and we had our choice of several pull thru sites. We would stay here again if in the area. We camped at Campgrounds of the South in a Motorhome.

Dirty bathrooms. Had called with reservation but not reserved. Next day checking out, the man said they don't reserve pull thru's. Concrete pads cracked not level. As we were leveling trailer had a creepy guy who said why bother sites are level and I said not by our levels. He said what do you expect none are level. Cash or check only. We camped at Campgrounds of the South in a Travel Trailer.

Friendly staff and decently level concrete pull-thru sites make park worth the effort for an overnighter despite it being in an off the path weird location. Just down the road from a Cracker Barrel Restaurant. Certainly well worth the money compared to other parks in the area. We camped at Campgrounds of the South in a Fifth Wheel.
