Level, close back in sites. Friendly owner. Very near Pres. Truman stuff. Very noisy trains nearby. Can't complain because it was very close to where my son lives. We camped at The Campus RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.Undo

This is the 2nd time we have stayed at this park. The folks are friendly. We store our RV in an underground cave near here and used this as a stage up and stage down park. It works well for that. When we left our RV last fall to return home, we left a day early to get our rig parked before the rain. To our surprise, when we rescheduled this year, they told us we had a day's credit since we had left early. A welcome and unrequested surprise. Not many amenities, but there is lots to do in the area. We will return here again. We camped at The Campus RV Park in a Travel Trailer.Undo

We stay here occasionally and this stop was no different than in the past. The friendly efficient staff member checked us in quickly and assigned our site. The paved site was clean and neat. These sites are big enough for the RV and a picnic table. Utilities are well located for a motorhome. The rate quoted is for Good Sam discount. Good value for urban area. This is a popular park so reservations are highly recommended as there are only three pull-through sites. All conveniently located near the entrance. If assigned a pull through site, I suggest you call in advance for your site number and park before registering. We had site 4 which was on the end with an open area on both sides. However, it is also the closest site to the railroad which runs along W.Pacific. The amphitheater shown on their park map is no longer in use. The location was an easy drive to local attractions like the Truman Presidential Library and the World War I museum in Kansas City. We would definitely stay here again. Hooks worked well. Campground was clean. Location is excellent. Wifi was not good, had to use our own hotspot. This campground is in the best location. Walking distance to Independence and driving distance to so many historical attractions. Do not miss the Union Cemetery in Kansas City. We camped at The Campus RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.Undo

Another somewhat off the beaten track campground, but nestled right in the Independence downtown area. All the sites have concrete pads and full hook-ups. The laundry is clean and only costs $1 for the washer and dryer. Use 500 W. Pacific for your GPS address to take you to the entrance. We camped at The Campus RV Park in a Motorhome.Undo

This park is nice, clean and near KC attractions. However, the trains passed through most of the night. Because there are several ungated crossings, the whistle blew several times as each train traveled by the campground...and the whistles were loud. We eventually got some sleep once we became accustomed to the noise. The directions on the campground website are great and made getting to the campground easy. We might stay here again due to its location. We camped at The Campus RV Park in a Motorhome.Undo

This is a very nice park in Independence within walking distance to the old Truman district. Lots to see and do. Good Wi-Fi, no cable, but there are lots of local stations. Very nice staff. It is not fancy, but there is not much around. Lots of places to run the dog as well. We will definitely stay there again. We camped at The Campus RV Park in a Travel Trailer.Undo

Nice park. Kind of out of the way if you're traveling the Interstate, but close to Truman Library. Good Wi-Fi and TV. We camped at The Campus RV Park in a Motorhome.Undo

Our time here was okay. It is small, no frills, but clean. Nice that campground was close to KC attractions and family. The only thing not great about it was the trains. It is about one block from Amtrak train station and all night and day trains blow their horns. I had to wear earplugs at night. Staff was friendly. Laundry room only had 3 washers and 2 dryers so had to wait to use them sometimes. They cost $1 per load. We had a level concrete pad for our 36 foot RV. We put the tow dolly in front of unit. Place is clean. Spots on concrete and level. No cable but you get several stations over the air on antenna. They just installed new Wi-Fi system which works at least as far as spot 22. We camped at The Campus RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.Undo

The rate is a weekly rate per day. The pros are: it is close to the Truman Center and to KC. Nice concrete level sites. Cons. No cable TV as advertised on web site. Wi-Fi is spotty at best. Trains come by about every 20 minutes day and night. We camped at The Campus RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.Undo
Date of Stay: July, 2012 - $28.00
We have stayed at this park before and always liked it. However, we were very disappointed this time. There was a sign in the office that they no longer had cable available, but they made no adjustment in the price. We could not get Wi-Fi connection either. I think that varies with how close you are to the office. The trains were very noisy and seemed to come more than once an hour all night long. The location is great, but we probably will try to find another park in the KC area next time. We camped at The Campus RV Park in a Travel Trailer.Undo

We're an Australian family of 2 parents and 4 kids, RVing for the first time. We spent 2 nights at the Campus RV park in a 28' class C. The major pluses: Short walk to central Independence, and hourly buses from there to Kansas City (route 24); every thing worked well, and there were no hassles. The major minuses: The general feel was quite austere, with most sites being reverse in, in close side-by-side proximity; shower stalls difficult to attain privacy as curtains often blowing around; toilet/shower building a little basic, but not dirty as such. Overall, quite bleak and basic; but its walking proximity to attractions and public transit meant that we did not spend much time in the RV park anyway. Given the inexpensive price, we would stay again if we were needing a site in the Kansas City area. We camped at The Campus RV Park in a Motorhome.Undo

Park is OK but nothing special. Voltage was good, but water pressure fluctuated. It was hot and dry which is not their fault but they do not water any of the grass at the RV sites. It is close to all the Truman attractions which was the reason we were here for a week. We would probably look elsewhere if back in the area. We camped at The Campus RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.Undo
