This is a very wonderful family based park. It offers 3 beautiful lakes that all have nice sized fish in them. They also have swings and a swimming pool that is very well maintained. The park is constantly being upgraded by the owner who has done a wonderful job of upgrading and cleaning the park up. The staff are all friendly and very quick to assist with needs and they quickly respond to any issues that arise. Couldn't ask for a better or safer place to have my family. Very peaceful place to be! We camped at Cherokee Lakes Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

This appears to strictly be a family-oriented campground. The host that greeted us was very friendly, along with her husband. However, she was a heavy smoker. You could smell smokers all over this camp. We were situated in a site right across form the picnic pavilion. Regretfully, an extended family of stereotypical hillbillies had taken over the pavilion and were loud and playing loud music. Bathrooms were primitive and could really use a facelift. However, they were relatively clean for the shape they were in. Most folks here appeared to be camped for most of the summer. Lots of kids. We will be glad to leave and not come back again. Picked this place out based upon reviews; but would not stay here again. We camped at Cherokee Lakes Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Overall Rating:

We stayed here a few nights while attending a festival in nearby St Charles. The staff is excellent and they are actively trying to fix this place up. That said, the sites are pretty close together, not really our cup of tea, but there was nothing else in the area for a reasonable price.

We did have shade, but a large part of the park is not shaded. Our site was very level, probably the levelest I've seen in a long time. Power was fine and consistent. Water pressure was adequate. New power poles and water hookups have been installed. There are a lot of seasonal residents here, but they are friendly and welcoming. There is a small pool that was in constant use and a pavilion for barbecuing with grills. Verizon signal was very weak for data and voice calls, but we made do. We did not use the campground WiFi. Also did not use the restrooms and showers.

Our site did not have a picnic table which we missed greatly. However, it looked like they were working to get tables at all sites. Some things take time. Interior roads were gravel and well maintained. The entrance is a mess, with a hard to spot sign and a poor road. Does not give a good first impression. Once in the park though, it is fine. We camped at Cherokee Lakes Campground in a Motorhome.

We chose this park because we were having work done on a jeep in O'Fallon. We are in a gravel lot -- packed in-- 50 AMP sewer and water. The "lakes" are man made. Smell of sewage from somewhere. No picnic tables or fire pits. Many residents that have made this home. OK for a night or two, if you have something in the area. We camped at Cherokee Lakes Campground in a Motorhome.

Roads back in to the site were tight. Watch trees. Site was enough for RV but you would have to disconnect your towed vehicle. Happy Travels.

This park has new owners who are trying to fix the place up but it still has a ways to go. Most of the campers appear long term. The people I interacted with were all friendly. Utilities worked good and many OTA tv channels are available. It was fairly quiet although close to a highway. The weather was cold and grey so I didn't venture around and can't comment about the bathrooms or recreational activities. We camped at Cherokee Lakes Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Will stay here again when I get back to area. Price reflects monthly rate. We camped at Cherokee Lakes Campground in a Motorhome.

Was excited to come based on the good reviews. Glad this place has 2 access roads because we passed up the actual entrance. It actually worked to our advantage when I called the park saying we were here. It just happened we were right down from the 50 amp site he assigned us, so we were able to pull right in. At first sight we weren't that impressed. We were next to an out building that had a couple equipment trailers parked out front and could barely see one of the lakes on the property. But then we met the new owner who came by to make sure we were ok, collect our site fee and see if we had any questions or needed anything. He explained that he was only 6 months into his ownership and told us of his plans to "polish this little diamond of a place". After set up we took the dog for a walk about the place. It's really very nice. The lakes are nice and we were told by a couple of people that the fishing is pretty good. There are paddle boats for rent by the hour. The pool wasn't open and was being prepped for renovation. The laundry rooms were clean but we didn't need to use them. The ladies restroom was also clean when I poked my head in, but again, I didn't use them. This place is convenient to O'Fallon and the surrounding areas. I thought the $30 site fee was a little high when the pool wasn't open, but then again, I love supporting family businesses and wish Mike and his little boy nothing but success...so I didn't mind paying that amount. We have camped at many a places and think this is an average campground with the ability to be REALLY nice. We wish the new owner nothing but a successful transition to campground ownership and making this an above average campground. If we are ever in this area in the future we would definitely stay here again. We camped at Cherokee Lakes Campground in a Motorhome.

We stayed here for the weekend in an RV, the staff was extremely friendly. Noticed a lot of work being done around the park, really beautiful location. The laundry facility was extremely convenient, will be back. Would recommend to other travelers! We camped at Cherokee Lakes Campground in a Motorhome.

The campgrounds is older but filled with ambiance. The morning sun reflecting off the lake is beautiful. When I needed help the maintenance man or a full time RVer helped gladly.

The Bathhouse has restrooms and showers, older yes but very clean. I noticed that needed maintenance is in progress. Lakes to fish, worn paths to walk around the back lake, wildlife to spot, an Eagle visited some days, quiet mostly, with quite a few full time RVers, travelers and the owners family this campground is homey & inviting. I enjoyed my stay & was sorry when it was time to go! We camped at Cherokee Lakes Campground in a Tent.

This park is more for people who want to camp out in tents. The place is very run down, with drain pipes falling off buildings, and mud holes everywhere. I would not stay here again. We camped at Cherokee Lakes Campground in a Fifth Wheel.
