Second time at this park. Some sites near the playground in area 4 are too close together but others in park nicely spaced. Heavily wooded with lots of hiking trails. Showers were great- lots of hot water, pressure and really clean! We camped at Wallace State Park in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Shatto Milk Company is about 25 minutes away and has a wonderful store, flavored milk samples and homemade ice cream. Do tours Sunday through Thursday. Call for reservations. Really, really good milk! My favorite? Wild Root Beer milk. Yum!

Good: convenient location and good bathrooms Bad: no water or sewer hookups at site, but available near exit. This is very nice state park conveniently close to I-35 but no freeway noise. Campground roads are asphalt, some pads are asphalt and others are gravel. Sites are mostly flat and mostly level, with a mixture of pull-throughs and back-ins. Electric only, but fresh water and a dump station behind the showerhouse. Bathrooms and showers were very nice. Slightly wavy tile floor was not slippery but also not uncomfortable. Showers had individual dressing areas with multiple hooks, a large bench and large shelf, and there was a small shelf in the shower for shampoo and soap. Scattered trees for shade. Verizon was 3 bars, 4G. Would camp here again. We camped at Wallace State Park in a Motorhome.

Loved this park. We were there before they turned the water on, so didn't use the rest rooms or showers. The campground hosts were very friendly and the redbud trees were in full bloom. Very conveniently just off of the interstate. (I can't remember the exact cost, but it was very reasonable) We camped at Wallace State Park in a Motorhome.

There are various site types, tent, to large pull through. Some sites are gravel, some are asphalt. Sites are shaded with few having satellite reception. OTA TV is limited. The camp hosts are very friendly. The shower house is near new and quite clean. The few miles of road from the Interstate are narrow, hilly, and curved. We camped at Wallace State Park in a Motorhome.

Overall Rating:

Wallace State Park is a lovely, tranquil place, a really sweet discovery. There is a small lake with swimming. Two of the campgrounds have electric, mostly 30 amp, with 50amp available in two sites (by reservation); the basic sites seem more suitable for tents, but OK for smaller rigs. If you have never stayed here before & especially if you have a big rig, I would recommend calling the park before making a reservation online. Some of the sites are easy pull-thru & very level. Some are gravel, some paved. The back-ins tended to be very private & attractive (nestled in the trees), but also many were not level. One electric site had a pretty steep drop-off with a lot of overhanging trees that we would not have attempted. (Ok if you're small, but no way with a behemoth motorhome!) We camped at Wallace State Park in a Motorhome.

We loved this park! There are no full hook-ups, but two nice dump stations are located near the bathhouse. There are only a few hose bibs, so plan on coming with water. We were lucky in that our site was close enough to a hose bib to run our hose over to our rig to top off the tank. We were the only folks in Campground 4 for a day and a half - that was awesome. However, the paved pads and grass sites are spacious, so even when the park filled up on the weekend it was still very peaceful. Some of the sites have sheltered picnic tables with a convenient shelf above the table. There was one outhouse with two separate toilets. The inside walls of the woman's toilet were a real mess, but the dugout area is vented by fans and there was no odor. The room has a skylight and shuttered, screened windows that allow lots of light to enter - but take a flashlight at night! A full-service bath with flush toilets, sinks and showers is available near the entrance to the camping area of the park. The entrance road has a few twists and turns, but negotiating them at the posted speed limit in a 40' motorhome with a tow was not a problem. It appears that most all sites are located in grassy areas with large trees throughout. Even so, we were able to acquire satellite reception. There is no Wi-Fi. There are a number of trails and plenty of space for walking dogs. There is a small lake and day use area. We camped at Wallace State Park in a Motorhome.

Wonderful state park with 4 separate camping areas: 1area walk in, 3 for RV's and or tents, and 2 of those have electricity. Well maintained with multiple trails, fishing, day use area. Weekends are usually fully booked and weekdays busy. Sites vary between open, sunny, shaded, and private. Many pull throughs.
We would stay here again. We camped at Wallace State Park in a Motorhome.

We pulled in on a Saturday night without reservations as did another camper. It was just an overnight stay for us as we were heading west. The park was full but there were two no-shows. The camp hosts/staff called the two individuals and they released their site.

This is a very nice park with lots of space that seems to be a favorite spot for locals. We camped at Wallace State Park in a Motorhome.

We were just looking for an overnight stop and tried this park. It's accessed via a narrow, twisty road, but is worth the effort. The camp host came out and directed us to a pull-through in campground 2 that had 30 amp electric only, but that was fine for the one night. Lots of trees so no satellite where we were. The other campgrounds (there are 4) might be better. The Verizon Wireless was excellent and we were even able to watch some Netflix. The roads and sites were all paved. We camped at Wallace State Park in a Motorhome.

We have stayed at this park 3 times. We had a pull thru site. There were only 4 other campers there. Very quiet. The park was still on winter camping, but they did have fresh water available up by the dumping area. We camped at Wallace State Park in a Motorhome.

Overall Rating:

Areas 2 and 4 are electric (30 amp mostly – two 50 amp sites in Site 4) with mostly paved sites, even a good number of pull-throughs, and the rest gravel. Sites are well spaced, shady, some really tucked back into the woods. I stayed there 9 days and in both Area 2 (#59) and Area 4 (#83). Area 2 is next to the Wi-Fi and showers, and consequently the signal was excellent. Site 4 is 400+ yards away and Wi-Fi was nonexistent, although I think they are going to add a booster. I saw several deer and it is very quiet in the evening. There’s a good map on the web site, which shows the popularity of the individual sites, which is kind of cool. Since there is no water or sewer, I can’t give it a 10, but agree the two dump sites are very clean and accessible. I would definitely stay here again, if in the area. Convenient to Kansas City. We camped at Wallace State Park in a Motorhome.

Great little park, very quite, great for a few days. Don't reserved on line like I did if you are going to arrive early in the week. It cost me and extra $8.50 to phone reserve. One of the parks host told me the park it is usually pretty empty during that time of the week. This is my second time camping at Wallace. Will be there in the future. We camped at Wallace State Park in a Motorhome.

If you can find a better run state park, I'd love to know about it. I give this one a 9 because it doesn't really have that much in the way of "attractions", but it's just about perfect in every other way. Really great shower house (with a nearby laundry facility--50 cents per load!), very well-maintained, spacious sites, easy access to the highway, very proficient camp hosts, just a great stay. This is our second visit as we are traveling through MO to see family in IL, and we'll be back! We camped at Wallace State Park in a Motorhome.

Close to I-35 yet far enough removed to be totally quiet at night. Large, well-spaced sites, including many pull-through. Note that while the sites have electrical service, they do not have individual water. Instead, there are water spigots scattered throughout the campground. Showers and flush toilet restrooms was still closed for the winter when we were there, so I cannot comment on those facilities. There were pit toilets available however, along with one working water spigot near the shower room. We camped at Wallace State Park in a Motorhome.
