8 Parks near Soso, Mississippi
Apr 2013 - $18.00
Shady, by the lake and quiet if you stay in the first loop 1-27 away from the boaters and jet skiers. Good showers, but the toilets have no seats - part of the design of the toilet-weird. - Traveler John
Apr 2013 - $18.00
This park is one of a number in the Pat Harrison Water Park system. The park offers full services and has large sites with either paved or concrete pads as well as fire pits and barbecue stands. They offer PA reductions on certain days as well as senior discounts. A nice quite getaway. We would stay again if in the area. - lrp374
Oct 2007 - $8.00
Paid Passport America rate of $8.25 for first 3 nights and $15 (senior) for 4th night. Park has two RV areas and is part of the Pat Harrison Water District which runs about 9 "water parks". The sites with the higher numbers has been recently updated, all new pavement, sites and roads. 50 amp service with sewer. Nice quiet park very much like a COE park, big roomy sites with plenty of space between them. The only one downfall we had was a bunch of small ants that must have gotten disturbed. They were all over the RV and we did not have ant spray with us. Other than that we had a good time. - Bob and Inga
Aug 2016 - $29.00
Stayed two nights. Park needs some updating. Pool was green. Site was gravel. Everything worked well. Second day woke up to ants everywhere in RV and tow vehicle. Had to spray. Still have occasional ants over a week later. Owner was a very nice gentleman and was helpful. Didn't tell him about ants as we left very early on departure. - Rvontheroad
Jan 2016 - $30.00
I can't say enough about the good people at this park. I injured my shoulder and couldn't drive for 30 days. The manager and his maintenance worker helped me with everything I needed to do -- hooking up/unhooking my car, connecting utilities, bringing UPS packages to me so I didn't have to walk to the office to get them.
Besides being an excellent, well-maintained park, the folks who run it are super. I will definitely stay here again when passing thru the area. - gfs1943
Oct 2015 - $27.00
I have used this RV park a couple of times over the year as a 1-night stop over. A couple of miles off I-59, little to no highway noise in the upper section. Owners are super friendly, making reservations is easy. We have stayed in the upper section with Wi-Fi. Wi-Fi was good. Only issue is ants, especially in site #8. Need to spray EVERYTHING (power/sewer/tires/stabilizers) that touches the ground. We missed a spot and had them everywhere to include the tow vehicle. - RobT
Jul 2003 - $21.00
Probably the nicest CG managers I've ever encountered and extremely easy to get to from the Interstate. The interior roads are narrow in some places but not a problem. Pad was concrete but a lot of earth over the top of it (rained heavily the night before). Peacefull with adequate shade but you could hear the trucks on I-59. Free fishing pond, playground for the kids. Lot of hills not good for bicycling. I used this CG several times as it's near the halfway point between my work in Louisiana and my home in Alabama. It's a good place to stay for a night while traveling. I don't think I'd stay any longer unless I had business in Laurel or was holed up due weather. Drawbacks - Highway noise which has increased since it's where the speed limit changes from 70 to 55 and the trucks love to hear the jake brake roar, fortunatly there is not a lot of traffic on I-59. The only other consideration is they allow full time residents and a couple of them had less than desirable rigs. - WPB
Mar 2015 - $10.00
Being full time RVers, with an HDT & 38 foot RV and changing areas every month or two for work, it is important to find a site that obviously fits us, is pet friendly, and somewhat quiet. There is some road and train noise but quite tolerable. There is a fishing pond-not for swimming. The few full timers there are friendly and helpful. The owner is friendly, helpful and goes out of his way to make your stay a wonderful one. A simple clean and honest park which is way more important than a lot of extras. There is free WiFi and cable. I felt comfortable and safe staying alone during the day when my husband was working. - witchey1
May 2014 - $23.00
We stayed here early May just after it opened. The bathrooms were not done yet. At the time it would make a good overnight stop. Had to drive about 5 miles off the interstate to get to it, however. The owners were very friendly. Let us use a box for cable. Water pressure was high--use a pressure regulator. Place will need some work to finish but owner has hopes. - browne07
May 2014 - $23.00
Great park for overnight stay on trip from Tennessee to NOLA. Don't judge a book by its cover with this one, nothing fancy but gets the job done and fit our 43' RV nicely. Bathrooms and laundry facilities are being built. Great grassy areas for dogs. Owner is the nicest and most helpful we have ever encountered. Helped us set up and gave our daughter some Go Fish playing cards. - 3Peeps4Dogs5thWheel
Sep 2016 - $27.00
We were passing through Hattiesburg--had no idea what to expect from this campground. All we really hoped for was a good nights sleep. And then we turned into the entrance!
My wife and I knew immediately that we had stumbled into one of those "jewels" that you remember forever.
