Overall Rating:

This city park has two, separate RV areas, near each other and managed by the same parks department. The older one has the lower site numbers, shade trees and was so popular, the City of Hermann installed FHUs in the parking lot of the municipal swimming pool to accommodate more RVers. (To get into the parking lot, use the FIRST entrance ramp. The second entrance ramp is steeper and longer rigs will drag toads.) All RV sites can be reserved on the weekends, not on weekdays. Parking lot sites are level. Some of the sites in the older area need a leveler or two if an RVer has "dug-out" a mud hole leaving in the rain. Bathrooms are thirty-plus-years old and dim so they always look like they need scrubbing even just after they have been cleaned. All the trees were trimmed when we were there in late August. Our site had good electrical and water service. Verizon coverage was poor-to-nonexistent. No OTA TV. Pay station/drop box is on one of the bathhouse doors. Watch for kiddos: this is a lovely city park with playgrounds, playing fields, group gathering shelters, tenting sites, and swimming pool so often there are dozens-to-hundreds of children darting about. We had a lovely midweek stay in Hermann and will be delighted to stay there again. We camped at Hermann City Park Campground in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Take the Deutschheim State Historic Site tour. It has it all: history, drama, appealing architecture, gardens, one (of a hundred) vineyards. This is the Rhineland of America, filled with engaging stories of courageous and resilient people.

Tips for other Campers:

Hermann has a public trolley which does a round-robin route through the surrounding countryside as well as through town. A flat $ fee buys you a hop-on, hop-off capability all day and half the night. Very convenient. We do not tow a vehicle, so cannot address questions/check boxes relative to a tow vehicle.

The Hermann Missouri City Park is a pretty little park near their swimming pool. I've stayed there at least twice before and always enjoyed it. This time I made reservations without giving it a thought. Obviously things had changed since my last time there a few years ago. It was FULL and for $30.00 we were parked on an asphalt parking lot. Granted we had water and electric, but barely had room to put out our awning. I was extremely disappointed and will likely not stay there again. Too bad, we loved it as a small city park with shaded sites. One other comment, cell phone service with Verizon was nearly non-existent. We camped at Hermann City Park Campground in a Motorhome.

Several nice wineries in the area. Lots of history dating from the first half of the 1800's. Visit the cemetery to see view and old stones inscribed in German. The city was founded by the German Settlement Society in 1837. A leader, George Bayer, became disliked because of many hardships so that when he died in 1839, he was buried by himself in the far corner of the cemetery. The cemetery and his grave are worth seeing.

Nice city park located on a large parcel of land. Huge grass areas for kids and dogs. Playground and sports fields. The sites are paved but close. Some are shaded. Utilities were in good working order except I was not happy with the sewer cover. People with kids need to be wary of full hookup sites. You don't know what the last guy spilled around the sewer connection. This one just had a rock covering it up. Tempting to kids to fiddle with. Should have a cap. This little village has much to see and do. Wineries are the main attraction. The full hook up area of the park was filled on the weekend. We made reservations for the weekend ahead of time. Price for full hookup was $30. Site was marked with our name and reservation dates. My only negative was the group parked behind us. While we were backing in they shouted that they hoped we like to party till 4:00am which they did. There is no staff on site to enforce any quiet time if there is one. Nothing on the website indicated there was. The rest of the folks in here seemed to quiet shortly after dark. Some people are just rude. The site next to them was empty when we got here. It was reserved for two days. They probably left due to the noisy neighbors the night before. Other than there is no host or staff to watch over things, this is a nice place to stay while visiting Hermann. We camped at Hermann City Park Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Hermann is an interesting little village. Take time to just walk around and browse. There are several good restaurants also. We ate at Harvest Table. The salted caramal pie was made from scratch and very good.

We were originally assigned spot #44. We told them when we reserved that we had a 38foot coach. We arrived to find #44 was barely big enough for a small car. Fortunately there were some cancellations, so we were able to get another spot.

The services are all over the map and not well maintained. The sewer hookup had a piece of rock shoved into the opening to cover it. Some had 50 amp, some 30, some sewer and other none. Part of the spaces are in a huge asphalt parking lot. We camped at Hermann City Park Campground in a Motorhome.

