This campground was quiet and sites were well spaced. Sites seemed to all be very level in the LBLS section. Utilities worked well. Several bathhouse are located in the campground. The one next to our site was older but in working order and clean. Various employees patrolled the area and the entire campground is gated. There are several hiking trails through the sections. There didn't seem to be any lake access sites. Some smaller stores are located on Route "J" but you'll have to go to Hannibal for bigger stores. See the visitor center near the dam, Florida and Hannibal, and Monroe City. We camped at Ray Behrens COE in a Motorhome.

We stayed at site 114. I slopes a little from front to back but nothing our leveling system couldn't handle. Lots of space between sites, numerous shower & restroom buildings. We camped at Ray Behrens COE in a Fifth Wheel.

Great campground on Mark Twain Lake. Early in the season, so a new portion was closed, but we had electric and a view of the lake. Very quiet and clean. Would definitely return. We camped at Ray Behrens COE in a Travel Trailer.

Very nice COE campground. Gate attendants were very helpful. Campground has a mix of full HU and electric only sites. A bit out of the way but worth the drive! We camped at Ray Behrens COE in a Travel Trailer.

Beautiful park with lots of spaces. I was in the Little Blue Stem campground area, but there are many others along Mark Twain Lake. Nice site, shaded, easy to find thanks to the map I was given at the gate when I checked in. Because there weren't many campers around in my loop, I had no one in sight. Spaces are large and open anyhow, not right next to each other. Very pleasant. We camped at Ray Behrens COE in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Stop at the visitor's center. Lots to see and interesting. Don't use the park's address as the GPS as it is the Project Office, not the campground. Luckily at the visitor's center, the ranger gave me a map of where to find Ray Behren's campground.

Another great COE campground! Clean, well maintained, nicely spaced sites, not too far from Hannibal, MO. Beautiful lake and countryside. Very out of the way and quiet. Our site was open to the south so we were able to get satellite reception. We camped at Ray Behrens COE in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Monroe City is the closest good size town with most amenities and antique shops in the old town part. Hannibal is the attraction with Mark Twain locations, the Mississippi and lots of shops plus all the other amenities you'd find in a small city.

Half price with federal Senior Pass. This one of several large COE campgrounds around Mark Twain Lake. You can make reservations. I pre-registered on the internet. The people at the check-in booth had all my information and my site assignment immediately. It could hardly have gone quicker or easier. It was after Labor Day, so they were starting to close down some of the camping loops. There are both shady and sunny sites. Mine was shady. Clean restrooms and showers. I had electric. Water was available at the next camp site. I don't know if they have sewer hookups. The slopes to the Mark Twain Lake are steep. I didn't see any beaches. We camped at Ray Behrens COE in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

The Mark Twain birthplace is in a Missouri state park in Florida, Missouri, about 10 miles away. Admission is free. They have the cabin in which he was born plus some of his original manuscripts. There seems to be lots of fishing in the lake.

This is a beautiful park with concrete pads, picnic tables, lantern posts, and many spacious sites. Having full hook up sites for $24 is a great value. With an America the Beautiful senior pass, it is only $12. My only complaint is that some of the sites are quite slanted, and some are surrounded by trees that could interfere with slide-outs, satellite reception, or hit the tops of higher units. You need to pick your site with care, if you have a large unit. The staff is very friendly and helpful, and there are trails, some going down to the lake. There is also a marina. It is a great campground. We camped at Ray Behrens COE in a Fifth Wheel.

There is a little store near the campground that has reasonable prices, but you need a drive a ways to get to any town.

Rate reflect Golden Age card (50% off). Very pretty park on the Mark Twain Lake. Good staff presence, gate attendants friendly and helpful. Electric was steady, water 85psi, steady. Park was clean enough, however our firepit was full of ash and trash, we had to clean it out to use it. Some sites are full hook up, others are electric only. Most sites are level enough, however there are a few that have an incline. The trails were closed when we were here due to high water in the lake, but the boat launch was open. There is a marina on the park with a café and little store. Park has dumpsters in the camping loops, convenient, not a long way off. We did not use the bathhouse or restrooms. Sites are asphalt, however the patio area is rock. Its small, but not as easy to walk on as gravel. Sites have a large picnic table, a lantern pole and fire ring with grate.Nearest Walmart is about 35 miles away, but there is a local store with bread/milk, etc. We would stay here again when in the area. We camped at Ray Behrens COE in a Motorhome.

Very nice COE park on the Mark Twain Lake. The camping loops are about a mile or more from the gate. Gate attendants friendly and helpful. Park was clean. The roads were paved and the long pads were asphalt and a little narrow, but there is a lot of space between sites and each has a fire ring, picnic table, and lantern post. Most sites are back-in. Lots of mature trees. No sites are on or near the lake, so no view to speak of. We had a problem with our cell and internet service-NONE-even though there are cell towers in vicinity. However we discovered that area of MO is in a "Dead Zone" according to the helpful people at the Walmart in Hannibal. We camped at Ray Behrens COE in a Motorhome.

This is a beautiful area on the Mark Twain lake and, specifically, the US Corps of Engineers Recreation Area --- located about 30 minutes southwest of Hannibal, MO. There were really nice features about camping here, e.g the roads were paved and the pads were paved but, unfortunately, very narrow, which made it difficult to maneuver. Our site, # 129 was surrounded by trees making it scenic but impossible to open both our slideout and our awning. Not all the sites had that level of closeness. And not all sites are level, so pick with care. The toilet and shower house were separate and not very close together. These building and some of the other buildings in the area were in need of some paint and/or repair, but for that price, I look at it as a small issue. There are not many extras available there, but there is a marina onsite where one can rent boats, eat, fish, etc. We camped at Ray Behrens COE in a Travel Trailer.

$9 price reflects Senior National Park Pass. We camped in Site 145 in Cedar Ridge Loop, 50-amp electric; as the full-hookup sites were already taken. 145 is a long (81') site with lots of room and privacy (trees) on both sides; also across from the restroom/showers. Sites are paved, with gravel for picnic table and fire ring. Many sites, ours included, have quite a slope from front to back! Be sure to bring blocks to back up on. This campground was clean, grass was mowed; restrooms just OK - hot water in the shower. It was quiet during the week. We would definitely stay there again if in the area. We camped at Ray Behrens COE in a Fifth Wheel.

Very nice, big spots, some with full hookups. Many are fairly level and paved. Well run campground. Downside is poor cellular coverage, so no 3G that we could get. Several TV channels available. Many boaters say here as the boat ramps and marina are close. No swimming in nearby area and campground is not on lake. We will come back again. We camped at Ray Behrens COE in a Travel Trailer.

This is one of three COE campgrounds on Mark Twain Lake. The sites have great spacing between them and each has a fire ring, picnic table, and lantern post. The sites are paved and most are long. The first and second loop have a few full hookup sites. The third loop offers electric only sites. While the sites are fairly level side to side, there are a few that have quite a bit of slope front to back. The campground is clean and well maintained. I was in site 69 and able to get most of the major networks over the air by pointing my antenna to the northeast. The only thing I didn’t like about the campground was all of the sites require you to back in on the passenger side. A heads up for those using Blue Totes, the dump station is by the registration office and is a rather long distance from the camping loops. There is also a marina close to the campground. My nightly rate reflects a 50% seniors discount. We camped at Ray Behrens COE in a Fifth Wheel.
