An absolutely gorgeous campground with huge, widely separated sites. Lots of shade, and many of the asphalt pads are find for big rigs when toad is unhitched. The sites are very unlevel though, most sloping down significantly from the road. We were there in October and it was very quiet, but I would imagine it is very busy in the summer. Only a very few sites have a water view, and the lake it a good walk from the campground. All the sites have electric, and a few have sewer and water also. We had an electric only sites, but the dump station was close and convenient. We camped at Indian Creek COE in a Travel Trailer.

This is a beautiful COE park. We had site 110 which had an amazing view of the lake. Plenty of room for our 27 foot trailer and truck. Level and paved site. We were there during the week and there was only one other camper in our loop, but it was supposed to fill up for the weekend. There is a marina for boat rental with a convenience store. We had an electric only site which wasn't a problem. Quite a ways from the interstate but worth the drive. The bathrooms could have been cleaner. In 5 days only saw one person pressure washing. No liquid soap or dispenser to wash your hands in the bathroom. Literally thousands of gnats flying around (not the campground's fault) because of the standing water from the pressure washer. But all in all a great campground. Oh yes, the tick problem is bad this year. We camped at Indian Creek COE in a Travel Trailer.

As with all campgrounds pay attention to the site description. The campsites were spacious and sized accurately. Facilities were clean and well lit at night. Our site was next to the rest room (waited too long to schedule our trip) but no unpleasant orders were noticed. I run a long bed extended cab truck and 40ft fifth wheel. I found the end loop tight but adequate. The sites were configured so backing in was not a problem; even with the train we run. We camped at Indian Creek COE in a Fifth Wheel.

Close enough to Hannibal for day trips and of course has access to Mark Twain lake. Marinas have pleasure, fishing and pontoon boats available at reasonable prices.

Rate reflects us using our national parks senior pass. Beautiful campground but beware the ticks are bad this season. Be sure to put tick repellent on your pets and be vigilant at checking yourself, children and pets for ticks. Our site had a level paved pad. The Patio area was gravel with large grassy area to the back. We stayed on site 81 in the night hawk section which was a full hook up site and if I remember right it's 96' long!!! Plenty of room for our 40' fifth wheel with 6 slides and truck with lots of room to spare. Lots of trees and brush between sites. This particular site is in the west section that is non reservable (first come first served). Note that not all sites are full hook up. The east section is reservable and sites there are similar. Many trails to the lake nice beach and boat launch area. Had deer walking through our site almost daily and also had a couple owls. It's a Little bit of a drive to Monroe City but not bad. We had Great Verizon cell service also. Overall beautiful campground and price was great! Look forward to coming back next time through. We camped at Indian Creek COE in a Fifth Wheel.

This is a great park even though it's a ways off the interstate. The sites are nicely spaced and we had no problem backing into our fairly level site. The hiking trails were short but that was okay because there were plenty of roadways to walk along. We did not have satellite nor good phone reception but it turned out to not be too big of a deal. We camped here for 4 nights. We camped at Indian Creek COE in a Motorhome.

The park, overall, seemed very nice. We mainly stayed in our camping area and did a few trails, along with the beach. The trails were nice and the beach area has a very nice swimming area. It is restricted to those who are camping in the campgrounds, so that is nice. If you were in a travel trailer, you would probably give this park a nine or 10. However, being in a pop-up camper, we have to use the shower and bathroom facilities. The showers and bathrooms in our Campground area were horrible. Though they were cleaned once a day, that was not near enough to keep up with the uncleanliness. The cleaning they do in the bathroom and showers is cursory at best. The same Band-Aid was present in the shower stall that I used all four days we were there. My family had to use a 5 gallon portable bathroom bucket that I keep for emergencies while deer hunting. We felt fortunate to have that to use. The campground hosts were very friendly and helpful with providing directions to local attractions. The COE Visitor Center is excellent and should be a must-do if you camp at this park. We camped at Indian Creek COE in a Tent Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

Right near the beginning of the park, across the highway, you will see a small ranch house with piles of firewood. An older gentleman there sells firewood and also bags of ice. His prices seem to be very reasonable, especially for ice.

The price reflects a 50% Senior Pass discount on a full-hookup site, a ridiculously low amount to pay for a beautiful full-hookup site! This is another nice Corp of Engineer park. The only thing missing were views of the reservoir; only a few sites had distant views of the lake through the vegetation. Otherwise, you couldn't ask for anything nicer. The campground is a bit far from the major throughways to be a convenient overnight stop, but it is easy to find and the roads to the park are all good, paved roads. The campground is easy to navigate. There are two campground areas, the West Campground, that you come to first, and the East Campground. There is an entrance gate, but there was no attendant on duty when we arrived, so we found a non-reservable site, set up, and paid later. The West Campground sites (1 - 95) are all non-reservable, wonderful for those of us that like to travel more free-form. The East Campground (sites 96-175) is all reservable. Some sites are electric only, some also have water, and some are full hook-up sites. All have 50 amp service. Although there are water spigots located throughout the campground, if you have a dry camping site, the best place for filling a tank is at the dump station. They are all very well spaced; some have vegetation separating the sites. Our site was very level, but some are unlevel. We had weak Verizon signal at our site, but with a booster, could get voice and fast data. The signal varied considerably throughout the campgrounds. The gate attendant was very nice and extremely helpful. We would definitely come back and spend a week or so here. For $11 for full-hookup, it can't be beat. We camped at Indian Creek COE in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

It is quite a ways to shopping, so come well stocked. There is a marina just outside of the camping area with some basic supplies; they also have pontoon boats for rent. About 30 minutes away, Mark Twain Historic Site, within Mark Twain State Park, which has some great exhibits and his birth cabin, is well worth a visit.

