Well, what can I say. It's a KOA and they charge a lot no matter what. However, it did serve it's purpose as a place to rest after several long days of driving, do our laundry, and get into the chrome shop nearby first thing Monday morning. We were able to access a pull-through with our big rig and Jeep tow. The laundry room was clean. The sites were muddy, but that wasn't their fault. There are far too many strangely placed poles and signs for maneuvering a big rig, but we made it! The biggest complaint was our site was heavily littered with dog poo from previous "guests" who obviously could care less about considerate dog ownership. We have three dogs, and are fastidious about cleaning up after them immediately, but we had to watch our step in our campsite. Close to a truck stop, but we didn't find it a problem as far as noise. The kind of funny thing about our relatively early Sunday morning arrival (11:30 a.m.) was the admonition from the park that we better try to get there before noon because the CIRCUS was in town, and the entire frontage road in front of the park would be clogged with traffic before and after the twice daily showtimes. Boy was it ever! We made it into the park before the traffic jam began. If you have a big rig with a long wheel base, watch out for the concrete planters in the middle of the entrance road. Turning in from a narrow frontage road, we had to go on the wrong side of the RV park entrance road to make it into the park unscathed. No problem, and the office said it happens frequently. Laundry room was clean with modern equipment, and the office is well stocked with quarters. Several truck stops, repair places, and a cool chrome shop nearby. Baskin Robbins in downtown Joplin, 4 exits back on the freeway, so life was good! We camped at Joplin KOA in a Motorhome.
Very sobering to drive around the wide swath downtown where the tornado hit in 2011. There are still many, many empty lots. Lots of new building going on though, but it was a strange feeling to know what devastation had occurred there.

Just off I-44. Easy access. Pool was closed and not accessible; maybe for the season. Highway traffic noise was apparent due to location. Large tree covered sites that were level and easy to maneuver. The host was friendlyand helpful. Would definitely stay again while passing through. We camped at Joplin KOA in a Fifth Wheel.Undo

Like most KOAs, it is more expensive than it should be. The park is located right of off I-44, but the at the back of the park where we were, highway noise was not noticeable. There is a truck sales, service and transportation company next door. This borders one side of the park, but is not a noisy operation. There is, however, a 24 hour truck stop on the other side of the KOA that does generate a lot of noise. The roads and sites are well graveled and level. There are a number of really long sites for those with big rigs. We were escorted to our site. The office sells 12” thin crust pizzas, freshly baked and will deliver to your site, which can be convenient after a long day on the road. They were pretty good. There are a couple of ponds in the park that are home to several flocks of ducks. You can get duck and turtle food from the office, to feed to the residents of the ponds. There is a right-of-way for a natural gas pipeline, that makes for a good dog walk. There are several excellent truck stops near the RV park. Shopping and restaurants are plentiful a couple exits down the highway. We would stay here again. The pool was closed for season. We camped at Joplin KOA in a Fifth Wheel.Undo

Well laid out campground with nice hookup posts (power, cable). Clean level sites, easy navigation on the gravel roads. Staff waited past closing to check us in and escort us to the site. Our site had trees/shade. Easy access off of I-44 but didn't hear any road noise. We camped at Joplin KOA in a Fifth Wheel.Undo

This campground is an easy on and off to the interstate. We were placed in the back part of the park near the long term campers. This campground is OK for a one night stay but I plan to look at others in the area. This campground seems a little run down with high grass/weeds at the sites. This park that confirms my opinion that KOAs, are, on the whole, not worth the money paid to stay there. We arrived on a day when it had snowed days before and thawed, snowed, and thawed, and snowed. It was a muddy mess, slippery, and scary to walk around in. We were going to be in the area several days but left the next morning to find better accommodations. We would not stay here again. Sites are fairly level gravel, bathrooms and laundry were clean. However, the park is close to the interstate so there is always traffic noise, which may be a problem for some, depending on which site you are in. Wi-Fi worked okay during the day, but toward evening it bogged down and became unusable. We have a camper van so we reserved water/electric only site. After checking in we asked the owner where the dump station was. He said he didn't have one since it was damaged by a MH; KOA wanted him to repair it but he was refusing. We asked for a discount based on no dump station, but he refused, saying the price he gave us was the lowest he'd give. We have not had positive experiences over the years at KOAs and this one was disappointing. We would not stay here again. We camped at Joplin KOA in a Motorhome.Undo

We stayed here to be near my wife's mother while she was in the final days of her life. We didn't know how long we would need to stay, and the staff at KOA could not have been more understanding and helpful. The campground is clean, and neat, and very easy to get to from I-44. We loved this park! The staff was helpful. Even though the park is next to a busy truck stop, the park is quiet. The spaces were large in comparison to other parks. We will definitely stop here on all of our cross country treks. We camped at Joplin KOA in a Travel Trailer.Undo

Great location for overnight stop. Wi-Fi, cable TV, Verizon card good. Long spots, fuel spots close. Easy on and off Hwy. Water collected after heavy rain between sites. We camped at Joplin KOA in a Fifth Wheel.Undo

A good KOA which we have visited several times. Clean, well-laid out, well-managed. Clean bathrooms. Friendly staff. Easy-in and easy-out for any size rig. The east side of the park, which we prefer, has many mature trees, but they do not hinder maneuverability and they add atmosphere. Sites on the west side of the park have no trees and are close enough to a truck stop to hear the somewhat muted rumble of trucks 24 hours a day, even though a privacy fence provides a barricade. We recommend this campground. We camped at Joplin KOA in a Fifth Wheel.Undo

Arrived late - after registration but an envelope with our name on it was clearly left on the office door with everything we needed inside including Wi-Fi pass codes. Sites were long enough for our coach (+towing), didn't even have to unhook. It was a gravel park but well-maintained. Laundry area was clean, nothing fancy but clean and served its purpose. Pool was warm and clean. Kids liked the playground; but they loved the fishing pond. Kids got up extra early the next morning to feed the ducks on the pond. Very easy in-easy out right off I-44. Petro and Pilot truck stops right across street to fuel plus a few restaurants, including Subway which was convenient to pick up some healthy subs to go for later on down the road. Overall a good experience. Staff very friendly and helpful. If you are passing through, don't hesitate to stay here. We camped at Joplin KOA in a Motorhome.Undo

The FHU section is far enough away from the road to not hear a thing. The owners are very nice. The sites are good size and angled with trees. We camped at Joplin KOA in a Travel Trailer.Undo
Date of Stay: November, 2011 - $33.00
We stayed here for one weekday night in early November. We had a a FHU, pull-through site with cable TV (40 channels). As has been happening to us a lot lately, we were unable to connect to the Wi-Fi in the evening but were able to do so the next morning. It might be that folks are hopping on the internet earlier as it gets dark earlier. It is too bad that this park got some bad reviews during the summer when the park was primarily used by people staying at the park because of the terrible tornado Joplin experienced earlier in the year. Many sites are in the trees but there are some that are satellite friendly. Most sites are pull-through and there are a variety of hook-up combinations (varying amperage, cable or not, W&E only, etc.). The park could use more laundry and bath facilities for 100 sites. The park is family oriented with a pool, a playground, a duck and fishing pond, and a basketball court. Good park for an overnight or a few days to relax or tour the area. Yes, you can hear the interstate traffic but it is not as close or bad as at some parks. We camped at Joplin KOA in a Motorhome.Undo
