Older KOA that is maintained Okay but could use some gravel in spots to cover mud and help level sites. Highway noise but tolerable if air conditioners were running. But nothing can mask the sound of the train traffic just on the other side of the highway. Must average at least one train per hour including all night long. My site was right next to the road so if you were further away it might not be as noticeable. We camped at St. Louis West / Historic Route 66 KOA in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Easy to get to from I 44. Interior roads a little tight for long combination vehicles but once in the site okay on length. Park could use more obvious placement of trash bins, or at least mark them on their park map. Staff was friendly. Close to Purena Farms, a nice stop for dog and cat people as well as entertaining for kids with milking demos, farm animal petting and dog agility demos. Shaw Nature Center would be nice in the Spring or a little later in the fall as the leaves begin to turn.

Staff was nice. There are many amenities for people with children such as a pool, bicycles, and a bounce house. There are a lot of children playing unsupervised at the entrance - we almost hit one on a big wheel as he rode around our truck and trailer. However the rear of the campground is more secluded and the staff seems to put people without children back there. The scenery in the back was beautiful but you can hear the hum of the interstate.

Ask to stay in the back of the park. We camped at St. Louis West / Historic Route 66 KOA in a Travel Trailer.

The folks here were very friendly and the camp was quite busy, right on rt. 66. Nice facilities, pool, nice gift shop with supplies, our site was a bit in need of some fresh gravel (little muddy). The bathrooms and showers are in need of updating (old formica, old tile floors) but clean enough to use and were comfortable. We would stay here again. Check in was quick and easy. Shown to site and received help positioning coach. No issues with water electric and cable, but WiFi was slow. Site was level and roads were okay. There were areas of grass that appeared to be very long and in need of cutting. This distracted from the appearance of the park. Train in the distance but not an issue. Great park for a night while traveling in the area or touring the St Louis area. We will stay here again. We camped at St. Louis West / Historic Route 66 KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

We stayed here for 3 nights and really enjoyed our stay. Check in was easy and everyone was very friendly. The cookies were a nice touch as well. We were here for our grandsons baseball tournament and actually booked 4 nights. We didn't need to stay the 4th night due to our grandson losing earlier than expected, they gave us a refund for the 4th night, no hassle, no problem, with a smile. Highly recommend this campground!

Our site was very nice. It was further back; the noise from the highway did not affect us at all. It was an end site so we had more room than some of the other sites beside us. There was 2 nice chairs by the fire pit on our site. The only tip I would suggest would be to find another spot for the storage RV's. They are the first thing you see when you pull up to the campground and it looks kind of junky. Also, wi-fi was not great. Worked for short periods of time. But we really enjoyed our stay! We camped at St. Louis West / Historic Route 66 KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

This was an excellent overnight stop for us. We requested the premium site and it was very nice. It had a brand new patio with a lot of new furniture, a fire pit and a brand new grill. We would definitely stay here again. We camped at St. Louis West / Historic Route 66 KOA in a Motorhome.

Average KOA. Little more expensive but plenty for the kids to do. One thing I can't understand is the little recumbent bikes that kids can rent and drive around the campground where people are trying to maneuver large vehicles with limited visibility. It seemed like a matter of time before someone gets hit. Close to 66 and Six Flags, so good location. Sites are not as small as other KOAs, but there is no definition between sites, common areas, or whatever, so if your site ends up being between other sites and say a bathroom or showers, people would walk right thru your site. Not a problem with the campground as much as the crowd, but still relevant. We camped at St. Louis West / Historic Route 66 KOA in a Travel Trailer.

This is a very solid KOA, close to Six Flags St. Louis, with a very friendly, helpful staff. Check-in was easy.

We were placed in a gravel pull through and guided to the site. Good thing we were as the sites were not well marked and you could easily pull into the wrong one. It was a little off level, but everything functioned correctly. Site was a little overgrown, grass all around the park was not too long, but was due for a cutting.

We stayed midweek to visit Six Flags for a convention, did not spend much time in the campground during the day. At night it was very quiet, even with the highway close by, I didn't pick up on much road noise.

Bath house was clean and well maintained, and the store was nice and well stocked. Staff was both friendly and very knowledgeable of local attractions. Would stay again if in the area. We camped at St. Louis West / Historic Route 66 KOA in a Travel Trailer.

it's what you would expect from a KOA park. well kept and clean although we didn't use showers or bathrooms. paved roads but gravel sites and not all were level. basic cable tv stations. You could have trouble getting satellite signal here. they rent bikes and other vehicles. nice play areas for kids. pool looks nice but it was not open when we were here in mid April. mornings you'll hear a lot of highway traffic and there are some loud trains. I would come back. Staff was helpful and friendly. We camped at St. Louis West / Historic Route 66 KOA in a Motorhome.

This KOA is located on Historic US Route 66 and just down the road from Six Flags St. Louis. It is also easy on-and-off from I-44. We spent two nights here and enjoyed very mild December weather. We had a full hook-up site, but did not use the water because temps did get below freezing at night. Campground staff were very friendly and accommodating. The bathrooms/showers while not new are well maintained and very clean. The campground is on a slope, and we did need blocks under our front wheels to get level on our pull-through 30 amp site. Sites are gravel, with ample trees for shade, a bit of grass, and include a fire pit and picnic table. The Wi-Fi was great (granted the campground is far from full). I was able to upload pictures from my SLR digital camera (big files) on my laptop from our rig . Oftentimes, my laptop will not connect to campground Wi-Fi sitting on the office porch. The "free" cable included about 20 analog channels. Only complaint would be noise from the trains passing by and road noise from I-44. Some trains were louder than others. At least there was no whistle blowing! We camped at St. Louis West / Historic Route 66 KOA in a Motorhome.

We are staying here as part of a caravan, so the price is unknown to us. This is a KOA Campground,so it is pretty standard setup. Everything worked as they should. On a very positive note... They have the best Internet of any campground I have stayed at. But remember it is not "SECURED", so keep that in mind. We have a pull through spot and it was more than big enough for a 40' and tow vehicle. There is some highway noise and train noise, but no horn from the train, you can hear it as it passes. They hand out a flyer with info on shopping, fuel and activities in or near this campground... I would stay here again if in the area. I was told the nightly rate would be 43.00. When I got there the young man who greeted us said I had some KOA value points and used enough for a $25.00 discount. Great service.
