9 Parks near Columbia, Missouri
Aug 2016 - $27.00
This is a mobile home park that has added a few barely adequate RV spaces. Owners pleasant on the phone, but it's a good thing I always call ahead. They close at 4pm and have no site map on the web. Also, he said we would not have to unhitch, but not true - the site just fit our 40' motorhome.
The pads are gravel with concrete "stripes" supposedly for the RV tires. Luckily our tires just fit the concrete and our levelers landed either fully on the concrete or fully on the gravel.
Water hookup was underground, but was pointed straight up, so no trouble connecting. I did have to remove my Y connector. The first turn into the RV area was a little tight but after that there was plenty of room. Getting to the park from I-70 was easy but there was a lot of traffic, especially when we left at 7:30 the next morning. I would look for another place next time. - Lou Ellen
Oct 2015 - $27.00
The park managers were very nice and helpful. The park is really close to I-70 so there is a lot of highway noise, but didn't bother us too much. We stayed two weeks and felt safe and secure. Very close to a lot of fast food places, Walmart, Sam's Club, Stephens College and downtown. Would definitely stay here again if in Columbia. - Cebu
Apr 2014 - $30.00
We called ahead to make reservations as we saw this campground in the Good Sam Member book only to be told they are not a Good Sam campground. The campground is very close to the highway (SR 63) and road noise is loud. As we tried to hook up to water we saw the water line shut off valve was buried under dirt. The manager did dig up the valve but you could tell the water line had not been flushed in quite some time so we opted not to utilize the water in the park. The sewer did not have a cap on it. The owners admitted they purchased this park 6 years ago but have not done much to the water line issues. We stayed here as we needed a quick overnight stop but we won't be returning here. The wifi did work at our site and was included in the $30.00 price. - Tim3
Sep 2016 - $38.00
I'm surprised at the short reviews; there is a lot that can be said...with one caveat.
This is a large park that is clean and neat. It is being maintained constantly. Check-in was easy at a very nice store/gift shop/ office. They actually had a lot of products in stock, both food and camping supplies as well as souvenirs and gift items. We were able to buy milk!!
The grounds are manicured with a lot of flowering shrubs and plenty of shade trees. There is a large covered picnic pavilion with a big, big fire pit and lots of tables and grills. There is a pool that is clean and looked very inviting, though we didn't try it. Also a children's playground that looked new. Nearby was a very nice wooden gazebo for just relaxing out of the sun and enjoying the flowers. Each site has a picnic table and the front row sites each have a chimenea, but open fire pit fires are not allowed.
There is also a rally room and one of the nicest "Rec" rooms I have encountered with real exercise equipment, book and dvd exchange, and tables and chairs for just getting together.
The bathrooms are clean and well appointed, the showers were hot, though I believe the shower enclosures needed some scrubbing...probably hard water. Basins, mirrors and counter tops were all squeaky clean.
The "Heads-Up" for this campground: as mentioned over and over, the roads are narrow, and the sites are tight, making for very shallow turns. Get the walkie-talkies you use for back-ins and send your navigator out to help you pull into your site. Even the old pros who have pulled into thousands of campsites, should send someone out to watch. Large RV combinations definitely need extra help. Someone from the office will also help.
The park enforces overflow parking, the roads are as clear as possible, just not wide and decorative shrubs and boulders edge the site entrance and exit.
