The park is well kept. The sites are asphalted with W,S & 20/30/50A E. The sites are somewhat small and close together, but Lake Tangipahoa is beautiful and a steady breeze from across the lake kept it comfortable outside through the mid 80's. We went to McComb to visit the Railroad Museum, certainly worth the free admission. I will definitely be returning to this park for another visit. We bicycled all of the roads (minor hills and reasonably flat). To sum up my review, let me say the week we spent there was very peaceful and the park is simply beautiful. We camped at Percy Quin State Park in a Travel Trailer.

Beautiful spacious State Park in the deep hardwood and pine forests of Mississippi. Was a long drive in from the entrance station and wasn't sure what to expect. Our site was huge with asphalt drive and full hookups and from the back of the motorhome a view of sunset over the lake. There are sites right on the lake shore but some of those are shorter and require deeper turn to back in than what our 40' motorhome could do. The asphalt roads are very, very narrow and some of the turns tight but doable. Watch the road surface, there are potholes and some areas are buckled. Lake for swimming, boating and fishing as well as hiking trails and cute chapel for Sunday services. The fire area was not a pit as much as a mound. Thought I should shovel a bit out and make a dent to burn in but turns out it really was a mound of sand to have a fire on. There was a far amount of small items of trash on our site, which we picked up so don't know if it was just the last people on it or if generally not picked up. All and all one of the nicest State Parks we have been to. Two days was not long enough! We camped at Percy Quin State Park in a Motorhome.

This is a very beautiful park with lots of trees, rolling hills and a large lake. We rode our bikes which can be tough going up some of the hills, but so much fun coming down. We had site 54 which was a premium site. It had a view of the lake. It was 40 degrees when we camped and the wind coming off the lake made it feel like it was 30 degrees, brrrr. They do let you build a campfire. The spaces are not one on top of the other. Our site had full hook up and a blacktop site. It also had a picnic table. We did not get a chance to do any hiking due to the weather but they do have trails. We went into McComb, Ms and ate at the Dinner Bell restaurant. I highly recommend it. They seat you at a large round table and have a lazy susan in the middle of the table. All the food is set up on this rotating device and you choose form there. It is home cooked food, very good. We camped at Percy Quin State Park in a Motorhome.

We stayed in spot 44, which had full hookup for sewer, water and up to 50 amps. We have a 40' RV. Shade both morning and afternoon, but not full shade all day. Good, level spot that was fairly easy to back in to. We could see the lake through the trees. Quiet, peaceful area. Right across from bathroom and showers that were super clean and air conditioned. The trash dumpster was only about 50 yards away. Access roads into park are two lanes but narrow with many areas having no shoulders. Once we were in the RV area there were one way narrow lanes but this spot was easy access in and out. I had called before we left and talked to staff in the office (super nice) and she assured me we could get in and out with our large Class A motor home. This was extremely helpful and made us feel better about going to this site. We didn't have a tow vehicle but if we would have there would have been just enough room on the asphalt pad or we could have parked in the grass. This is a corner spot so we had extra room on our passenger side which was a plus. We camped at Percy Quin State Park in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

We did go to Mr. Whiskers since we saw earlier posts about it. The service was good but the food wasn't seasoned enough for our tastes.

I was really disappointed in Percy Quin. Over the years I had heard so many wonderful things about it. Going back and looking on this website at the reviews from 7+ years ago, it was like reading about an entirely different park. There was a lot of variability between spots, and not just between regular and premium. Some lots had a good amount of space with a decent layout, but most were small and/or had an awful layout. For instance, it's most convenient when the picnic tables and barbecue pits are on the opposite side of the hookups. (Hookups on one side of the RV, main door opens from the other side.) This place had picnic tables and Barbecue pits behind the RV spots and even on the same side of the hookups. Others were so far away, it wasn't clear which spot the table belonged to. Also, there were no fire pits yet people had fires going with less safe makeshift pits. Not all of the sites had numbers on them, making it confusing as to which site was which. Also, some of the sites had steep and abrupt drop offs from either the asphalt on the RV pad or the concrete from the picnic table, creating a fall risk. There were no trash bins at individual sites, as mentioned in previous reviews from years ago. Instead there was just 1 big 18-wheeler dumpster near the entrance of the park. The mosquitos were really bad, but the lake was pretty. If you like fishing that would be enjoyable. There was one couple who came from way up North to spend 3 months there. Perhaps there is something I'm overlooking? I'd rather be in a nice quiet COE park with lots of space and amenities. We checked out each site and the ones that had a good layout (table and barbecue pit on the "easy" side of RV), were level, and had decent shade were the following: 16, 17, 52 (near waterfront), 56 (on waterfront), 60, 62, 66, 71. We camped at Percy Quin State Park in a Motorhome.

