1 Park near Oakland, Mississippi

Yocona Ridge Campground. This is one of the older campgrounds at the lake. The roads are very tight for rigs over 30 ft. Site 27 is still the best. Right on the lake. Large mature trees for shade. The pavement needs resurfacing that's the only downside. - MThome

Wish we had gotten here earlier in the day... but by the time we arrived it was pitch black. I had called ahead and they said to just find a spot and pay the next morning. We tried Site #2 in Yacona Ridge, but my tester said the electrical was reversed polarity. I walked to Site #3, and the breaker wouldn't stay put. Finally got lucky with Site #4... good power, good water, though sewer was a bit of a reach for my tube. The site, though not level, was tolerable for one night. There were other RVers, but only about 20% of the sites we saw were filled.
Being a state park, there was no WiFi, but with 2 bars of Verizon and 3 bars of Karma, we were able to do some next-day planning without too much of a hassle.
The next morning, the view we had was spectacular with both the lake in the short distance and beautiful trees all around. As we toured around we came across a herd of ten deer, adding to the idyllic setting. It was very quiet, very peaceful (though it may be different when the weathers isn't cold and windy!).
The park personnel were friendly and helpful. We would enjoy coming back here with more time and warmer weather! - RobtL

We absolutely loved this park. My oldest enjoyed fishing with his Dad while my younger son had a wonderful time playing with the other children at the playground. There are deer that can be seen late afternoon walking around in the field behind the campsites. The only downside was that the lake was low and there were not any sites that were very close to the water. Even with this, we will still be going back. The park even held a wonderful Easter egg hunt on the Saturday prior to Easter Sunday. - User2403