Drive careful and enjoy this wonderful oasis off the road. Relax! - Jack B
Sep 2016 - $40.00
Beautiful park. Impeccably maintained, flowers everywhere. Good laundry, pleasant to walk around. Reasonably close to Columbia. Signs at the entrance say Drivers stay in your vehicles. What they mean is, don't park and walk in until you are first in line. We would stay here again. - SusanRon
Sep 2016 - $35.00
Long pull thru, nice campground. It has a great store and gift shop. Huge banquet building. - erthlady1
May 2012 - $23.00
This definitely was not a family friendly atmosphere. It is a place to go and party, if that is what you're looking for. There is not easy access for full size motorhomes because of narrow roads and low trees. - Harlee79
Jun 2009 - $20.00
This is a good place to drink and party, I wouldn't take kids. It's hard to park in most sites. Weekends have many tent campers very close and walking through your area, there's very little privacy. There's one very small restroom in the store with one pay shower available during store hours and a few really nasty portable potties. I won't stop there again. - David's path
Jul 2007 - $20.00
Call in advance, the campground is pretty far out in the country and small. I'm not sure too many big rigs could be accommodated. Amenities are way down on the 1-10 scale but the location and atmosphere more than compensate. A great view of the historic Missouri River, live entertainment and friendly locals added to the ambiance. It truly feels that you've stepped way back in time. The Thai food concession added to the wonder. If your thing is bicycle riding, you're situated on 30 miles of improved RR bed - fantastic riding. Coopers Landings is out of the way but unique and we would return in a heart beat. - richb
Aug 2015 - $21.00
This is and ATV park but also has biking and hiking trails as well as a lake/water trail. It was very quiet while we were there, perhaps due to the rainy weather. Park is about 10 miles north of Columbia on 63. Not hard to find but it doesn't jump out at you either. Campground is a couple of miles from the check-in so you have to drive in to find a spot and then drive back to register. Nice shower house and paved, mostly level sites. I would avoid the place in midsummer but it has several attractions that others no doubt value. - oldmac
Jul 2012 - $28.00
Still being worked on. Bathrooms but no showers. On river and close to bike trail. Good for dogs. Lots of room during week, supposedly fills up on weekends. - mjtesky
Jun 2012 - $28.00
Quiet and out of the way. Good size slots. Host was not only gracious and accommodating, but beautiful. - Boondockdad
Jun 2012 - $28.00
The positives of this campground were full hookup plus sewer, fairly close to interstate, nice host, quiet, and a boat dock. However the negatives overrode the positives for us. The small park was right on the Katy Trail and had a lot of potential. Sadly, it was overgrown and unkempt, other campers were few and a little questionable, the store was only open on weekends, and it was riverside but not scenic. It was like camping in a farm field that had not been mowed. We meant to stay and ride the trail, but we left after one night. Would not stay here again. - busyteach
Aug 2016 - $28.00
This campground may be a work in progress, I hope so. It is a wonderful wooded setting. No Wi-Fi. Utilities worked but hardware was questionable. A couple miles south of I-70 and was VERY quiet. To get there, however, the road was dusty and rough including potholes. The campground entrance road also needs work. Nice people. If you are self contained and want peace and quiet this is the place. - gumper
May 2016 - $28.00
Older scenic RV park. New owners constantly updating the grounds. Mile and half from Route 70 on gravel road, best to arrive during daylight. Several pull thru gravel base sites with full hook up. Two nicely stocking fishing ponds. Close to Route 70 but very quiet. We did laundry while playing a game of pool in the somewhat rustic clubhouse. Stayed two nights, we will return. - Jeannie and Eddy
Aug 2015 - $28.00
This a good park for overnighting with lots of room and easy access sites. Owner is very friendly and led us to our site. There must be plenty to do in the area as many fellow campers we met were there for a week. The county road from the highway to the campground was indeed terribly dusty, a situation the owner can't do anything about. We were headed home so it didn't matter to us, but may have kept us away if we were in week 1 instead of week 6. - BamaRambler
Oct 2009 - $20.00
This is primarily a mobile home park with no shower/bathroom facilities. They have 24 RV sites and we use them every time we are in the area. Gravel sites that are level. $100 per week. The hosts are pleasant and helpful!!! Good access to area attractions. - DesertRat
Aug 2014 - $20.00
This campground must be a work in progress. It is a little further off the highway than expected and down a winding lane that has not been graded recently. Full hookup sites are back in. Pull thru sites have "available" water, Our site had full facilities. Utilities worked fine. Showers were clean, individual bathrooms. Big rigs would find it challenging to negotiate and chose a site. I would not return here. - Yeager
Aug 2014 - $19.00
We just stayed at this beautiful, wooded, campground. We stayed at campsite 11, but there are many good sites to choose from. The showers and bathrooms are clean and spacious. The hosts are great and we can't wait to come back for our next visit which we already have reserved. - ArtPainter
Jun 2014 - $28.00
This was not our first choice for a campground in the Columbia area but the one where we usually stay was full so this was the next best we could find. The lack of Internet was very inconvenient. This is a very rustic campground. By that I mean lots of trees and natural landscaping. It has more of a woodsy feel. The sites were gravel but well maintained. We were able to use our satellite dish. The owners were very nice and were helpful in answering questions and giving information. The campground was quiet at night which is important to us. There were a few barking dogs but not for extended periods of time as we have experienced at other campgrounds. It is located a bit off the main road and there is a fairly steep gravel hill into the campground but we negotiated it with no trouble. If a resort-like atmosphere, pool, and Internet is important to you then this is not the campground for you. We would stay here again. - cgrubbs
