We loved this KOA. Staff was great, KOA was very clean, bathrooms clean, and lots of things for kids/families to do. My only complaint is that some sites are very tight and some are large....all the same priced site. We were in A-14 and our site sitting area was literally a foot away from the site next door's sewer connection, so sitting outside our view was of the camper next door and their connections. While the site on the other side of use had triple the space between sites as ours did. Many sites were on slopes, which made leveling tough. I would recommend paying more to get the sites at the bottom with the patios. Or call ahead and ask for a site with space to it. We camped at St. Louis West / Historic Route 66 KOA in a Travel Trailer.

We stayed here as a "trial run" for our new travel trailer as it was fairly close to home. Staff was great! Always helpful and cheery. Lots of kid and family activities. The pool is great. No problems getting in or out of the campground. Our spot was fairly level and had gravel. There are some really nice sites with pavers and patio furniture as well. The Wifi was strong and I got 10mb/down at my camp site. That really surprised me. The "choo-choo" ride runs (free) at 10AM and 6PM every night. My toddler never missed a ride. Lots of friendly campers to interact with. Also many people camping with their dogs. There's a train that runs nearby. It was noticeable but never bad IMO. We will stay here again. Overall Rating:

To say the least it was a busy weekend at this KOA campground. There are numerous pull thru and back in sites with full hook up along with cable, WiFi, picnic tables, and fire rings. Some sites have a cement or stone patio with table and chairs depending on what you are willing to pay for a night stay. There are also cabins for rent. This park is dog friendly with a dog park and caters to children with a pool, rental tricycles, large jumping pillow, playground, and motorized train ride on weekends only. The resort has laundry facilities, restrooms, showers, horseshoe pits, ping pong tables, basketball court, propane filling station, along with a dump station. The staff is very helpful, friendly, and courteous to all. If I had to state anything negative, it would be the children throughout the park running wild. I must warn the adults to be very careful driving throughout the park for this reason. This is more so on weekends than weekdays. This park is Kid friendly. BEWARE when Driving. This campground is within 30 minutes of downtown St. Louis. We camped at St. Louis West / Historic Route 66 KOA in a Travel Trailer.

Overall Rating:

We were here for a dog show and wanted a park convenient to Purina Farms. This campground is about 8 miles away and is almost as close as you can get without staying at Purina. There are lots of trees so satellite reception isn't guaranteed. There are sites with different levels of service at different rates. We had water and 50 amp electric but no sewer for $40-47/night (more for weekends). Several sites, including ours, require extra blocking to level the trailer on the slope. Main roads are paved (with potholes) and sites are mostly gravel. Very friendly staff. We'll stay here again for next year's dog show. $54.00 for an overnight stay is TOO much. We stayed here in November and paid $45 - a lot, but doable. Now, in April, the cost is almost 25% higher. The site was not level and we requested a move, which was to a site that also was not very level. We camped at St. Louis West / Historic Route 66 KOA in a Motorhome.

Overall Rating:

This park is loaded with amenities, especially for kids. It has a well-stocked store and a good size fenced dog park. However, the basic infrastructure for the park is old and in need of repair. Our biggest concern on arrival was that the sites are obviously not level. Our guide assured us once we pulled into our site, we would find it perfectly level. Well, it wasn't. It took 3 blocks under each front wheel to get level, which is quite a lift. Other spots were downright hilly or had large humps or dips in them. The bathrooms and showers were superficially clean, but the air vents are frightening and the floor drains are rusty. The men's shower had no shelf for soap/shampoo in the shower and only 1 of 2 had a bench to sit and put on socks and shoes. One women's room was closed for remodeling so hopefully they are re-doing all of them. They did have water on at the sites but no water at the dump station. They said it was "closed" and should have had cones - but it didn't. They said I could use a FHU site but at this point I already had the hose hooked up and was ready to go. So - I posted a "NO WATER" sign at the dump station for them to warn the next guy. This park need work. We camped at St. Louis West / Historic Route 66 KOA in a Motorhome.

This was a good location for us to visit family. Big rig friendly. Decent campspaces. Sites are narrow but not too bad. We had a space where our satelite worked. Didn't try the cable tv. We were parked close to the road and the train noise is loud, but after a day, barely noticed. Lots of trains!! Are all campgrounds in the Midwest on train tracks?? We're not KOA people, but if you're traveling with kids, they would love it. Lots for kids to do. We would stay again because it's close to our family. This is an older KOA that recent owners are fixing up. A two night stay for us as we headed south for the winter. FHU pull through. In a pinch we might stay here again. We camped at St. Louis West / Historic Route 66 KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

We stayed in site A39. It was just long enough not to unhook our tow vehicle. The park was clean and well organized, check in and reservations were efficient. Like most commercial parks, sites are very close, but adequate for slide-outs. We were not bothered by road or train noise. Definitely an older park with tighter turns and narrow roads, but well maintained. We camped at St. Louis West / Historic Route 66 KOA in a Motorhome.

Excellent park, close to 6 Flags. With 10 minutes to WalMart, restaurants and other shopping. Sites were level and hook ups were good with no issues. Several families camped around us but park was relatively quiet except trains running behind park. That did not bother us, but some might not care for the rumble of trains. We had no issue with hooking towed up and departing from our site. Would definitely stay here again when we come visit our son and his family. Parked on an end of row site. Sewer, water and 50 amp service good. Wifi weak 1 - 2 bar signal only, cable connection very weak/bad and lot of video noise. Told desk clerk on check out, but was basically unconcerned and could care less. Sewer connection concrete was loose where it connects to sewer PVC. Bundle of wood $7.00. Lot of activities available. An older Park that could use some tender loving care and updating. Drive through site, but backed out due to tree on left side of site. Escorted to site, but internal roads have many potholes that need filling. Parked near construction supplies. We camped at St. Louis West / Historic Route 66 KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

The nicest people on Earth run this KOA. I stored my trailer here for a few days in their storage area and then camped in an electric & water site for a night before heading on my way. Storage rate is fantastic and my site was very nice in a quiet, tree lined area. Free coffee and cookies in the check in area and a very nice store. But the staff is what makes this place, I wish all people were as nice as the folks that work at the St. Louis Route 66 KOA. We camped at St. Louis West / Historic Route 66 KOA in a Travel Trailer.

This park is easily accessible from I-44 but a good 30 miles southwest of St. Louis. The staff were very friendly and helpful, providing an escort to our site. Some of the roads and sites are gravel and they produced quite a bit of dust, also the park is quite hilly. That said, our site was pretty level. This is a family friendly park, with a nice pool that can get quite crowded at times. The fresh baked cookie on arrival was a nice touch! As noted on other reviews, there is a lot of train noise. Tips for other Campers:

We were disappointed that there is so much construction around the Jefferson National Expansion Memorial. The museum is closed, but many exhibits have been relocated to the Old Courthouse until renovations are complete. The trip to the top of the arch is not for the faint-hearted or claustrophobic! Get tickets early or online.

About 30% of KOA's I stay have a railroad nearby ... or you can hear one in the distance. This one has a freight line that runs over a bridge about 100 yards away from A31. My RV shook as each one passed, at least one an hour all night ... ouch! Otherwise a nice wooded park with Six Flags close, there were families with young children squealing while using the playground right next to A31. If I return I'll ask for sites A34 thru A45.
