Beautiful, quiet park under mature trees on big lake. Stayed in old campground. Sites fine for my size rig (25 feet), but some might be a challenge for long rigs to get level. Didn't visit newer campground but suspect that would be better for larger rigs. Most sites have lake view. Nice space between sites. Sites paved, tables on cement slab though quite a few are on the utility side or behind the RV. Over-the-air TV signal good; Verizon signal strong. Careful of roadside and site edges, though, as there are many spots with no shoulder and a sharp drop of several inches. Another odd feature mentioned in an older review and still the case: there are no dumpsters or garbage cans around. Trash is picked up in the morning and afternoon, but I was not comfortable leaving a bag out with food residue even for a short time as it takes no time for a hungry critter to get into it. We camped at Roosevelt State Park in a Motorhome.

Very relaxed and quiet. A lot of local families on the weekend. Park is massive with several campgrounds. Offseason if you don't have reservations you need to go to the Office-several miles away from the "New Camp" but within the park and then to your site. Otherwise straight to the site. Fishing, hiking, disc golf, canoeing/kayaking, pool and tennis in season. We camped at Roosevelt State Park in a Motorhome.

I wouldn't recommend this park for larger rvs. Suitable for small rvs or trailers. First, roads into the camping area are very narrow, hilly, and winding with some low limbs. Sites we saw were sloped and narrow. No satellite as all sites we saw are surrounded by large, tall trees. Sites are close to each other grouped on hills around a lake. Bathroom was dirty with trash left on the floor. No holder for toilet paper, rolls just left on handicapped railing. We would not return. We camped at Roosevelt State Park in a Motorhome.

We stayed in the old loop of the park but that really doesn't matter, all the sites have at least water and power. Pads are paved and mostly level entrance to pads are sloped, so longer rigs may have issues. Our site (37) is one a very few pull through sites which was nice for us but there is a big down side to it. All hook ups are on the wrong side of the site and towards the exit. Found this out on our recon drive pass the site as we made our way back to the office. Upon check-in I asked about entering the site by driving down loop road the wrong way. Seems I'm not the only one to ask this because they said no problem, in fact as I reached my parked rig the ranger was in her truck to escort us to our site. Pulled in hooked up, nice and level. Nice to stay in a quiet wooded park since staying in the open for two years. We camped at Roosevelt State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Very nice State park and lake. Campgrounds are spread out along the lake and wooded hills. The roads are a little tight but not a problem-class A's had no issues. Sites have full hookups, picnic tables and grills but concrete pads are narrow. Most sites are shady, we were able to pickup about 15 tv channels, no cable/wi fi. Restrooms/showers are decent but need to be cleaned. Sites have space between them and everyone respected quite time. You can hear big trucks on the highway while outside but not irritating. What amazed me, never had any mosquito problem, little sugar ants were another story. Spray around anywhere they might access your camper. Water slide, beach/swimming area are great for kids, saw plenty of folks fishing too. It's a good overnight stop or place to relax for a few days. We camped at Roosevelt State Park in a Travel Trailer.

This park is near I-20 which is convenient for travelers. There is some noise from the interstate. All of the sites now have sewer. The sewer was hard to reach with our hose. It was also 12 above the ground.

The sites are fairly level and have a lot of shade. There is not a lot of privacy, but most of the people are quiet. There are not many trails, but walking on the roads is fine. We travel in a class C and had no trouble getting around in the park. They will let you ride around and pick a site before you have to pay. We camped at Roosevelt State Park in a Motorhome.

Plenty of room to back in our 32ft class C. Stayed in the "Old" campground, site 13. Mostly level site, about 100 feet from the water. Pretty view of the water through the trees. Lots of critter noises at sunset & after dark. Nice campfire going in the very large fire ring. Motorboat traffic on lake. Road noise from ?I20/Rte13?, but it won't keep me awake inside the rig. There appears to be a smattering of long-termers here, but there are plenty of sites available on this Wednesday night. When we took a walk around, there was a small amount of trash left by inconsiderate lazy campers evident, and this should have been handled by park staff by now, but not enough to make the place feel dirty by any means. Staff have been exceptionally nice, on phone and at check-in. If you're looking for a resort atmosphere, this isn't your place. If you want to relax in the woods, this is a good spot. We camped at Roosevelt State Park in a Motorhome.