Typical Mississippi state park. Good condition, great prices, not much to do nearby. Stopped here on the way to New Orleans. Great easy off the interstate stop. The pads were extremely un level. I couldn't even get close to level w/ the jacks down. Looked around and they all seem to be like that. Gets crowded on the weekends but then empties out on weekdays but in general, more crowded than most parks in the middle of nowhere. The golf course was really nice and challenging. They do not rent clubs so you better have some of your own. Site accessibility (easy to back in, plenty of room, roads in and out are good but sites very un level and sloped) - 3 Campground location (Right off the interstate, not a lot to do nearby though) - 3 Nearby amenities (Walmart 15 minutes away. Mall, Lowes, good stores for supplies) - 4 Site Privacy (Spacious sites but not much privacy) - 3 Campground amenities (Small camp store, nothing special here) - 3 Dog friendly (Good walking loops and plenty of space) - 4 Activities (Excellent golf course, walking, biking trails) - 3 Cost ($20/night for 50 amp full hookup) - 5 Staff friendliness (Check in lady was kind of rude) - 3 Connectivity (Decent signal w/out a booster for both ATT and Verizon with good download speeds. Crappy OTA, only PBS channels) - 3 Total rating = 3.4. We camped at Percy Quin State Park in a Motorhome.

No signs pointing to camp spaces-ask for a map. Typical state camp ground. Old and sites are pointing in the wrong direction for viewing the lake. The so called premium sites are not so premium-don't waste money. We camped at Percy Quin State Park in a Travel Trailer.

It's been almost 7 years since our last time here and not much has changed. Overall a good park and we'll definitely return but only if the sites we wrote down are available. It was raining when we arrived and since the roads in the loop we were on are pretty tight, it was an adventure backing in (and our TT is only 28'). Hookups are all good but I'd like to know WHY the picnic table and fire ring are on the same side as hookups. They have room on the awning side. The onsite store had ice, charcoal and lighter fluid (all things we forgot) plus a "slush puppie" machine which we hadn't seen forever. Cool trails to walk, awesome lake views with plenty activity that weekend - fishing rodeo, boating, etc.. One of MS's better parks in our opinion. We camped at Percy Quin State Park in a Travel Trailer.

Coming in on a Saturday night we didn't have reservations because Mississippi requires you to book Friday and Saturday night. Worked out well as we got a senior discount and no reservation fee! Park is very pretty and the lake is beautiful. Bathrooms are air conditioned which seems to be rare in state parks. Showers were decent and had hot water. One of the toilets was left running all night and I never saw a camp host. My site was a little hard to back into as the roads were narrow. We camped at Percy Quin State Park in a Travel Trailer.

We've stayed here several times in years past. It's been a while since we were here last but we love this park. The park is nestled in the woods and the lake is beautiful. There currently is no fishing in the lake because it was just restocked after being drawn down for repairs on the dam. However, boating is still allowed. Fishing is supposed to resume in 2017. There is also a golf course on the property.

The staff is very friendly and there is a "camp store" in the campground that has the essentials for camping. I suggest taking a walk on the South end of the lake around the dam area. Very nice scenery. There are also cabins and group cabins for rent. There is a great seafood restaurant about 10 minutes North of the campground entrance called Mr. Whiskers. Very good food, friendly staff and good prices. Check it out.

We had 3 campers in our group and enjoyed the weekend. We cooked out, sat out by a roaring campfire, walked the property, and had a great time. We camped at Percy Quin State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Nice view of the lake from our RV site. Pay a few bucks extra and get a premium site if you want to be right on the water. A very peaceful and relaxing setting. Plenty of room to ride bikes throughout the park. The nature trail is well marked but could use a little maintenance. A great family oriented park. Lots of kids playing and having a great time. Great park rangers. Sites are concrete pads. We were parked by the lake with a great view of the lake. The restrooms and showers are kept clean. We stayed here while exploring Natchez. The only down side is what I found at all Missouri parks; a few of the long term camper sites are allowed to be very messy which hurts their beautiful campgrounds. I would stay here again. We camped at Percy Quin State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Stayed here 3 nights. The lake had been drained due to a recent huge storm so I got a $4 discount on a lake side premium site. My site was #5 and I had to use all of my leveling blocks as there was a steep incline down toward the lake. Still the location of the table and the area around the site was level. This was the second campsite that I visited in MS on my trip with broken shore power posts covers. I again had to duck tape the cover closed as one day it rained for 12 hours! I would suggest an outdoor rug if you plan to stay awhile. There was no fire ring (common for MS campgrounds), just look for signs of an old campfire. Many sites are not level. Some level sites I found are: 44, 46,47,49. Sites 99 and 100 are in the wooded area, but should get some satellite reception and are more level. Picnic tables at these sites are in a good location, but the sites are a bit short for big rigs. There was a laundry facility, but the washers/dryers were missing. On my site my Tailgater had good reception and my iPhone with AT&T had 3 bars. No walking/hiking paths nearby. Lots of cabins with 1970's decor inside. Some construction going on across the lake and a nice information center meeting hall a short drive away from the campground. Wasn't hard to find the campground. Pretty well used campground for December and the lake being drained. We camped at Percy Quin State Park in a Motorhome.
