If you plan to arrive late and leave early, you might be happy because this is a run down campground. Don't plan on more than one night. No quiet time set - in fact NO RULES. Loud talking until ___ dunno when since I took a sleep aid at midnight and was able to fall asleep when the AC was running. Lots of permanent (it appeared) residents and run down RVs. Office person was pleasant when we arrived and took us to our site. No designated pet areas. We camped at Beacon RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

We chose this campground because of the close proximity to I29. We were surprised that it is in town & on a busy road. This campground is an old trailer park. To enter the area the road is on a downward slope. The road goes left and right to the office with a little more slope. It looks very awkward especially for big rigs. The host showed us to our spot with no incidents. There were other big rigs there so I think it is the first impression of the entrance into the campground. It is a friendly place with nice shade. We spent 2 nights. We camped at Beacon RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Very tight spots. Lots of permanents, place for weary travelers, no Wi-Fi or TV, satellite is a no go. Anything but big rig friendly, sites are very hard to get into in the morning, as residents aren't up and about until 9 am. Will stop in rest area or truck stop next time. We camped at Beacon RV Park in a Motorhome.

We were tired but after driving through Beacon RV Park, we went another 1.5 hours to find a campground that caters to travelers and tourists.

This place was filled with permanent residents. Crowded, cluttered sites and in an in-town neighborhood. Site surface is gravel and sand. Mostly shady lots. We camped at Beacon RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

Overall Rating:

Located just off major commercial road in St Joseph. Didn't look like much when we drove in. Quite a few long-term renters in the park. However, our site was very nice. It was actually a back-in site with another site immediately behind it, but since no one was in the other site, we could pull thru. Nicely shaded site with full hook ups. Not very wide - neighbors close by, but OK. Only 2 bathrooms. Like a residential bathroom with toilet, lavatory and shower all in one room. Clean. Did not shower there. Parking for our tow was on the road in front of our RV, not on the site. Not a great park, but not bad. We camped at Beacon RV Park in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Not a lot to do in St Joseph. We were a little disappointed. The downtown retail area has been hollowed out by the big box stores and chains in the suburbs. Pony Express museum was interesting. There is a casino there if that interests you.

Steep incline coming off main road and tight turns in park. Does have a back entrance/entrance. A lot of seasonal/permanent residents. Most sites were broken concrete slabs and dirt. While not the best Good Sam park we have stayed at the staff were exceptional! We camped at Beacon RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

This campground is so tight you can hardly move. I had to unhook and back in and there was no place in the campground to hook up in the morning. The concrete pads are very old and broken up. Most of the spots are used by people who are living there full time. Many of those are men with very large trucks that make moving around the place difficult.

The woman at the desk was nice enough but I would never have gone there if I had had a choice. We camped at Beacon RV Park in a Motorhome.

We picked this campground from a 2013 Good Sam book. We need a new one! Things have changed around here. It should be rated no more than a 5 and that is generous. The office area was trashed with cigarette butts not a welcoming sight. And the office it self stunk. The woman was friendly and led us to our site which was full of potholes. No grass, no picnic table, small pad that I guess is the patio. But we parked there so our jeep was off the street. We usually walk around in the evening but not here. Just not pleasant. We camped at Beacon RV Park in a Motorhome.

Just stayed one night. Was surprised that it is in the middle of businesses on a main street. Was very warmly greeted. Very friendly and accomodating. Had what we needed and created a long pull through by putting us on two sites. Last minute stop on our route. All gravel. No complaints for our use. Easy in and out through the back entrance. We camped at Beacon RV Park in a Motorhome.

We were worn out from a days travel and stopped for the night. It is not too far off of US-169N. If headed North on US-169N it is on the left side of the four-lane and is part of Beacon RV Sales. You will need to look for the sign as it is in the mix of a bunch others.

The campground check-in was very quick and straightforward and the lady even helped us park. We made our hookups (there is no cable TV here) and the WiFi was pretty much useless but the site was clean and level and the utilities were usable. I would stay again if I needed a place but who know when we might be through this area again. We camped at Beacon RV Park in a Motorhome.

Overall Rating:

Old RV park that is really a "trailer park" with permanent RVs instead of mobile homes. There are, therefore, so many extra vehicles that they are parked all along both sides of the park's roads. We had no reservation but got a full hook-up, pull-thru with a deteriorating concrete drive, a small patio, and a little grass. But each pull-thru was designed for two RVs back to back, so another RV backed in behind us a hour or so later. The next morning we had to ask the permanent next-door RV owner to move his truck so we could get out of our "pull-thru" into the road to exit the park. We would not ever stay at this park again! We camped at Beacon RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Overall Rating:

During our "20-minute visit" we had difficulty maneuvering through the roads congested with park vehicles, the parks appearance was degraded by many long-term residents that had the normal clutter accumulated over time, and the spaces were aged with pads in need of repair. The office reeked of smoke. The office sits down a hill below a very busy highway making arrival hazardous, plus management allowed the entrance to be blocked by an 18-wheeler loaded with small RVs, a permanently (?) parked work trailer, and a guest's car protruding several feet into the road way. Our toad was left blocking the busy road and just waiting to be road kill, and the office was more concerned about verifying our reservation than getting us off the hwy. Because of management's indifference to our being left hanging out onto the hwy, to the condition of the park, and the indifference to having after-hour reservations ready for checking, we left to find another park and was refunded our reservation money. We camped at Beacon RV Park in a Motorhome.

Concrete runners on sites are broken and/or missing. Grass areas around site are low and stay soggy when rains.

Many long term residents. Everyone parks in street making it extremely difficult to get into and out of sites. We camped at Beacon RV Park in a Motorhome.

Overall Rating:

Far from the worst place I've stayed at. Older park but not full of junk like many. Concrete parking spots and small patios, not in the best shape but beats going through the mud. This is a suitable place for a night or two. Cable worked good. Reasonably good part of town. Easy to get in and out. Friendly staff. Several long term residents. Not a lot of choices in this area to stay at. This is probably the best one. We camped at Beacon RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.
