As an overnight stay, it was off the beaten path and a little difficult to find. The one way in was rough and so narrow that meeting another vehicle was like being on a causeway with water on both sides. We were in #1 again, which was really a wide spot with utilities. No tree or picnic table. Friendly check in, with 2 ladies helping a new person. Had a nice pool. We camped at Okatoma Resort & RV Park in a Motorhome.

Very nice front desk people who gave us a site next to the laundry as we needed to wash our clothes. The park had mostly full time residents. OTA TV was good as it was close to Hattisburg. The park met our needs for an overnight stop. We camped at Okatoma Resort & RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Date of Stay: November, 2016 - $20.00
Overall Rating:

Older park way back off the highway, with what appears to be many permanent residents who work in the area. The sites are very close together and some are a bit trashy looking--not cleaning up around their site. The few pull through sites are just in the middle of a field next to the bath house. Certainly satisfactory if you are there for an overnight. The sites are reasonably level and hookups convenient. No wifi except at the office but my Verizon worked well. Some of the back in sites surround the lake which is really just a large pond. It is populated with ducks which make a nice ambience for an otherwise unremarkable park. The grounds is a mix of grass, gravel and fine dirt. I can only imagine what it must be like when it rains--the inner roads and some sites must be a muddy mess. I would not stay if it has been raining or if rain is forecast. Otherwise a good enough park for an overnight or visiting the Hattiesburg area. Park management folks are very personable, professional, and accommodating. My rate included two days at PA and one day at regular rate. We camped at Okatoma Resort & RV Park in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Good place to stop if you are visiting Hattiesburg which has everything you could need and then some. Produce market with dairy, eggs, jams, honey etc. up the road on the left on the way to Hattiesburg if you don't feel like driving into town for a few items.

Used as an overnight stay. 30 amp service was a little flaky. I don't think I'd classify this place as a "resort."

However, for the Passport America rate of $14 for a full hook-up site, we thought it was a good value. The restrooms and showers need to be completely redone.

Couldn't get the cable to work, but had OK over-the-air service. We camped at Okatoma Resort & RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

We stayed one night passing through. The road into the park is really narrow with water on both sides but once you get to the park it is a beautiful and peaceful place. Seemed to be a lot of full timers. Lot is gravel and grass and somewhat hard to level on. Sewer connections were a little high (it's hard to drain uphill!) Office folks were really nice. We did not think this park accommodated our large rig quite so well. We found the place kind of stale and not very inviting. We cut our stay short due to parking next to a rig where a large dog barked often and no one picked up the mess when walking it on others sites. Thinking we could find better we left for Louisiana. The Internet was not working was another reason we left. We camped at Okatoma Resort & RV Park in a Motorhome.

We stopped for overnight stay. This park is off the main highway, narrow roads, last section gravel and very narrow. Staff very friendly and we were given driving directions when we called to reserve a site. Call for directions! Do not follow GPS, it could get you in a situation where you can't turn around! Once we finally arrived, site level with water, 50 amp electric and sewer, no cable. But satellite and antenna work fine. Worked for overnight, but not ideal due to maneuvering the roadways. The park was quite and fairly well maintained, but if it is raining could be muddy. We camped at Okatoma Resort & RV Park in a Motorhome.

The road from US 49 is a county road albeit a farm road. Once you enter the park the asphalt quickly turns to a gravel road just wide enough for any size rig. The roads are all gravel and very dusty. There were a number of long term campers here. You feel you are out in the boonies but traffic noise from somewhere can be heard at night as well as the train. Water was at 40 PSI. Wi-Fi was very slow and dropped constantly. The laundry was okay and costs $1.25 to wash and dry. Rate is Passport America. I would not stay here again. This is a nice place to spend a few days but a bit hard to access for an overnight stay. One-way gravel entrance and exit roads that could be a little dicey if you encounter heavy rains (which we did). The paved road (Lux exit) is narrow enough that you hope you won't meet another large RV before arriving at the park entrance. The park facilities are well maintained. There is a nice size fishing lake in the heart of the campground and a couple of others that are close but harder to access. Pleasant office staff. Overall Rating:

Rate was a Passport America. The staff was extremely nice and helpful. The park is on a lot of land with 5 lakes and could be a very pretty country resort. Coming off Hwy 49 the road to the park was narrow but paved. Once you arrive at the park entrance the road to the sites is one way and narrow. All roads are dirt/gravel and very dusty. The sites were also on scraped dirt/gravel with little grass in sight. The sites were level and water pressure good. However, there was one problem with one leg of the 50 amp which dropped to 113 at night. This meant we had to cut back on some of our electrical usage to keep the surge guard from kicking out. This park has great potential if some road maintenance was done and all electrical posts kept in good operating order. We would stay again if in the area. We camped at Okatoma Resort & RV Park in a Motorhome.

This park could be a really nice park with a little work, but in it's current condition I could only rate it a 5. The staff are very friendly and helpful; however, the park needs some improvement. The roads into the park are dirt and full of potholes. They also are very narrow and cross the lake making entry very nerve racking. The pull through sites are just dirt areas in a parking lot with no grass and no shade at all. If it was raining it would have been a muddy mess. It seemed to me that the Passport America visitors were parked in those sites because after I arrived a full price customer arrived and was put into a pull through space that was a lot nicer. I guess that is what you get for half price. Like I said, with some work and a lot of gravel, this could be a nice park. I will not stop here again. The rate shown is the Passport America rate. We camped at Okatoma Resort & RV Park in a Motorhome.

We used this park for a one night stop-over on the way to Gulf Shores. I suppose it's an "OK" place for a one nighter, but our stay there started out on the wrong foot. As I was checking in, I was asked if I had dogs. I said yes, we have two German Shepherds. Since there is NOTHING on their website about breed restrictions, NOR was it mentioned on the phone when I made the reservation, I presumed everything was fine. The check-in person informed me that Rotties, Pits, and German Shepherds are not allowed at their park. She said she would make an exception in our case since we were only staying for one night, but we must NOT leave our immediate campsite with the dogs, no matter what. We did not use the restrooms or showers, so I cannot comment on them except to say the building looked somewhat run down. The roads are gravel, and are alright. The water, electric and sewer all worked as they should. Since we could not leave our immediate campsite, we did not get to do any exploring around the campground to get much more of an impression of it. We paid the PPA rate. We camped at Okatoma Resort & RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Overall nice park for overnight stopover. Need to improve park interior access road.; narrow and very rough. Grading, widening, and 33C gravel would improve the road a lot; paving would be even better. Staff was helpful and friendly. Escorted to site and assisted with parking at site. Pet friendly. Hwy 49 north, right on Lux, left on Okatoma River Road, the entrance is on the left. About 2 miles off Hwy 49. This park was a nice surprise and a very pleasant place. It’s a little rustic but well kept. All utilities worked fine and the management and staff were very friendly and accommodating. This would be a nice place to stay for a couple of days with a site on the water and a fishing pole. Rate is Passport America for a 50 amp, full hookup pull-through. We would stay here again. We camped at Okatoma Resort & RV Park in a Motorhome.
