Called on the way and was able to get a space for two nights. Got our site and was all set up before the rains came in. Very large spaces with lots of room between you and your neighbor. The spaces and interior lanes are all large gravel, but they are mostly level and very clean. If you want to have your trash picked up instead of taking it to the dumpster, you can leave at the edge of your space and it will be picked up. Super friendly office staff and very helpful. They have ice for a $1 per 10 lbs that they put together as needed. Would come back here for an extended stay or even a pass through night stop. One note of warning...watch out for the fire ants....they are all over. The park looks like they are trying to stay on top of them, but even the best watchers can miss the stubborn little pests. We camped at River Town Campground in a Motorhome.

Bathrooms were clean and showers were spacious. Most of the sites were gravel pull through. The staff was very friendly, and the campground as a whole was very clean. The airport across the road was quiet. All in all it was a pleasant stay. We camped at River Town Campground in a Travel Trailer.

I can't speak about all lots, but lot 76 is a nightmare when it comes to the sewer hookup. See description below. The park is outside of Vicksburg, so a bit of a drive into town, but that's what we wanted. WIFI would be poor, but we have the Alfa Campro so we were good. We camped at River Town Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

Take a drive down Hwy 18 and then back Natchez Trace...it's a nice drive. We went south on hwy 61, took hwy 18 North to Raymond (Port Gibson-Raymond Scenic Bypass). We had lunch in Unica at the Strong's Family Restaurant. It's rough on the exterior, but welcoming and good food on the inside. We continued on hwy 18 to Raymond and then came back via Natchez Trace.

I loved this park with the spacious sites and the well maintained roads. The managers keep the park neat and the occupants all have very neat here again as long as they stay that way. The only drawback that I experienced was the poor wifi service. The owners said the provider was coming by the next day to fix it. I do hope it improves . I disagree sites without clutter. I appreciate the reasonable rates and will visit with another reviewer that wanted concrete pads and was willing to pay much more for it. Please keep it as is and at same rate. The slight slope on the site was easily remedied by driving the front wheels up on 2x8s, (2 minute fix]. We did not use restrooms so can not comment on them. We were here in a 40" motor home for 1 night. We camped at River Town Campground in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Vicksburg National Military Park was well worth seeing. The park ranger at the visitor center helped me find some information about a relative that fought in the civil war and was killed in this battle. The Military cemetery has the most civil war interments of any in the nation. The history of the battle here is fascinating.

The park landscaping is well kept up and sights are relatively large with nice long pull thru's. As mentioned by others the hookups are to the rear of the site, which works well for us. There is a conspicuous sign in the office and on the parks map/flyer about rigs needing to be in good shape: ignore it, as apparently the management does. Approximately half of the units in the park while we were there were long term people working in the area (a line truck and other work trucks, etc). These units had window a/c units hanging out there windows; one had a tarp covering the roof; and several were pretty trashy looking and definitely NOT in good shape. If you enjoy dogs being left in units all day and barking up a storm, you will definitely enjoy walks around this well landscaped park. However if that kind of noise bothers you, you might not enjoy your stay here. We camped at River Town Campground in a Travel Trailer.

This park is on a slope. Big time. Don't go there if you have a coach. Not bad for trailers, easier to level. We had to block 5 blocks in front. Wi fi was lousy. Motorhomes know this, very few there. Lots of trailers. Some coaches found another park. Convenient to town and things to visit. Beware, to arrive you have to make a U-turn, but plenty of room. Also driveway is quite a slope. Heard management were tyrants, but didn't see them personally. Quiet. We camped at River Town Campground in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Vicksburg National Military park is great. not much downtown. Don't bother with visitor's center. NO INFORMATION either state or town. River road isn't bad if you have time. Visit Windsor ruins. If you are into antiques, visit Monroe, LA west about an hour.

Very spacious, grassy lots with picnic tables. The picnic tables are old and mildewed-they could use a heavy coat of paint. The sites are gravel, but are surrounded by grass, which our dogs loved. We really liked the wide space between the sites. We were NOT packed in tight like sardines, as so many other parks do. There is no cable, so we were only able to watch 5 or 6 local channels. There was a small airport nearby, so when we had the windows open it was very loud. It actually sounded like they might be practicing for an air show or something. We LOVE the way their camp brochures state AMERICAN OWNED/AMERICAN OPERATED. We camped at River Town Campground in a Motorhome.

Do not listen to your GPS! It had us driving through very narrow streets in a residential neighborhood. The park is actually just right off of Route 61, but you have to make a u-turn.

If you like crushed rock to camp on, you'll probably like it here - there's no concrete in sight. As previously mentioned, sites slope slightly; our levelling jacks handled it satisfactorily. Also as noted earlier, the entry is a steep slope. We just had a new windshield installed in our 43' motorhome, and this slope caused me serious concerns about frame twisting, especially if we had exited via the intended point which requires a sharp turn and simultaneous downward travel, and invitation to frame twisting on long RVs. Once is enough for us at this park. We camped at River Town Campground in a Motorhome.

The park is about 4 miles south of Vicksburg with a somewhat circuitous arrival route necessitated because it was located on a boulevard roadway which requires one to make a crossover turn to enter the park which has a slight upgrade to reach the office.

The grounds are as described in their website with wide, well spaced gravel sites withe many pull-through opportunities and some trees. The grounds are open and clean with minimal nearby road noise. While it is within one mile of the local airport the arrival/departure route is not over the park and offers little noise impact.

The owners are a couple who are very attentive to any cleaning which is required and they both are very pleasant and helpful regarding local tourist opportunities. They even suggested a top local restaurant which we enjoyed because it offered outstanding local type food options. We camped at River Town Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

You should try the Walnut Hill restaurant in Vicksburg which offer a unique option to get a meal at the "roundtable" which offers meal like family style meals at home. The National Military Park run by the NPS is truly outstanding and should be seen by all Americans who want to learn about the true cost of the Civil War and is a must for all true historians.

Wow! What an improvement compared to the park down the road. These folks are very nice: from reservation process, to check in, to seeing you around the park. They even helped us jump start our car. We've stayed here twice this month. Here are a few notes about the park:

All sites slope to the front. One set of 1 1/2" boards under your front tires are necessary to level.

The connections are in the very back. You'll need 20'-30' of sewer hose depending on how far you pull up. You'll need a 25' water hose. No extension was necessary for the power.

The 50 amp power was stable with very good voltage.

While there are a few trashy units, most are clean and well kept. It is obvious the owners do a very good job of keeping the park clean and safe.

To arrive at the park from I-20, you'll need to go just past the park and make a U-turn at Redbone Road as it is a divided highway.

There is sufficient gravel with good roads. The owner (I assume) is on the tractor daily spreading gravel and keeping the sites nice.

If they would build just a few "big rig" sites with level concrete and middle connections, this would go from a good park to a fabulous one (and I'd be willing to pay $40 compared to $25). My only complaint is the extra time I need to spend leveling and setting up here. In any case, it's not trashy and is now our go to park in Vicksburg. We camped at River Town Campground in a Motorhome.

Very Nice Campground, Gravel roads and level gravel sites. No shade trees. this is a very nice campground. there is no AT&T cell service. that is beyond their control. Their hookups are at the rear of the sites, so be prepared to use 20 to 30 feet of sewer hose. We camped at River Town Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

We stayed here for a rally. Had a great time in the area - especially visiting the Civil War NP and the downtown river area. If you stay here, you have to eat at the Tomato Place (very eclectic) and also Solly's Hot Tamales. Very little interaction with staff but they were nice. Sites are gravel but mostly level with very little shade. We camped at River Town Campground in a Fifth Wheel.
