Overall Rating:

it's what you would expect from a KOA park. well kept and clean although we didn't use showers or bathrooms. paved roads but gravel sites and not all were level. basic cable tv stations. You could have trouble getting satellite signal here. they rent bikes and other vehicles. nice play areas for kids. pool looks nice but it was not open when we were here in mid April. mornings you'll hear a lot of highway traffic and there are some loud trains. I would come back. Staff was helpful and friendly. We camped at St. Louis West / Historic Route 66 KOA in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Six Flags right across the highway and the campground offers discount tickets. Walmart and many other shopping & restaurant options close by.

Date of Stay: December, 2015 - $34.00
Overall Rating:

This KOA is located on Historic US Route 66 and just down the road from Six Flags St. Louis. It is also easy on-and-off from I-44. We spent two nights here and enjoyed very mild December weather. We had a full hook-up site, but did not use the water because temps did get below freezing at night. Campground staff were very friendly and accommodating. The bathrooms/showers while not new are well maintained and very clean. The campground is on a slope, and we did need blocks under our front wheels to get level on our pull-through 30 amp site. Sites are gravel, with ample trees for shade, a bit of grass, and include a fire pit and picnic table. The Wi-Fi was great (granted the campground is far from full). I was able to upload pictures from my SLR digital camera (big files) on my laptop from our rig . Oftentimes, my laptop will not connect to campground Wi-Fi sitting on the office porch. The "free" cable included about 20 analog channels. Only complaint would be noise from the trains passing by and road noise from I-44. Some trains were louder than others. At least there was no whistle blowing! We camped at St. Louis West / Historic Route 66 KOA in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

We drove into St. Louis (about 1/2 hour ride). Really enjoyed taking the tram to the top of the Gateway Arch and also the Old Courthouse located nearby.

We are staying here as part of a caravan, so the price is unknown to us. This is a KOA Campground,so it is pretty standard setup. Everything worked as they should. On a very positive note... They have the best Internet of any campground I have stayed at. But remember it is not "SECURED", so keep that in mind. We have a pull through spot and it was more than big enough for a 40' and tow vehicle. There is some highway noise and train noise, but no horn from the train, you can hear it as it passes. They hand out a flyer with info on shopping, fuel and activities in or near this campground... I would stay here again if in the area. We camped at St. Louis West / Historic Route 66 KOA in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

They have or will give you a flyer for everything in the area. Best internet ever for an RV Park.

Typical KOA; friendly staff, clean, well maintained grounds. Free cookies & coffee; good wifi & cable. Nice store with cute gifts. Close to Walmart & Six Flags. Only here for one night. We camped at St. Louis West / Historic Route 66 KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

Walmart, Six Flags.

I was told the nightly rate would be 43.00. When I got there the young man who greeted us said I had some KOA value points and used enough for a $25.00 discount. Great service. The site we had was a pull thru. We were close to the railroad but minimal noise. We camped at St. Louis West / Historic Route 66 KOA in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

There are numerous restaurants nearby, also plenty of shopping.

Nice park and good service but adjacent to an interstate highway and an operating railroad, and our site was at the intersection of the two. Noisy! We camped at St. Louis West / Historic Route 66 KOA in a Motorhome.

We stayed here several years ago and are amazed at the improvements since then. Owners and staff working hard to make this a premier KOA site. Work still in progress but big improvements overall. Suggest more emphasis be placed on wifi. A big use item to stay connected. We camped at St. Louis West / Historic Route 66 KOA in a Motorhome.

Park is almost right next to 6 Flags. We were there for RV repairs.

Staff is excellent and very helpful. They rent out bikes, 3 wheelers et.al. for the kids...they love it! We camped at St. Louis West / Historic Route 66 KOA in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Byerly RV is the place to go for service and sales. We had a major slide out problem that would take 2 weeks for parts and repairs. They could have done it, but we decided to get it done at home.

One of the nicer KOAs we have stayed at. People working there are very nice and will help in any way. Nice facilities with usual KOA amenities (pool, trike rentals, store, etc.). Easy in and out with our 38' motorhome and toad. Our site was a little tight but long enough for coach and toad (unhooked). Very close to Six Flags St Louis and easy access to all St Louis has to offer. Some highway noise but not bad. Some shade but was able to get satellite reception. This was our first trip in our new motorhome, dealer paid for the two nights we stayed. Would stay again if visiting this area or for a night stopover. We camped at St. Louis West / Historic Route 66 KOA in a Motorhome.

This park worked very well as an overnight stop. The staff member who greeted us was quite efficient and friendly, and went out of his way to provide us with instructions on how to get to a multitude of local attractions and facilities. The park Internet worked extremely well at our site, as did the cable TV service. Roads in the park are rather windy and mostly gravel, but we didn't have any trouble maneuvering and were given an escort to our site. Two sewer connections were provided at our site. This park does not appear to recycle. We camped at St. Louis West / Historic Route 66 KOA in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Route 66 State Park is a short drive away and has nice biking/jogging trails. There is no charge for admission.

Managers and staff were very friendly. The sites were spacious and had lots of trees. Nice setting. The Wi-Fi worked fairly well. We did note that the facilities in the park, restrooms and laundry, were in need of cleaning and maintenance work. The final thought is that it is close to our relatives and we would be willing to give it another chance. We camped at St. Louis West / Historic Route 66 KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

I stayed here last year and was not very impressed. This year however, was different. The staff was very friendly and they offered a site that was level so we didn't need to separate truck from camper. The office attendant even told me exactly where to park, within the site, in order to be perfectly level. We only stayed the one night so we didn't use any of the facilities. We will stay here again. We camped at St. Louis West / Historic Route 66 KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

We were met by staff who gave the family hot chocolate chip cookies and then guided us into our site. Campgrounds clean and well manicured. It was obvious many new renovations and addition had been done. There are lots of activities for kids to do. A mining station are on the grounds for children to enjoy. The camp store is well stocked with necessities for camping and other items to make the camping experience even more fun! Our family had a wonderful experience they still talk about. We will return! We camped at St. Louis West / Historic Route 66 KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

Six flags is very close. We enjoyed two days at Six flags while camping at the KO

This is a very rustic campground, staff were friendly and helpful at check in. Main road is paved but the other ones are gravel. Our pad was gravel mixed with dirt and weeds, it was a pull-through and fairly level, but sites were close together, big rig access was fine. Little privacy, and with trains, road noise, and kids running around it was noisy!  Plenty of space for the towed so no need to unhook if you are just staying one night. There were some shade trees and grass with a barbecue and picnic table. A small pool that was very crowded. Bathrooms were clean but old. I did not check the laundry. There was a small dog park. Wi-Fi and cell were good. Six Flags and other attractions are just down the road. Very good access to 1-44. This was fine as a one night stopover for us, however we did think it was expensive and it is certainly aimed more towards families.  We camped at St. Louis West / Historic Route 66 KOA in a Motorhome.

This is a very nice campground. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The restrooms/showers were very clean. The pool was large and nice. The sites were large enough to fit our tow vehicle into. They had plenty of evening activities to do after some sightseeing during the day. The campground is very close to Six Flags, although we did not check it out. We would stay here again. We camped at St. Louis West / Historic Route 66 KOA in a Travel Trailer.
