Beautiful grassy treed setting on Geiger Lake. Roads and sites are paved with concrete patios for concrete and wood picnic tables. The campground needs some maintenance as many picnic tables are broken, showers and toilets are decrepit and the grounds have a lot of torn up muddy areas. Even with these drawbacks we enjoyed staying here and would return. We camped at Paul B. Johnson State Park in a Motorhome.

The best campgrounds yet. I don't think they are any nicer. Great staff, beautiful view. Quite level pads, good roads, a little out of the way, but very well worth it Stay a couple days- weeks or longer. They won't mind. We camped at Paul B. Johnson State Park in a Motorhome.

We were running from Hurricane Irma so I'm not sure if the daily rate was a special for evacuees. This is a lovely park on a beautiful lake with an interesting entrance where you drive across an active spillway. The roads were paved, the sites were concrete for the unit with a separate concrete pad with a picnic table. Some sites back up to the lake. Our loop was a very long way from the bathhouse.. Laundry area needed some attention. It was beautiful here. We loved it and would return. We camped at Paul B. Johnson State Park in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

Visit the Military Museum at Camp Shelby just a few miles down the road. It is donation only, but incredibly well put together. It's closed Sunday & Monday. We ate a wonderful meal at Triangle Seafood in Hattiesburg.

This place is huge. Despite the late winter/early fall the place had far more campers than I anticipated. Large lake for water activities. Friendly staff in the office. We camped at Paul B. Johnson State Park in a Motorhome.

If the bathrooms had been cleaner, I would have given a better rating. No divider between shower and dressing area. No hooks to hang anything on. The park was very nice, lots of space and big lake. No fire ring. We camped at Paul B. Johnson State Park in a Travel Trailer.

We have stayed in this park before. It is a great park with a good atmosphere close to Hattiesburg and Camp Shelby. Most sites are close to or on the lake and shaded with plenty of space between sites. This time, since we did not have a reservation and the park was filled to capacity, we ended up in one of the pull-through sites near the park office. These sites are the least desirable as they are very close together with little shade or privacy. Even so, this was a good value for the cost. In the future if we stay here I will make a reservation in advance to ensure a better site. Overall worth every penny and will definitely stay here again. We camped at Paul B. Johnson State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Stayed 7 days, site 81. Good morning and later pm shade. No fire ring, wooden picnic table, showed a lot of wear. Asphalt pad, fairly level. Most sites seemed to have a pretty good slope front to rear. No camp store, 5-7 mile run to get ice,etc.. Our site was across the street from the lake, great views, steady breeze from the lake. Very clean, very quiet, twisty turns going back to the camping area. Best route to enter is take I59 to 98 to 49 south. Have to drive through spillway to get to campgrounds and office, water never very deep. Pretty much a no frills park, though very pleasant, will defiantly stay at this park again. We stayed in a 32 ft fifth wheel, had a very good time. We camped at Paul B. Johnson State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

The view and the lake are awesome. It is peaceful here. The toilets/showers smelled like an outhouse. We were here 2 weeks and watched the gals go into the restrooms to clean. They would take a spray bottle (nothing to wipe with) and return out of there in about 5 minutes. There are jail guys that do the lawns. No issues with that. The hookup on our site was wired wrong. We needed help with that. The site itself could have used some shade. I think we were put in the only site that did not have it. (2nd loop) Would be nice to be on the waters edge next time. We did not use the restrooms/showers because of the smell. We were going to do a load of laundry but there were bugs and dirt in the machines so we opted not to. It is a nice place to stay if you strategically pick out your site. We camped at Paul B. Johnson State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Our first time here but not sure we'd go back. No fault of the park but the loop we stayed in (loop 1) only had limestone next to the asphalt RV pads so with all the rain we experienced (rained every day), it was a constant struggle not to bring dirt and rocks into the camper. BEAUTIFUL views over the lake however and our daughter and godchildren had a blast swimming in the lake. They also fed some ducks and fished right behind our site. Roads are definitely tight thru that loop and although our site was level and long enough, many would have been a serious problem for us, especially site 15, wow. Very short and completely sloped downward. Thankfully, they had a small Rpod in that site. Do homework and ask questions so you don't caught in a site you're unprepared for. Overall, a decent state park. We camped at Paul B. Johnson State Park in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

Splash pad, which we really looked forward to is NOT free - costs $6/per person. We swam in the lake instead. Showers, while clean, didn't seem to turn off, leaving floors all wet and slippery. (this was in both men's and women's restroom near the lake in loop #1). The ants and sugar bees were pretty bad - kitchen Comet works wonders, just sprinkle around the ground. We keep a container in our camper at all times.

Stayed in Cabin #1 for 4 days, and walked through the campground area next to the area. The park is clean, & quiet, but the campsites just seemed a little too close to one another. There are a few with shade, but not many. Did not use the comfort station. The cabin was clean but was very abused. It needs to be updated badly. The staff was wonderful. We couldn't get used to the unsupervised use of prisoners to collect garbage, though we had no problems. We camped at Paul B. Johnson State Park in a Cabin.

We've stayed there about 4 times, all on the second loop. Nice enough campsites, though some sites aren't as level as one would like. Pads are asphalt. Some pads have a pretty severe drop-off from the pad to the ground. All in all, not bad, but some sites aren't that nice. Others are fine. Nothing really special, this is a state park so its pretty much what one would expect. We'd stay there again. We camped at Paul B. Johnson State Park in a Motorhome.
