Stayed two nights in a motor home. Clean laundry room, clean park however the train noise was very loud and often through out the night. We camped at The Campus RV Park in a Motorhome.

Nice park with open space for the kids to play. Lacked a playground and some other amenities at 30/night but would stay here again if in area. We camped at The Campus RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Stayed here overnight, staff nice. Next to city park with lots of grass. Showers and restroom are older cinder block, but are clean. Close to Truman library facility. Quiet at night, overall nice. Sites are a little close together. We camped at The Campus RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

The park is very convenient to Truman House, some museums, historical home, all in walking distance. Lots of sidewalks to walk our dog. They have a dog park, but it is tiny, and the grass was not cut. Easy to back in. There was standing water at our camp site, but we did have a big rain storm prior to us arriving. Be SURE to follow the website driving instructions. GPS will send you a more direct route, but the roads are very tiny and narrow. We camped at The Campus RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

There is nothing fancy about this park, but it is easy to navigate and there is a lot of green space. From almost any spot you are able to look out your front window and see green space. Paved sites with grass in between. We were lucky to have a spot that provided a nice view out of the front window and a great view of a park-like setting out of our side window. My husband was bothered by the trains that rolled through during the night (sounding whistles), but I did not hear them (if windows were open, it might have been bad). The restrooms were very cheaply constructed - rather embarrassing - but I don't use them anyway. Nice place to stay (if you don't need to use the restrooms) to visit the very close by attractions. We would stay here again. We camped at The Campus RV Park in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Get the Independence, MO guide book - much to do around here. We like bike riding. The Little Blue Trace River trails is very nice - crushed gravel - little paving, but runs along the Little Blue Trace River the whole route and very scenic. Pioneer Trails and RR and the President Truman home and related attractions. You can go into Kansas City, but there is enough to do around here if you are only here for a couple of nights.

This place is what you need for an overnight stop. We got in late and left early. Not sure how great it would be for an extended stay. Friendly owners. They waited for us when we were delayed by a storm and didn't arrive until an hour after they were supposed to close. Sites are essentially along the side of a road. We camped at The Campus RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

Small park, mature trees, concrete, level sites, full hookups with good water pressure and electrical service. Our site was spacious and an easy back-in. Many long termers here, but quiet and nice. Train noise was not a problem for us. No cable. Wifi available at office and laundry room but not at Site 6 (no OTA television at site 6 either). Laundry had 3 washers and 3 dryers, most are large and only cost $1. We did not use the bathrooms/showers. Easy walk to the Truman home & downtown Independence; short drive to the Truman Library and the Morman Temple. We camped at The Campus RV Park in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Kansas City is clean, walkable and affordable to tour. FREE, ultra-modern, ultra-clean, street railcar from FREE parking in River Market District (stops in the Power & Light and the Crossroads Arts Districts) down to Union Station (Science Museum, impressive WWI War Memorial). A skywalk connects Union Station to the Crown Center (Hallmark Museum, LegoLand, Crayola City and other kid-pleasers).

An old park with a strange layout. Only three pull through sites. Many long term occupants. The WiFi was very poor at our site. No cable but lots of OTA channels. The showers and rest rooms are very old and "rustic" but clean. The concrete pad was very level. The main reason to stay here is to visit the Truman Library. We camped at The Campus RV Park in a Motorhome.

The positives: Concrete level pad, full hook ups, good TV reception, site was spacious and easy to back in. The negatives: wifi was so weak it was unusable, restroom and shower was very old and barely acceptable. We camped at The Campus RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

We stayed at this campground for several weeks to see family that lives close by. No discount for extended stay. No amenities. Location is convenient for us. It is basically quiet here as the trains are not an issue for us. The facilities are well worn - 3 washers and dryers often in need of repair - not very clean laundry room. Concrete pad is level. It would be nice if the grass could be mowed more frequently. The staff was incredibly kind and helpful. We camped at The Campus RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

The pull through we stayed in was so level we did not have to unhitch. The pull through sites are close together, but the back-in sites have more room. The staff was very helpful. The park is near railroad tracks as others have mentioned, although we did not hear them inside with the rooftop fan running. The bathrooms and showers are clean but dated. We would definitely stay here again if we are in the area. We camped at The Campus RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

Date of Stay: November, 2016 - $25.00
Overall Rating:

We stayed for one week in Nov 2016. Our site was easy to back into and quite level. The sewer hookups are all the way at the back of the site so our hoses from the second bathroom barely reached. The nearby trains were the only drawback, but we got used to the noise and during the night we kept the fans running so didn't hear them very much. The guy at the front office was extremely nice and helpful.

Follow the directions on their site to get here, not a GPS. The directions bring you through downtown, but they recommend the widest roads and easiest to maneuver. You can only turn into the park entrance easily if coming from the east. I would stay here again. We camped at The Campus RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Pro: walking distance to almost everything, strong wifi, friendly staff. Sites are close together but not on top of each other. Con: most sites are back ins surrounded by trees, nice enough but not satellite friendly and no cable tv. Train noise consistently. We camped at The Campus RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Walk to historic downtown, several historic homes including Truman house. We drove to the Truman Library, but it's walkable if you're looking to stretch your legs. Good eats in town. Given the location, we would stay here again.

Many long termers here, but quiet and nice. We had a one of four pull-thru's. Air tv was very good, sign said they recently removed cable. Internet was spotty. Baths and showers clean, but dated. Good enough for my use and $29. Will stay here again, for sure! We camped at The Campus RV Park in a Motorhome.

The main downside to this campground is the trains that run every 20-30 minutes all day and all night. The tracks are right next to the campground. Each train blows its whistle 15-20 times as it crosses every street nearby. Wifi is spotty. Site #5 only gets it if you sit in the drivers seat and put your laptop on the dash. Other than that, it is just fine. Laundry only has 3 washers and 3 dryers but they are large and only cost $1. We would probably not stay here again, just because of the trains.