Incredible! We are sitting 20' from the lake. Flat pad and room for my truck. Beautiful breeze, quiet and relaxing. This park is a winner. We arrived at 1 pm and we drove around and picked an available site. Don't listen to the reviews about narrow roads; they were fine. We camped at Roosevelt State Park in a Travel Trailer.

We enjoy staying at Roosevelt Park. Clean, friendly-helpful staff, always there to serve. We love the family atmosphere. We stayed in several different sites, each has its own good points, of course we like being close to the water but if you wait until close to camping time you may not get that spot. Already looking forward to our next time there. We camped at Roosevelt State Park in a Travel Trailer.

FILTHY bath houses--to the point of being unhealthy. Dirty sinks, toilets, grimy floor and walls and even excrement on walls and floor. No towels, soap and ran out of toilet paper. A rusty pool of water with floating toilet paper over a floor drain. And when I brought this situation to the attention of a maintenance person, he said he would look into it--but couldn't drive away fast enough without even stopping at the bath house.

Campsite was littered with paper and cigarette butts. Grill full of ashes. Fire ring missing, but there was a full pile of trash and ashes where it used to be. Most sites are very short for any rig over 30 feet. The only presence seen of the rangers was to pick up trash bags from the road--or once across the road to check to see if there was enough power for a karaoke machine (really). To bad. We camped at Roosevelt State Park in a Motorhome.

This was one of the nicest campgrounds we have stayed in. All hookups worked well. Although there was no wifi available, my Verizon cell phone and jet pack worked fine. OTA tv channels were clear and accessible (there were 27). Our back-in campsite overlooked the lake. Tall pine trees added lots of shade and there was plenty of space between campers. There was a little bit of an edge getting into the campsite but the site itself was level. The campground is just one mile off the interstate. We would absolutely stay here again. Date of Stay: November, 2016 - $24.00
Overall Rating:

The park itself was only about 10% full on the weekdays (early Nov). On the weekend it filled up to maybe 30% but certainly not crowded. There's nothing to do around here as far as shopping and dining activities so we pretty much hung out at the park for a few days. I have read other reviews mentioning trash at the sites. The policy here is that you put your trash bag out and they do a few drives throughs every day and pick it up. This seems great until someone leaves it out overnight and the critters spread it around. And then no one apparently cleans it up....ever. So I did see some trash and it was a bummer but it wasn't as bad as some of the reviews make it. Site accessibility (easy to back in, plenty of room, but the roads in the park are crap and it's a 2 mile drive down those crappy roads to the campground) - 2 Campground location (Near the Bienville National Forest and Jackson) - 3 Nearby amenities (Walmart 20 minutes away but nothing else really) - 2 Site Privacy (Spacious sites but not much privacy) - 3 Campground amenities (Bathrooms/showers decently clean. 1 clean washer and dryer at the bath house) - 3 Dog friendly (Excellent walking loops, hiking and plenty of space) - 5 Activities (Disc Golf, hiking, tennis, swimming beach, water slide) - 3 Cost ($24/night for 50 amp full hookup premium water site) - 5 Staff friendliness (Check in lady was friendly. Didn't meet any other staff) - 3 Connectivity (Decent signal w/out a booster for both ATT and Verizon with good download speeds. Excellent OTA. All major channels) - 5 Total rating = 3.4. Tips for other Campers:

Making our way down to New Orleans via the Natchez Trace and this seemed like a good place for a stop over. I wish I had know how terrible the back roads were into this park. I would have spent another 45 minutes and went around to HWY 20. That's how bad MS 483 is. Usually I enjoy the county highways. Less traffic, less stress. Not the case here. Save yourself the trouble and only use the main roads.
