We prefer state parks and this one did not disappoint. The sites are level and spread out so you are not on top of your neighbor. The weekend we stayed was spent mostly in the camper because of weather. The park itself has a small store. There is only one main road into the campground and as far as MO State Parks go there are not a lot of sites, so they book quickly. We camped at Onondaga Cave State Park in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

There are some outfitters in the area for floats. We did not use any.

However, we did do the cave tour and was interesting. We had our 3 year old and the amount of time on the tour was perfect.

We stayed at the state park during our trek southwest for the winter. This state park did not disappoint! We loved our spot in the end loop, very private. Electrical and water at the site (except during winter). However, the wi-fi did not work. No cell/internet signal available and no over the air channels on the TV. The main showerhouse was ok (we use our RV bathroom anyway). Laundry worked well ($2 wash/$2 dry). Campground access is passed the visitor centre on the right. We camped at Onondaga Cave State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

We camped here for two nights. We arrived on a Tuesday and there were many "reservable" sites available. We chose a shady site near the showers. The campground itself was quiet and well maintained. We had a large, concrete pad with electric and water hook-ups, a picnic table and fire ring. Staff was friendly and helpful. There was no sewer hook-up, but there was a dump site available. Wi-fi was spotty, at best, and there was no T-Mobile signal to speak of. We camped at Onondaga Cave State Park in a Motorhome.

The cave tour at the visitor's center is fun, informative and beautiful. We also really enjoyed hiking the trails with our dogs.

Overall Rating:

This campground is reasonably priced with a beautiful setting. Easy access in the campground with our larger sized 40'+ BigRig RV however access road to the park from the highway has some low branches that caused some concern and caused us to drive the center at several spots. Asphalt campground roads and level concrete pads that are relatively easy to back into. No AT&T or Verizon cell service for several miles. Wouldn't have been a problem but the advertised WiFi wasn't working during our stay. Nor was it fixed when we were told it would be. Not much chance of satellite signal nor could we pickup any over-the-air channels. I enjoy nature as much as the next person but a stay of more than one night completely disconnected from the world was too much. Unimpressed by the severely dated restrooms and showers - another big issue with no sewer in the campground. Bottom line : beautiful setting with no communications with the outside world ; If you enjoy that then this campground is a 10. I would not return under the same circumstances. MAYBE for a night if their Internet was working. We camped at Onondaga Cave State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

Follow directions on website / emailed reservation confirmation and DO NOT pass the visitors center / campground. Road quickly deteriorates over the Meremac River turning into a nearly single-lane unpaved mountain-style road unsuitable for an RV.

Overall Rating:

Many of the campsites at Onondaga SP have both water and 50 amp electric hookups. There is also a section of basic sites without hookups for tent campers. Both of the caves at this park are worth visiting. The park roads are blacktop and the campsites are concrete and WiFi is available at the campsites. Each site has a fire ring, picnic table, and lantern post. There is a playground and the Meramec River is close to the campground. This is an excellent campground for the family. We camped at Onondaga Cave State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

We stayed here one night. The sites are very nice, paved, and level with decent spacing. Shower house looked nice, but we didn't use it. Good if you don't need Wi-Fi. Leasburg is the closet town for groceries. We enjoyed touring Onadaga Cave and visiting the learning center/gift shop. Meramec River offers fun on the water. I would say this is nice place for low key family fun. We camped at Onondaga Cave State Park in a Travel Trailer.

Overall Rating:

This is a clean and well kept campground. The campground road is blacktop and the RV sites are concrete and level. A majority of the campsites have both water and electric with 50 amp service. The dump station was very clean also. A real plus for this state park is that it has Wi-Fi available at each site which was nice because our cell phones couldn’t get a signal at the park. The spacing between the sites was OK. Each site has a fire ring, picnic table, and lantern post. All sites at the park at reservable through the state park’s website. The park has some nice hiking trails, and the Meramec River is a within walking distance. There is a small playground at the front of the campground that is in full sun. The bathrooms and shower houses were clean but looking a bit dated. The park sells ice and firewood. Rangers patrol the campground regularly. I highly recommend taking a tour of both the Onondaga Cave and the Cathedral Cave, both are located in the park. Be warned though, the Cathedral Cave tour requires you to hike ½ mile through the woods to get to it. We camped at Onondaga Cave State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Upon first entering the park we immediately noticed how clean and well kept it was. The sites are each large and shady. The hosts saw us pulling in and came over to meet us; they were so friendly, even telling us which sites were open. The Meremac River is within walking distance, where you can go on float trips, or simply sit and cool off in the water. There were several very nice hiking trails. There weren't very many showers, and the shower house was just so-so. We chose to shower in our camper for that reason. Before leaving we toured Onondaga Cave, which is highly recommended, as well. We enjoyed our stay, and have put this park on our list of favorites. We will definitely go back. We camped at Onondaga Cave State Park in a Travel Trailer.

This was a very nice park to stay in. It is a beautiful area. They have different trails you can walk, a river nearby to go fishing. They have a cave tour you can take. The cave tour is about four hours long. The camphost is very nice. We will plan to come back. We camped at Onondaga Cave State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

This is one of our favorite campgrounds. Concrete pads, paved roads, fire pits, pole for lantern or trash, roomy sites. Park Rangers are present for security, but not intrusive. Hosts are very nice. Meramec River is close by for fishing of swimming. You can also tour Onondaga Cave. There is an amphitheater and trails. We camped at Onondaga Cave State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

We stayed here in a Travel Trailer. Most sites are shaded and all are level, paved and easy to access. Restrooms were clean...there are newer handicap accessable shower houses and restrooms. The Cave is a must see for everyone. Playground equipment is newer and well kept...it is in the direct sun so during the summer use early in the morning or after sunset.
