Overnight stay. Most spots are first-come, first-serve. Find your spot then go back to the office to pay. Some level paved pads, some unpaved. Lots of shade with some sunny spots interspersed. This is a county park with a huge playscape and splash pad for the kids. Very popular with the locals. Lots of seemingly local families camping there. Friendly staff. This was my second overnight here, and I'll definitely stop here again. We camped at McLeod Park in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

Check out the Hancock Co. Beaches and Bay St Louis Old Town with restaurants and shopping. The Silver Slipper & Hollywood Casino's are not far away. The fishing is good in the park and there is deep sea fishing on the coast. Also fresh seafood available in the restaurants and to buy local. You have to check it out.

Date of Stay: February, 2017 - $24.00
Overall Rating:

The good: Beautiful spot very handy to I-10 near LA/MS border. Great shade. Beautiful river with some sites along the riverfront. Most sites have cement pads, others gravel-sand. Sites not on top of each other. Really nice playground with water-play feature during on-season. Good price for full hook-up. Verizon signal good. OTA TV decent. The bad: Only one bathhouse near campsites with just 2 shower stalls. Hardly anyone in the park, yet the bathroom was dirty. The two restrooms on the day-use side of the park were scary-filthy. There was too much litter in the park despite there being trash cans at nearly every site. Maybe part of the problem was there were no lids on the cans so birds and other critters could pull things out. The odd: Nice cement patios with picnic tables and grills at each site but no fire rings. People build their fires on the ground anywhere they want to, including in the middle of dead leaves and pine needles. Also, there is no manager, ranger, or camp host on premises 24/7. On Presidents Day, the office was closed and no one was around at all. Bottom line: Despite the drawbacks, I liked the park a lot. If you don't have to rely on the public bathhouse, then that will make things much nicer for you. We camped at McLeod Park in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Riverfront sites #37-61 would make me nervous if heavy rains were in the area. (River right in front of you and swamp behind.) My site, #79, happened to be a pull-through, but it was the only pull-through I saw in the park.

We stay pretty frequently at this park. We have had very few issue's peraonally speaking. They come every morning to collect trash so it doesn't over flow into the park. The playground is amazing, my little girl loves it they have a nature trail as well. No one ever messes with anything on your site!! We camped at McLeod Park in a Travel Trailer.

Overall Rating:

This is a park ran by the local water district it is a very nice park if you want to get close with nature. Few amenities but lots of nature. Good boat launch. Lower sites where flooded by Issac but are up again. This is the 1st park we stayed at after buying our RV and we stayed 4 out of 5 weekends. We skipped labor day weekend due to Issac. The lake front slots need a reservation. The slots up the hill have shady and open slots. All gravel and some with concrete slabs with picnic tables. Great park We camped at McLeod Park in a Motorhome.

The good about the park was the waterfront spot. We live close and was able to park our boat outside the campsite. The park is not kept up well and bathrooms were nasty. We camped at McLeod Park in a Travel Trailer.
