3 Parks near Cape Girardeau, Missouri
Oct 2015 - $32.00
We had a very pleasant night in Cape Girardeau. Turned out to be a good place for a overnight. Staff was pleasant, sites easy to get in and out. Driveway going in is steep but short. Watch carefully for turn off from highway. There is a nice city walkway next to the park. Very good place to walk, bike or walk your dogs. There is a pool and miniature golf course but wasn't opened when we were there. Best part of our stop was our visit to downtown Cape Girardeau. They have done a lot to update the city along the Mississippi River. Still sections are being up dated. Best part was the painted retaining wall depicting the history of Cape Girardeau along the river. Don't miss it! - The Sandbox

I don't know what happened to this park between my visit and that of other reviewers because I experienced a totally different park. It is obvious the park has been neglected for quite some time. If you read the amenities list it sounds great; however, when you actually get there it is a different story. The cable is restricted to just about 20 channels---you can get almost that many with the antenna alone. The pool was not only NOT CLEAN, it actually had a green tint from the organism growth in the pool. The bathrooms are in need of painting and more frequent cleaning----when I checked them it was 3:00 in the afternoon and they were just OK then. Additionally, there was no hand soap in the bathroom and no toilet paper either. The park is not manicured and there was litter in my site that I had to pick up. Water pressure was good, 50 amp electric was good. The sites are very close together and two vehicles with slide outs only have a few feet between them. There were 4 washing machines in the laundry room; however, 2 of them were not working. The management was told about them but nothing was done while I was there. The check in was friendly and courteous with no problems. Considering the condition and looks of this park, I would NOT recommend it to someone else and I would only stay here again if it were a near emergency. Finally, don't believe your GPS to get here---the location is approximately 2 miles different from the actual gps instructions. I mentioned this at check in and was told yes, that happens regularly so we tell those who call to take exit 99 off I-55 and then stay in the left lane until they see our sign. - chilkateagle

Park is fairly well maintained, shower house could use some inside paint.
We had a very heavy rain while there leaving water standing 2-3" deep at our door at the front of the site. Power was good as was, the cable, sewer and water. The pool looked clean and inviting, but storms precluded that. The miniature golf course saw some use shortly after our arrival. - Teacher's Pet

The Cape Girardeau Elks lodge has a campground with 11 full hook-up sites. Six sites back-up to their private lake. The campground area is quiet and situated in a partially wooded setting. The lodge is very active and has a popular club room. The lodge is located just off I-55 at Exit 99. - 15243
Oct 2015 - $31.00
The park is easy to access and maneuver within. Roads are a mixture of gravel and paved; sites are level concrete with attached patio areas and gravel aprons for parking. There are many mature trees for shade but staff was helpful about site selection for satellite reception. Utilities were mostly good though wi-fi was only fair. AT&T phone and data signals were good. Restrooms and laundry were clean. Road noise is present but not horrible. Recent or ongoing construction in the park has created muddy hazards at some sites. The rate reflects a Good Sam discount. We would stay here again. - never settled

This is a large facility without much in the way of management. The office is closed more than it is open. It is a former trailer park and is still in transition. Most of the park is devoted to full time folks. The sites have a basic concrete pad with grass along side. The utilities worked well. Most of the roads are rough with pot holes and utility trenches across. The laundromat is small but clean. I did not see any restrooms or showers, however I do not use them anyway.
This is a quiet park and fine for a couple of nights. Not much to do in town, but beautiful old buildings.
I would stay here again. - ranchoddellago

We have family in the area and we come here often. We are always treated well and the campground is quiet and peaceful, even when full.
The campsites are well maintained and the camp provides cable TV and wi-fi.
The campground is easy to find and is located on a good road. - smockingsal
