Easy access to and in the park with our 40'+ RV. Pros: Level gravel sites, full hookups, and close to the highway but quiet at night. Cons: No pool, and as a prior reviewer posted, their pricing is a bit of a racket: it's not at all worth their standard $40 per night rate but they "find" a discount for everyone. We would not hesitate to stay here again but would probably try the other choice nearby if in the area again. We camped at Big Red Barn RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.
Tips for other Campers:
Red Oaks II is about 10 minutes away and one of the most unique attractions we have ever seen. The artist-owner is moving buildings from his childhood home to the site and it's a very unique creation.
We camped here 3 nights, friendly managers , gravel pull throughs, FHU, trees at every site, Picnic table on cement at every site, no pool, no train noise & no highway noise, nice rv park and big rig friendly, stores nearby , Roots Restaurant is great buffet style (great place to eat), Joplin Mo nearby, and Precious Moments Chapel near Carthage MO. Is a must see.
We camped here in a FW , and we will camp here again. We camped at Big Red Barn RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.
Tips for other Campers:
Walmart nearby, local restaurants , Precious Moments Chapel nearby.
Forgot to mention cable at our site.
Very nice rural park on I-44. Very convenient to the interstate. The sites were spacious and the park was surrounded by fields. The campground hosts served hot dogs and hamburger dinners for $5 each. Very convenient. We received a 30% military discount. Very nice. We only stayed one night, but I would stay longer on a trip to rest and relax. We camped at Big Red Barn RV Park in a Motorhome.
This is a very quiet park. It was a stopover on our way to Kansas City, Mo. There is no pool. They do have cable but it wouldn't work in our motorhome & nobody could figure out why but the hostess tried very hard to find out why it wouldn't work. We were able to get satellite signal & over the air stations. They have free WiFi & it worked well. I would stay here again. We camped at Big Red Barn RV Park in a Motorhome.
Quiet, lovely campground. The owner kind and so helpful. We have always stayed here when in the area and it is so good to know that the BIG RED BARN is here. The roads and sites are gravel. Sites easy to get into and out again. Work was being done on electric and water while we were there so the grounds were a little messy. This was 5/18 2015. We camped at Big Red Barn RV Park in a Motorhome.
Date of Stay: April, 2015 - $38.00
This is a very quaint, cute park with very nice management. Sites are park-like and roomy and level. Well maintained with lots of trees and grass. I found it to be very peaceful. They have propane and a cute little office/shop that is being renovated and looks like it will be very nice when finished. I would definitely stay there again if traveling that way. We camped at Big Red Barn RV Park in a Motorhome.
Date of Stay: March, 2015 - $32.00
Was an overnight stop. Very friendly host. Pull through sites. We were escorted to our site and the made sure everything worked. Restrooms were very clean. It is far enough from the freeway so it was very quiet but close enough for easy on and off. Would have liked to stay and extra day to explore the quaint down town. Would stay here again for sure. We camped at Big Red Barn RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.
Date of Stay: November, 2014 - $28.00
Great staff. We stayed here only one night on our way to Texas. Had a little difficulty getting to park, but it may have been more our GPS system than the park's actual location. Nice park. Well maintained. We camped at Big Red Barn RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.
Date of Stay: October, 2014 - $32.00
I have stayed in many places across the US and this is the first time RV Park Reviews let me down. I have, however, learned a good lesson. When checking in and asking the rate, don't let the host get away with asking "well do you have Good Sam?" before quoting their rate. I don't know if we got ripped off, but I can't believe their regular rate could be $40/night without the discount. The wifi was absolutely nonexistent on our site and the sites (although level) had nothing to offer. This is the first time in ten years of rving that I felt gouged. I wouldn't stay here again unless they dropped their rates by at least 30% per night. We camped at Big Red Barn RV Park in a Motorhome.
Date of Stay: October, 2014 - $32.00
We stayed here while visiting grandkids and have stayed here before. All sites are nice and long, can accommodate the biggest motorhome and tow. Nice, gravel sites with picnic table and concrete patio on many. Large open field where you can walk or exercise your dog. They do say breed restrictions on dogs. Quiet campground with some seasonal, but mostly overnight traffic. Close to shopping in Carthage, about a mile to Walmart/Walgreen's. Good Sam discount was 20%, quite a nice surprise! Will definitely stay here again. We camped at Big Red Barn RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.
Date of Stay: August, 2014 - $40.00
Stayed here 3 nights to visit friends in area. Be sure to watch for signs to find the park. There are shade trees and grass areas to walk the dog. The sites are gravel and level. Owners live and work onsite. We camped at Big Red Barn RV Park in a Motorhome.
Date of Stay: August, 2014 - $32.00
This is the second time we have stayed at this park. Spaces are long and wide. Wi-Fi and cable worked well. Staff is very friendly, even have cookies upon arrival. Nice area to run dog. We would stay here again if in the area. We camped at Big Red Barn RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.
We were greeted by the owner and she was very friendly and helpful to all what we needed to know. The park was clean and our site was level. We had lots of channels on the cable TV and great Wi-Fi service. It was raining when we stayed here and it drained well. The park was quiet. We would stay here again.
