The campground just opened a new section back by SeaBee Lake and this review concerns this new section. All sites are back ins and even though the concrete pad is the same size as those in the main campground (the main campground has large spaces for vehicle parking), the sites are considerably shorter. Units are not allowed to stick out over the grass so there is little room to park a vehicle unless you have a short rig. A couple of long term campers with big rigs moved out to this section and their vehicles were either parked on an unoccupied site or sticking out in the road. The road is narrow and some of the sites will be difficult to back into messing up the nice pretty new grass. There is a bathhouse/laundry in this section with a nearby play ground and dog park. SeaBee lake is a short walk. The office will remain at the main campground near the front gate. In my opinion, big rigs would be better at the main campground as the new section is not really big rig friendly. We camped at Shields RV Park (Military Camping Only) in a Fifth Wheel.

65 pull through sites with full hook up and cable just inside the gates of this small SeaBee base. Since in the winter most of the sites are taken by seasonal residents they are opening a second park on the other end of the base in April 2016. We went to tour that facility as well, which is close to the lake, boat rentals, golf facility, paintball, children's park and more. Both facilities will allow reservations, and on line reservations are being offered starting April 1. As always, the facility is clean and well maintained. We camped at Shields RV Park (Military Camping Only) in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

There is a lot to do on base: fitness facility, swimming pools, boat rentals and the like.

Excellent RV facility. Concrete roads and sites. Sites are level. Free cable and wi-fi. Close to beaches and casinoes. Small but adequate commissary and exchange on base. Large dog park and recreation facility also on base.
Patio and picnic table at each site. Lots of room to ride bikes around the base. Will definitely stay here again. This place is a "10"! We camped at Shields RV Park (Military Camping Only) in a Fifth Wheel.

Very clean and spacious park. Level concrete pad with lots of space between sites. FHU, cable and WiFi, and picnic table. Two nice dog parks on base, about 2 miles from RV park. Small commissary and exchange on base. Train tracks near park but I honestly did not hear any trains! Convenient to beach and casinos. Easy to get to off Interstate. Would definitely stay here again. We camped at Shields RV Park (Military Camping Only) in a Fifth Wheel.

This is a very nice military campground. A maximum stay of 6 months is allowed and the pull thrus are reserved for the long term campers. There are some back in sites reserved for short term campers and there were sites available the entire time we were there. No trees in the campground courtesy of Katrina. There is lots of noise from the nearby rain track and there must be some sort of emergency services just outside the base because the siren noise was frequent. If you are noise sensitive, you may not like this campground. Office staff was very friendly and helpful. You can enter the pass gate with no issues but departed using the commercial gate because we had more swing room to get through the barriers. Bathrooms and laundry have combo locks so make sure you get the codes from the office. Free wifi is available but you have to enter loads of information and we just used our Verizon mifi which had an excellent signal. We will return. We camped at Shields RV Park (Military Camping Only) in a Fifth Wheel.

This is a military RV park located on the Naval Construction Battalion Center in Gulfport, MS. The original campground was destroyed by Katrina. The new location is much easier to get into and out of. Located just off the Pass Road entrance. Office personnel are friendly and helpful. Pet rules are enforced. The distance from the rail service and roads makes for restful sleeping. Although no trees for shade, there are none to damage your rig if there is a storm. Long term stays are now limited to 6 months with 1 month out makes for better availability for short timers. Great park overall. We camped at Shields RV Park (Military Camping Only) in a Travel Trailer.
