16 Parks near Independence, Missouri
Jul 2016 - $20.00
The manager is the nicest ever of any park in the world! When I pulled in he guided me to the RV site. OK, not unusual, however, he then proceed to do all the hookups--water, electric, and sewer! I can't begin to state the many things that he did to make sure that our stay was pleasurable. He even drove me to a local car rental agency in his own vehicle. The site was level, paved, and all the hookups worked great. Also, the location is perfect, near Royals Stadium, I-70, and close to local restaurants and shopping. - chiro
Jun 2016 - $23.00
Stayed for 10 nights at Passport America rate. Mobile home park with RV spaces. Basic park with no amenities. 50amp service, water, and sewer all worked well. What made this park excellent was the great service by the owner/manager and the cleanliness of the park. Will stay here again if in the area. Parked second space from the highway and was not bothered by the road noise. - Pastor Bob
Jun 2016 - $23.00
The park is very nice and quiet. It is located 8 minutes from downtown town Kansas City and is close to hiking trails that are in the area. It was a mobile home park but the owner is changing each site into an RV site as the people move out. We would go there again. - LHeil
Jul 2016 - $28.00
This is a great little park, especially for an overnight stay. You have to navigate city streets to get to the park, but we had no difficulties with a 38' motorhome pulling a Jeep. Staying at this park also allows you to bypass a lot of Kansas City Interstate traffic. We had one of the 4 pull thru sites which are on concrete slabs. Our site (#2) was level and large enough for our rig. It was easy to get into and out of the park. There is no cable TV, but we could pick up lots of TV stations with our antenna. Wi-Fi was slow. We would stay here again. - Thor MC
Jun 2016 - $28.00
There is nothing special about this campground. What it does have going for it is location. I believe that this is only park within downtown Independence.
The interior roads are on asphalt and all sites are on cement. All sites are back-ins except for 4 sites. All sites have FHU with the utility boxes containing 15, 30 and 50 amps. The voltage was strong - hovering around 122 volts. The electrical box and water spigot are close to each other and are located in the appropriate location. The sewer is located closer to the back of the site. The sites appear to be fairly level and can accommodate large rigs.
All sites have a picnic table and there is a communal fire pit near the office. There is a laundry room with (3) washers costing $1 and (3) dryers costing $1per load. The laundry room was very clean. There is also a bathroom with (1) private shower and (2) shower heads in another area per gender. Both showers are separated by a curtain. The bathroom was fairly clean but not very appealing.
WiFi was spotty, some days it was strong other days it was weak. Verizon air card and cell phone reception was good. There is some railroad noise.
Follow the directions on the web site - not your GPS. The web site directs you to the campground via truck routes. Many of the local streets are narrow.
We have a 32 foot 5th wheel. We would come back to this campground. - adsaxs
May 2016 - $29.00
Convenient location to Independence. Most sites are back-in, single wide road, easy entry and exit. No frills. Picnic table needs repair or replacing. There is a train nearby but it did not disturb us. Good base to visit the area.
Would stay there again. - Rimdel
Jun 2016 - $25.00
Laundry, bathrooms, and located next to a very large lake. No WiFi; cell phone service is available. Lots are pretty level for a state park. Each one has a curb in the back, which works excellent for your back jacks. Great for a overnight stop, 10 minutes off highway 70. Take second exit off 470 if coming from 70, its much more manageable. - SprintingAcrossAmerica
Jun 2016 - $28.00
This is a good overnight stop. There are no amenities although they do have one washer and one dryer. It is being well maintained.
