I stayed here two nights in site 43 while passing through in a 27 foot motorhome with tow car. This was base camp to visit places in Kansas City. This is an attractive campground on a grassy hill surrounded by forest that is across the road from Fleming Lake. It is part of very large county park. The hill part means that the sites are in general not level. There is a document on the county website that provides the levelness of each site. It didn't say anything about my site -- which required I be as high on my blocks on one side as I could go and left me with about an 18" drop from my door step down to the ground. One of my least favorite configurations. There are full hookups, electric only hookups, and basic camp sites. It appeared to me that only the full hook ups had any length to them -- the others were very short. There were some homeless folk in tents on the sites at the bottom of the hill. Sites with shade had folk that looked like they would be there a while -- there is a 14 day limit. They are in the process of building a new restroom building. The sites themselves are loose, rough gravel. There is a dump station. The interior roads were paved and easy to negotiate. The park appeared to be well maintained -- I arrived shortly after an unprecedented 6 inch rain and there were washouts and lots of gravel on the roads which they were cleaning up while I was leaving. The sites were spacious. Water and electric worked well and Verizon was good. For dog walkers turn left out of the campground and about 1/2 mile up the road there is a group shelter on the right at the end of a long unpaved road. Huge open field with trees and mowed trails through the adjoining meadow. You need to call to make a reservation and the lady was very pleasant. There is a $2 per day discount for senior citizens which you have to ask for when you arrive and which I totally forgot about. You have to check in by 9 pm and there is a gate with a passcode. We camped at Fleming Park / Lake Jacomo Campground in a Motorhome.

Overall Rating:

Price reflects senior rate for a fhu back in gravel site. County park is gated with a security code. Sites are spacious and the setting is serene although the park is located well within the city. A few sites have lake views and many are not very level. Roof top satellite reception can be a problem with some sites. Verizon works well. Restaurants and shopping are available within a few miles. Late check outs until 3 pm so you won't want to arrive too early. Stay is limited to 14 days. We will stay again. We camped at Fleming Park / Lake Jacomo Campground in a Motorhome.

Overall Rating:

Rate reflects senior discount for 50 amp full hookup gravel site. We stayed two weeks and the online process is difficult in that it only allows you to reserve 13 days then a single day separately. Regular camp hosts are delightful. We had a tree touching the top of our rig this stay and the newer host did not have any way to trim it for us. We occasionally experience electrical problems here in the hottest part of the year. Nice location and we would definitely stay again. Beautiful campground! We were surprised to find new camp hosts this year, but they all seemed very friendly. There was a burn ban due to dry conditions during our visit, so open fires and grills were prohibited. Lots of deer roaming early morning and evening. Security gate, paved roads and pull thru sites are also paved, remaining sites are gravel. Park is within walking distance to Lake Jacomo and there is a 14-day maximum stay in the Jackson County Parks. We camped at Fleming Park / Lake Jacomo Campground in a Motorhome.

Date of Stay: October, 2011 - $26.00
Overall Rating:

Nice campground, pleasant and helpful hosts. Stayed only one night on way to Iowa but would have stayed longer if schedule permitted. Typical "state" park as far as rest rooms and amenities go ... no soap, towels, in rest room and have to push the "3 minute" button constantly to keep water flowing in shower. But nice grounds, quiet albeit in middle of city. We camped at Fleming Park / Lake Jacomo Campground in a Motorhome.

Overall Rating:

Another delightful routine visit for us. We endured a lot of cold, rain and wind, but otherwise uneventful. Seems like the grass was not mowed as in past visits but the park had just opened for the season. Sewer drains are placed a bit too high to drain well. Paved streets with some paved and some gravel sites. There are lots of tents on the weekends. Camp hosts are very helpful and efficient. We will definitely stay again. Overall Rating:

This is a nice gated campground in a wooded setting. Many shaded sites can make satellite reception difficult. A few of the sites have a lake view. Sites are large gravel with paved streets. A small playground for the kids and a volleyball net, otherwise not much else to do. It's an easy walk to the lake for fishing and/or boating. We stay regularly and will stay again. Date of Stay: June, 2009 - $25.00
Overall Rating:

This was our second visit to this campground since we have family in the immediate area. Lots of smaller tent sites and some back-in and pull through sites which are larger. There is a picnic pavillion, volleyball net, and not much more. A few of the sites have shade and/or a lake view. There is fishing, boating, walking trails, etc., all within approximately a quarter to half mile. The sites are roomy but all are not level. We watched deer out the front window in the evenings. Our Verizon internet connection was slow but working. The weekends bring lots of tenters, but it's fairly empty during the week. The camp hosts were extremely helpful. The campground is gated. We will camp here again. We camped at Fleming Park / Lake Jacomo Campground in a Motorhome.