If you are among those campers who whip their class A off the highway, hook up and disappear inside to watch TV until time to leave... You might not be as thrilled as we were. You will be satisfied--but not thrilled. The owners haven't paved every square inch of it.
But if you appreciate a thoroughly warm and charming welcome, an unbelievably good price, and a huge natural surrounding that shows you everything good about Mississippi--you need to give this place a try. - Dennis McClure
Feb 2016 - $26.00
Nice quiet park. Owners are exceptionally nice. Go out of there way to help you. Pretty ponds. Nice sites. Very quiet. Was traveling through for only one night was a little out of our way, but was worth it. - Beverly McConnell
Jan 2016 - $26.00
PROS - The ponds make a nice setting. The clubhouse in its day must have been really nice, love the large stone fireplace.
CONS - Older campground in need of repairs. Dirt roads dusty with a lot of potholes, low water pressure we only had 35 psi, filled our water tank and ran with the water pump. No cable, but they will rent you a Dish, no Wi-Fi. On the site we had the 50 amp and the voltage was too high and would trip our surge protector so we ran on propane.
WOULD WE STAY HERE AGAIN? No - Traveler II
Jul 2013 - $18.00
This rustic public park is located about four or so country miles off of US 49. Well marked on US 49, smaller signs lead to the park. Roads are narrow and some turns can be sharp, thus my questionable review on big rig access. However, there is little traffic, and there were 5ths in the park. We arrived late, set up in the dark. Morning light revealed an open lawn pine tree setting near a lake. Apparently, all sites are FHU. Utilities were fine. PVC sewer connects come out of the ground at a 30 degree angle, making the connect with the hose at risk of causing a spill. Site pads were chopped up by a ditch witch when electrical was upgraded, leaving unpaved trenches across the pad. Not all sites were level by any means, some had steep dropoffs to the picnic table. Primitive dump station was a PVC pipe, a screw on cap, and a potable hose connect about 20 feet away with no hose, all on bare ground. Never saw that before. Bath house doors propped open all night with the lights on, which attracted a large number of mid-summer insects, thus the unclean bathroom rating. Small, insignificant swing set for kids. An off road bicycle trail is available. CSpire phone was 4 bar 3G. DTV scanning picked up 40 channels. Manager was met at the entry gate in the morning, friendly fellow. Only 5 campers in the park, including us. Appears to be primarily a weekend local fishing spot. Overall, a very rustic feel with some significant site upgrades needed to the pavement and leveling. The high ratings by previous reviewers drew us to the park, but I can rank this CG barely average with a 4 compared to other high scoring locations. This is no 8-10. When in the area again, we would opt for someplace else, probably over to Bassfield. - The Happy Traveler
Aug 2012 - $16.00
This park is five miles off of 49. It is very quiet and peaceful with 28 sites. They have just finished up grading the electrical system. Lots of trees and plenty of space between sites. The pads are blacktop, some do need attention. They are in the middle of adding more sewer hook ups, so all most all site now have this. The road in can be narrow at times, but passable. The park people we dealt with were first class. This park is not used a lot, seems lost to the traveling RV'er. We were here this Labor day week end and there were only three of us in the entire park. The bad is we had no cell service, but that was good in a way. We will be back. Should have wonderful fall colors and spring colors here. - Frank Henn
Nov 2009 - $7.00
We loved this quiet, rural County (or State, not sure which) Park. The price quoted was based on Passport America rate. This park also had laundry facilities, which is rare in municipal parks (we've found). Lovely walking trails and a lovely huge large. The only negative was we were not able to get satellite reception because of all the gorgeous trees. We would most definitely return here. - tpw0607
Apr 2014 - $33.00
This is an old run down campground with lots of full timers. Most units are not well maintained. It works for a quick overnight but I think we will look elsewhere when we travel through again. Didn't check the restrooms / showers. Utilities worked as they should. - MovinOnDownTheRoad
Feb 2014 - $25.00
Good access. Quiet and shady. A little soggy in some areas due to recent then overnight rain. Pet friendly. Nice people. Wifi worked. I would stay here again. My only real complaint is that they are too close to the Watermelon patch shoe store right up the road. Yes, we had to go by there the next morning so the wife could buy 3 pairs of sandals. We would still be there if I hadn't stopped her at 3. - GrumpyJoe
Dec 2012 - $33.00
Old run down facilities. No one was in the office even though we were checking in during the posted office hours. The sites were okay, and it was like camping in an open field with hookups. There was something wrong with the electrical connection as it fried our 30 to 50 amp adapter. We were just stopping for the night or we would have found someplace else. We would not have felt comfortable leaving the motorhome unattended at this campground. We would not recommend this campground to anyone and would not stay here again. - Patsypoo02