This park is easy to get to if you know where you are going. It is actually on Campground Road in Lee's Summit and the sign is so tiny you could easily miss the turn. - Esse
Oct 2015 - $24.00
We recommend this campground to either visit the Kansas City area or as a good place for a one night stop as you drive through the area. There is a good assortment of sites with various hook up options. Sites are well spaced, gravel, but many required leveling. Camp hosts very friendly and offered suggestions on places to visit. Grounds kept clean and well maintained. Campground has security gate to reduce non-campers from driving through the area. - linnemj
Jul 2016 - $44.00
There's a great pool, a laundry and game room. The staff was most helpful, the noise from the road and the rides wasn't bad (previous reviews warned about that) and the landscaping really helped screen one site from another. - Jlcamper
Jul 2016 - $47.00
I can understand why this park gets high reviews but we would probably never stay here again. The pros are that the park is well laid out and although you are VERY close to your neighbor, the way the lots are laid out it feels like you have a lot more room with trees for privacy. Check in was easy. The cons are plenty. Signage is terrible. The entrance is dangerous for RVs (although thanks to reviews here, we knew what to expect and planned very well for this). There were fireworks every night that made it sound like WWIII in our very well-equipped Class A where we rarely hear sounds (I wish they had told us about this - from 10 pm - 10:20 it was hellacious). It is right near a busy road with trucks that have their engine breaks on that made tons of noise. The worst part about this park is the residents, who were by far the worst we've come across in all our travels. There were at least 6 loose dogs and the park did nothing to curb it (we almost saw a dog get hit by an unexpecting RV). The neighbors two lots down from us lit off fireworks that exploded over our rig (park officials did something about it, thankfully). A ton of people parked in the street which seemed odd to us considering this was an RV park - made it difficult to navigate around. I think the holiday weekend had a lot to do with our experience but it was enough to never want to come back. The layout does not make up for all the negatives of this park. - Kamnel
Jun 2016 - $45.00
Most comments so far are spot on. Nice clean park but best use is for going to the amusement park, which we were rather disappointed with. Seemed poorly run, being a Cedar Fair park we expected much more. Campground sites are nice and all hook ups worked well. Very little shade but park staff was friendly and helpful. Do no think we will return. - DBLR
Jul 2016 - $30.00
Super friendly camp hosts! Many of the sites are pull through, and we had a lake view from ours (28, 30 also has a nice view). Huge sites, lots of room between them, a nice playground for the kids and tons of grassy area to run and play. - A_GF_Mom
May 2016 - $28.00
Price reflects senior rate for a fhu back in gravel site. County park is gated with a security code. Sites are spacious and the setting is serene although the park is located well within the city. A few sites have lake views and many are not very level. Roof top satellite reception can be a problem with some sites. Verizon works well. Restaurants and shopping are available within a few miles. Late check outs until 3 pm so you won't want to arrive too early. Stay is limited to 14 days. We will stay again. - BigRigTravelerUSA
May 2016 - $30.00
One of our favorite camping areas. Large sites with privacy to allow sitting out in comfort. Few full hook up 50 amp sites so book early. Playgrounds and places to walk the pups. - User1308
Mar 2011 - $32.00
This place is a dump! We could hardly get in the very small sites. We have a small MH with a toad, and didn't think we were going to be able to get out. Units here looked to be temporary, long term and were not pleasant to look at. Believe them to be transient workers or something worse. The price is outrageous for the quality, and all descriptions were certainly misleading and very much in error. If we hadn't been so tired, we would've left! - stonybirch
Aug 2009 - $31.00
This park is accessible to I-35, but access to sites is poor for larger RVs. It is an older RV park and is pretty run down. Immediate neighbors are a construction yard and Lowe's store. Streets are narrow and in poor condition. We felt that the rates were misleading in the campground guide as last year was listed as $24. We would not return in the future. - RV Camper1
Jul 2009 - $30.00
Nice park. Very convenient for staying on the north side of Kansas City, MO. Friendly and courteous office staff. Only drawback is noise from I-35. - cooksonqt
Sep 2015 - $31.00
Wonderful, very helpful and pleasant personnel. Easy access to site. Fairly level site.
The not so good:
Mediocre facilities. NOT a full hookup site for $31.00.
Directly next to I-70 with a decibel level somewhere in the MILLIONS!
