We came from KC area for three nights over the Labor Day weekend. I'm sorry to say we took so long to check out this CG as well as Hannibal. We really enjoyed our stay. The town couldn't be any cuter and the CG was everything we were hoping for. It truly is nestled in a hollow and parts are very shaded with mature trees. It was a sell out crowd and everyone was having a great time. Lots of large groups as well as many people visiting campers. Staff could do a better job enforcing some parking guidelines. We did struggle when we arrived as well as departed because of inconsiderate vehicle owners making narrow roads even more difficult. We are in a 45' motorhome and tow car. Our back in site C13 was plenty long for coach, car, and then some. We actually had no patio to speak of and had to move picnic table just to back in. We had room in front of the coach so that became the patio. No problem. Will come again but will try for F1-F13 as they appeared to have much more spacing. We camped at Mark Twain Cave Campground in a Motorhome.

We stayed here one night as we were passing thru. Very quaint and quiet park. Pull thru had enough room for our RV and tow car. Our site was under a tree and had a difficult time getting all satellite channels. Our fire ring was really close to the slide out. Really liked the grass areas for the dogs. Verizon doesn't work here at all. We may come back and stay in a back in spot as they have more room. We camped at Mark Twain Cave Campground in a Motorhome.

Campground is well maintained. The sites are all gravel, but for the most part level. We were back in the trees, so a lot of shade. Unfortunately, the nut tree was dropping the nut (size of a golf ball). Causes no damage, just loud noise when they hit camper. Difficult to get reception for the TV. Close to Town and the Hannibal trolley does scheduled stops which is convenient when visiting Hannibal. Picnic tables are a little well worn. We camped at Mark Twain Cave Campground in a Motorhome.

The campground was full for the Hootenany Weekend. Nearby campers were very loud and under the influence. We probably would have had a much better experience any other time. If we are back in the area, we will probably give this park another chance. We camped at Mark Twain Cave Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Large park with mature trees, lots of grass, lots of attractions nearby and a trolley downtown. Roads were fine and easy to maneuver as long as you take your time. Our site was long and shaded; we needed two sets of risers to get our 37 foot motorhome level. Electric and water service was fine. No WiFi or OTA television at our site. Our Verizon hot spot didn't work very well either - but we didn't come to charming Hannibal for any of that so we didn't care! We would definitely stay there again. We camped at Mark Twain Cave Campground in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

We took the Mark Twain River Boat Dinner cruise and loved it! Food was good and the band sweet....but it was the lovely, lovely cruise up and down the mighty Mississippi that was more than worth the $40 price. One didn't even have to close one's eyes to "slip back in time" and understand why riverboats were once the transportation method of choice for those with the funds to do it.

Quietest park I've ever been to! Just sit and listen to the birds. Can't say that for too many parks. Shady and open areas. I as in "B" area. It's a pull through but not too level - about a three degree pitch. Did finally get the bubble near the bulls-eye. WiFi is excellent. A few speeders (including hired help). Roads are dirt/gravel. Local info when checking in was deficient. All said, I would return. We camped at Mark Twain Cave Campground in a Motorhome.

The park was a pleasant experience. Our back in site was nice and shaded. Utilities and wifi worked fine. It was quiet. Did have a sandwich at the camp restaurant and it was OK. It is a good camp for the Hannibal attractions just a couple of miles south of town. The restroom/showers are a bit dated and not AC, but were clean. Well worth the cost. Tips for other Campers:

River towns can be nasty but Hannibal is quite nice. The downtown and nearby neighborhoods provide about 100 years of architectural history. Riverboat ride is worthwhile. Local restaurants are affordable. Walmart, fast food, and chain restaurants are (a drive) north of the old town. All in all a very nice balance of touristy and historic.

Campground convenient to Hannibal. Gravel roads and sites. Roads are full of potholes. Rained while we were there. Tried to wash the mud off our tow after we left and it was like concrete. Don't know what was on the gravel road, but it was a mess. Roads poorly maintained, gravel sites OK, grass not cut recently. Fair number of tent campers on the weekend including a scout troop. Mark Twain Cave at the site. OK but I thought expensive for what you got to see. I think that this operation is a cash cow that the owners are not putting much money back into the campground. Bathrooms were old, but OK. They seem to clean them in the prime shower time in the morning though. Not a bad place to camp, but certainly not luxurious. Tips for other Campers:

Nearby Hannibal is a cute little town. Don't bother taking the riverboat tour. Goes only a short distance on the river and there really are no sites of significance to see from the river. Twain house and museum are interesting.

This park is located in the town of Hannibal which makes it a great location for exploring the city. We were quite happy with our spot as we were on the end nestled in the trees and the next closest camper was three sites away from us. Had we been there on a busy weekend, we would have felt cramped. The sites vary considerably from full sun to shade and they vary in terms of space between sites. The water connection was a shared device with a splitter located on the opposite side of our camper requiring the use of extra hose. The site was level and ours was easy to back into. We would stay here again as it appears to be the best place for touring Hannibal. We camped at Mark Twain Cave Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

As previously stated this is an older park. We were in a pull thru site which are very narrow and close. The closeness was not an issue for just an overnight stay, however, since the sites slope somewhat, after we got level having an extra step would have been nice (even with the 4 steps we have). If you don't mind a back in site you should take a look at the "C" section where the sites are very shady. We camped at Mark Twain Cave Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

As others have stated, this is an older park with gravel / partially paved roads, and lots of big mature trees. The middle pull-through spots are in a more open setting, and VERY close together, though our site had a generous buffer that others lacked. Also most of the sites were not quite level to varying degrees. We only needed a few blocks, but I noted a couple larger rigs with the auto-levelers or jacks, that had a wheel completely off the ground to get level. All hookups were satisfactory and worked well. If we were staying again I would probably try to get a site around the outside where there was more cover, and more space between spots. But our Class C is only 21' so no problems fitting in. What sets this location off though are the attractions nearby. Mark Twain Cave of course, but there's also a winery and a small Cafe run by HyVee (a supermarket chain) with very good sandwiches / munchies. Across the road is mini golf and other kitschy attractions, as well as river views. We were there the weekend of the "Brew Skies" music / beer / VW festival and even with those crowds the campground was quiet and orderly. Couldn't even hear the music from our spot. We camped at Mark Twain Cave Campground in a Motorhome.

This appears to be an old and much used campground. It is on the same grounds as the Mark Twain Cave entrance. In that way, the campground was exactly what we needed. We were part of a Genealogy Family Reunion that lasted Wed. - Sun. so the location in Hannibal was very convenient for us. We camped at Mark Twain Cave Campground in a Motorhome.

When approaching this campground from the north, the entrance is about 3/4ths on the downgrade of a hill. It is not banked very well so be careful when pulling in. It appears that it has the capability of not being safe.

Close to Hannibal, walk to Mark Twain cave and winery. Fun Center across the street. Spaces are close together, has both pull through and back in spaces. My pull through was just long enough for my 30 foot trailer and truck without us hitching. Gravel Roads are tight for long motor homes pulling cars or trailers. Gravel site required a couple of boards to get level. We camped at Mark Twain Cave Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Speed limit in Hannibal is enforced. Police wait for you to come rolling down the hill into town a little too fast. Be careful! Plenty of RV parking available along the riverfront. Try The Brick Oven restaurant on Center street.
