Huge place, lots of space. An amazing adventure for our dogs, as there is plenty of opportunity for off-leash play. There is a beach and two other water access points for the dogs. Staff very helpful--they spent an afternoon troubleshooting my sister and brother-in-laws rig that had broken down. They also sponsor float trips, but we did not do any, so I can't comment on them. Only downside was the ticks. That's probably true any grassy place in Missouri. Be sure to use DEET on your skin and Permethrin on your clothes and also protect your dogs. Bring a swimsuit to the shut-ins and hike to the lower pool--magical. We'll stay there again if we're ever in SE Missouri. We camped at Twin Rivers Landing in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

Visit Johnson's Shut-Ins and the PILOT KNOB battlefield. (a few miles' drive) Also Elephant Rocks, especially if you like geology. Next to the day of the eclipse, the best day of our stay was our visit there. If it's hot, take your lawn chair to the beach and sit in the water. And bring your dog's frisbee and "chuck-it".

Campground isn't right on highway which was great. You drive down a gravel road and are met by nature. Lots of trees and big sites. River is right there, so peaceful. Everyone was very nice. My only complaint is they could put a bench in the shower and bigger curtain where you undress. Better not be modest. We camped at Twin Rivers Landing in a Tent.

Beautiful area! Summer weekends get crowded with a party atmosphere. They have canoe and raft rentals for floating. The "beach" area is a great place to hang out at once the floats trips have shoved off for the day, it's an easy walk as it's part of the campgrounds. Bathrooms seem to be keep as clean as possible for all the people that were there the weekend that we stayed. Watch for lower hanging branches if you have a larger RV or motorhome. Sites appeared to be mostly dirt or gravel. We camped at Twin Rivers Landing in a Motorhome.

A beautiful park! The park sits on the Black river, although RV sites are not on the river. Most RV sites are water and electric only, with one dump station available as you leave the park. Some of the sites are very difficult to get into if you have a big rig; watch those overhead branches! They do have a few pull through sites, but even some of those are better to back in and out of to avoid the many trees. This place gets busy in the summer, so you probably should call ahead. I've had some trouble with the electric boxes over the years; the place could use a few repairs. Free, abundant firewood most of the time. We camped at Twin Rivers Landing in a Fifth Wheel.