(Okay, well the noise level felt like that!) - A Pseudonym
Sep 2015 - $31.00
We were very disappointed with this park, called and asked for a pull thru with full hookups, the person on the phone confirmed they had one available. When we arrived we were told that full hookups were for their monthly customers. We were given a spot that was so tight, we had to drive back around the park and come in from a different way. Our RV was parked across from a subdivision on one side and highway on the back side, it was noisy all night. For pet owners there is a pet restriction listed on the front door of the office. No dog over 75lbs and there are several breeds not allowed. I am not sure how Good Sam can list this campground with the high scores they have for them and would suggest that someone from Good Sam visit this campground. - thejones357
Aug 2015 - $34.00
Park is old, but clean. One side is full hookups, other side water/electric only. Restrooms clean/showers more than adequate. Almost didn't stay here due to bad reviews, but glad we did. Stayed 2 nights. - spdrlgs65
Jul 2016 - $30.00
Sites were very spacious, with no trees which made for good OTA (over the air) channels or satellite reception. Beach was on the other side of the lake which is about a 20 minute drive and it closes early! We arrived on a Sunday afternoon so the campground was not very busy. Check in staff was very friendly. Firewood and ice are available at check in. - Fun finders
Sep 2015 - $28.00
Stayed overnight because our first choice, a private park, was full up for a rally. SO glad we found this park instead. It is a county park, but you'd never know it. we had a pull through with full hook up, including sewer at our site. campsites arranged in loops around huge open fields. The lake is beautiful, but we were enroute to another destination, so did not get to explore local area. Over air TV good, clear line of site for satellite. did not use bath or laundry. - Cricket49
May 2015 - $19.00
Very nice quiet park not a long way from the Interstate. The campground itself is a ways from the lake facilities so you have to drive a ways to get there. It is a bit difficult to find and though I'd been here before it seemed like I must have gotten off the track before we got to the campground. There were only a few other sites occupied while we were there but lots of birds to watch and deer that came through in the evening. We will definitely stay here again when in the area. - oldmac
Jun 2016 - $43.00
Definitely a "have/have not" campground. We were in the have not section with no trees at all, but the pull-thrus closer to the bathrooms and pool had beautiful huge trees to shade them.
They do have two wonderful pet runs and a huge grassy area for group tent camping (but no trees).
Insist on being near the bathrooms so you get a shaded spot. - Scldg
Jun 2016 - $30.00
This is a very clean, well organized park. We arrived without a reservation after leaving an unacceptable campground 40 miles away. We were treated nicely here and escorted to a lovely tent site. The pool was clean and delightful and the restrooms impeccable. - llamalady
Jun 2016 - $43.00
Minimal leveling required at site. Utility setup really close to neighbor making your own site smaller/disrupted by utilities. Nice group camping area. Nice dog runs. Low water pressure from shower heads. Our site is for a motorhome towing car. To leave our site in toad, you have to back up passed 4 sites due to layout of sites. - Ms Winnie
Jun 2016 - $30.00
The park is basically a parking lot. It is surrounded by trees, but units are jammed in very close together and many of them seemed permanent. It is about a mile off I-35. It wasn't pretty, but it served its purpose. All sites are back-in. We have a 24' class C and I wouldn't have wanted to drive anything bigger into this place. - suerover
Jun 2016 - $45.00
We were in a "premium" pull thru, which was the only available spot when I called 2 weeks. We were in town for a wedding and this is the only close rv park. Really not a "rv park" as we know them but very nice people. Lots of long term folks here. There are many trains rumbling through during the night. Easy to get to from I-35. - ontheroadmama
May 2016 - $36.00
The park is basic, with very few amenities. The park is very small, and the camping sites are close together. Although, we did navigate our site OK with a 34 foot fifth wheel. You have to walk a ways to find any grass for your pets. The office lady who checked us in and led us to our site was very friendly and helpful. Overall, we would probably not stay at this park again, although it was convenient to the Kansas City area attractions. - Krissy r