Rate reflects senior discount. Very pretty park, remote with lots of trees and grassy areas. Large campground, 2 different areas, east and west, with 2 loops in each one. Camp sites are generously spaced and allow for privacy. Some sites are terraced with step downs to patio area. Table, fire ring and lantern pole in most. Electric was steady at 124 per leg, water pressure was 70psi. Sites vary as to whether there is electric only, or full hook up. There are some community spigots placed around. Did not use the bathhouses here, but saw cleaning crew there each day and staff checking them throughout the day. Fairly level for walking and biking. Due to high water in the lake, the beach and walking trails were closed during our visit. Plenty of deer wandering around the campground and bird watching is good. Bring your supplies, a good 15 mile drive to nearest grocery store, nearest WM is in Hannibal. There is a small marina here with a little store and snack bar. Staff on the park was visible and friendly. Gate house hours are erratic, but saw camp hosts putting out reserved tags occasionally. Park stayed quiet even over a busy weekend. Drive to the Dam Visitors Center, worth the trip, nice displays and great views of the lake and spillway. Nice memorial to Vietnam Veterans. We would stay here again. We camped at Indian Creek COE in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Hannibal worth visiting, visit the Visitors Center at the dam. Go to the Mark Twain SP across the lake and visit the Mark Twain memorial. Great museum. A short drive down the road will bring you to Florida, the original site of Mark Twain's birthplace. There is a small winery there. There is an old covered bridge in west of Paris MO which is great to visit.

The rate reflects our senior discount. Very pretty campground that is better suited to smaller rigs. We had to select from only three available sites for our 35' rig and we could only fit in one due to our length and three slides. The site, #5, was very sloped and we had to unhook our truck for just overnight to get our rig even close to level. We saw very few level sites in the entire campground. It's a very popular place and was almost full even though it was well after Labor Day. Reservations would probably be very helpful. The campground is located about 14 miles off the main highway but as is typical of most COE campgrounds it was worth the drive. We camped at Indian Creek COE in a Fifth Wheel.

This is a very nice facility (as most COE parks are), and for $9.00 per night with a senior pass discount it is one of the best values around. All roads and sites are paved. Most sites will require leveling. It is approximately 12-13 miles south of Monroe City, but worth the drive. We camped at Indian Creek COE in a Motorhome.

This was our first time in a COE campground and we are impressed! Our site is >100 ft long and totally private. The rate shown reflects the federal senior pass discount. I know from the reservation screens that there will be lots of people here on the weekend, but at mid-week we are virtually alone. We stayed on site 122 which would be great for families; very close to the playground and bathrooms. The only complaint was that we couldn't get quite level. The sites and roads are paved and are heavily wooded; we couldn't get a TV satellite lock at ours. Verizon cell service is adequate and we were able to use our air card to get online even though the speeds were slow. We would come back in a heartbeat. We camped at Indian Creek COE in a Motorhome.

Very nice COE park about 28 miles from Hannibal, MO. Very spacious full hook up sites available with 50 amp service. They have sites that you can reserve in advance, or quite a few sites that are available on a first come first served basis. We stayed in a reserved site and as it was the week before Labor Day weekend, it was almost totally empty and very quiet. The rate shown reflects the Golden Age Passport senior rate. We would definitely stay here again. We camped at Indian Creek COE in a Fifth Wheel.

Indian Creek Recreation Area For those who frequent Corps of Engineer campgrounds, you know how nice they are. Indian Creek meet all of the accepted standards. The areas and sites are well maintained. The facilities are excellent. The registration personnel are friendly and informative. This facility is excellent for those who like a lake environment, quiet, and beautiful views. Although the quiet is lacking from Friday afternoon until Sunday evening. I was in spot 32 and had that area to myself during the week. The campground and the access road are great for leisure or hard bicycle riding. I wish I had such a campground to stay at on all of my stops. We camped at Indian Creek COE in a Travel Trailer.

I stayed at this campground while attending a geocaching event. Because it was very early in the season, the water was not on to the individual sites, but the bathrooms/showers were available. They were very clean and had plenty of hot water. The were electric hookups available. The staff at the campground was better than could ever be expected. Security was great, and everyone was very friendly and helpful. The sites were spacious, with plenty of room between sites for privacy. The entire area was clean. It was very clear that the management took great pride in the park. I am looking forward to a return trip soon. We camped at Indian Creek COE in a Tent Trailer.

All the previous reviews are spot-on! This is a very nice campground. The hosts and park rangers were very friendly and helpful. Our spot was big, nice gravel area around fire ring and picnic table. We did a lot of hiking with our dog. Only bad thing was the ticks. They were small and we were covered with them. Fishing was great. We would definitely go back again. We had a reservation, but early in the year it isn't necessary. There are non-reservable spots and the spring the campground is not full. We camped at Indian Creek COE in a Fifth Wheel.