Park phone number is monitored on weekends by the police department. Was told to find a parking spot without a reserved sign and park there. Arrived and all but three sites were reserved with tags but the park had only about ten rvs. It seems the tags are left until the next time the site is reserved. Most were a week old. I mentioned this to a park department employee and was told his boss did not think it was important enough to remove the old reserved tags. Very sad leadership example from the park department supervisor. Nice park very well kept just some old attitudes keep it from being a great value and park. We camped at Hermann City Park Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Great little park. They have mostly back-ins, but 3 of the 18 sites in the main park are pull through's. The utilities are well-placed and worked well. There is an additional RV parking area just across the park with full hookups, all paved back-ins. These are sites 19-43. We enjoyed our stay here. There is no Verizon internet in Hermann, but they tell me that ATT works well. Our Verizon cellphone worked OK. We got just one primary OTA channel. It's an easy 10-min walk to the public library, open at 9:00. They have open wifi there. We'd definitely stay here again if in the area. We camped at Hermann City Park Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

Hermann is a very cool little town. Lots of restored 1800's buildings. Lots of shops & restaurants. There's Stone Hill winery close to the park, but a steep climb. They have an authentic German restaurant, "Vintage". We didn't try it but we heard it's the best restaurant in town if you like German food. It's an easy walk into and around town. Nice waterfront area along the Missouri River. Amtrak goes right through town. 2 trains a day to either St. Louis or Kansas City.

We camped here on a Sunday. Sites are reserved on weekends but many free sites by Sunday afternoon when we got there. I thought this was a lovely park with nice shade but not too much as we were able to use our dish with no problems. Full hookup site - back in. Asphalt pad was nice & level with picnic table & fire ring. Many wineries in the area & Hermann has a trolley that will pick you up at campground & take you to & from all of them for a low rate all day pass. We parked close to the road, however, and had a lot of traffic noise. We will definitely stay here again. We camped at Hermann City Park Campground in a Motorhome.

The campground itself is nice because of the proximity to area surroundings. The only complaint is the restrooms. Considering the rate of 30 dollars per night I think the city should be able to fix up the insides or the restrooms and update. Painting of floors and walls would be a great improvement. With us that have a camper to rely on if restrooms are not satisfactory is one thing but there are tent campers, people from park, people on bikes, people using shelter house and walkers that use them and would be important to have better facilities. We were at this park during the week of the last week of the Hermann Octoberfest, which is on the weekends in October. They only take reservations for the weekends and every site was booked with some reservations starting on Thursday. The full hookup sites were nicely graveled back-ins and pull-throughs. A few were long enough for big rigs. They are not that far away from the main highway through town and there is traffic noise during the day. With the windows closed, we did not hear anything at night. The electric/water sites are all back-ins in a large paved lot (RV length not really an issue for these sites). They are farther from the highway, but are a good distance across an atheletic field to the bathroom and showers. While the facilities were clean, the concrete floor needs repainting giving the appearance of being dirty. There were some trees for shade but we had no trouble placing the dish where we could get a satellite signal. 3G Verizon internet was slow as it is in many rural areas. We saw some folks walking their dogs or jogging but since the weather was cool, the park was not busy. We camped at Hermann City Park Campground in a Travel Trailer.

This park is probably quiet nice in the spring, but the weather was cold and rainy when we camped here, which caused the lower rating. There is a lot of road noise as the campground sits at the intersection of MO-19 and MO-100. The bathrooms were "closed for cleaning" the entire time we were there. There were a lot of local teens in the park after hours, which made it a little creepy. We paid for two nights, left after one night. We camped at Hermann City Park Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Park is expensive for what it offers. As there are no other parks in this area, we would stay here again if we needed to be in the area. Nice park, quiet, clean and a lot of activities. This is a city park that has RV sites. Lots of wineries in the area, if you are into that sort of thing. We camped at Hermann City Park Campground in a Motorhome.

What a surprise, a good city run RV campground with full hookups and level shaded sites. All facilities function correctly and the restrooms, although basic, are clean and well maintained. Hermann is a neat town with great wineries. Well worth the visit and we will stay here again. We camped at Hermann City Park Campground in a Motorhome.
