Traveling in a 43ft Class A with 4 slides and tow vehicle. Small no frills campground conveniently located off the highway and right on the Current River. No amenities. Road to the CG is narrow for a big rig but thankfully no one else was on the road. Interior roads are big rig friendly. Roads and sites are gravel. Site was long enough that we did not have to unhook car. Good utilities and conveniently located. Could not get Direct TVB satellite due to trees but had good AT&T cell service. We camped at Big Springs RV Camp in a Motorhome.

Overall Rating:

Note this RV park was under about 15' of water last May, 2017. There's no obvious signs of water damage except one cabin that they are remodeling. Roads: Gravel and easy to get around on. Sites: Gravel and roomy and pretty level. Fire ring, picnic table. WES 20,30,50 amp water and sewer at site. We were in site #27 and the sewer hook up looked like a long ways from the dump valves. But it also looks like you could back up 10-15' to bring it in range. Bathrooms and Showers were clean. The showers had pretty good hot water but the pressure was a bit low. Some sites have partial to near total shade most of the drive thru sites have no shade to speak of. They have cable but we didn't hook up. Verizon Phone will work here but there's no data available for the Mifi. They have Wifi here and we were pretty close to the office and got enough of a signal to take care of business and so some slow surfing. They have inside and outside places in the office area to do you Inet work. The staff was friendly and helpful. The park is right on the Current River which is normally clear but was very muddy when we were here. The park is quiet and peaceful. We'd stay here again if we're in the area. We camped at Big Springs RV Camp in a Motorhome.

GPS didn't use best route. Check web site directions. Kind of strange situation. The flood damaged office is at rear of campground. We could not connect to the wifi, and the signal on both Verizon and AT&T is not strong enough for data. That was a killer for me. Cable only got a few gainy channels. A pretty location, but I wouldn't St ay again. We camped at Big Springs RV Camp in a Motorhome.

Very friendly owners. The park is recovering from major flooding this past April. All new hookups installed. Cable and wifi worked great. The grounds do not look like they had 40 feet of flood water. The seasonal campers are all relatively new and neat. Sites with tree cover and some without. Gravel parking with plenty of space. River sites very nice but are backins. We would stay again if in the area. We camped at Big Springs RV Camp in a Fifth Wheel.

Nice small very quiet wooded park on the Current River with all the hookups including cable and WiFi that worked well. Good gravel roods and gravel pads. Clean bathroom/shower facilities. Very friendly owners that went beyond the call for me. I left my key on when we arrived resulting in a dead battery and they let me barrow a battery charger to get me going again. Easy access and roomy for easy parking and not right on top of your neighbor. There are a number of long term users but all were clean, friendly, and quiet. Some may not like the less than manicured look but it was perfect for me. Not much to do in this park itself, just a nice quiet, laid back place to stay. This was a great spot and I wish we could have stayed longer. It's on a great spot on the river and high and dry. The owner was incredibly nice and welcoming. We had a pull through that was plenty long to stay connected with a 38 foot fiver. The drive in from the highway was fine-go in on Chicopee road off of 103-the other GPS option looked very small and residential. Had trouble with wi-fi but did not worry about it and just used our phone connections. Had full hookups , 50amp, with sewer- all worked perfect. There are a few permanent campers but most spots are open for nightly stays. Interior roads are fine and wide enough. Would stay there again if in the area! We camped at Big Springs RV Camp in a Fifth Wheel.

Overall Rating:

We almost didn't stay in Big Spring RV Park, from the impression we had from other reviewers that it might be problematic to find/get into/navigate within the park. I'm glad we went--What a shame if we had missed this nice park!

If you're heading east, you've got a simple right turn onto 103, go 1/4 mile, turn left on Chicopee, and the park is 1/4 mile up on the left. Heading west, you'll have to cross the two lanes of Hwy 60 from the left hand turn to get into 103, but traffic (when we visited anyway) was light & should not present a problem. (Summer weekends might be a different matter though).

Our enthusiasm for this park was not dampened (pun intended) even by the torrential rains that muddied the Current River into flood stage, and scrapped our plans for a float trip. (The RV park is a concessionaire for the National Park Service, for tube rentals & shuttle service to float this federally protected wild river). We took our toad to explore the beautiful rivers by land--get a map from the office or Ozark NRR Park Headquarters in town. The RV park itself did not flood or seem in any danger of doing so, as it is significantly above the river. A ramp at the side of the office gives easy access for launching tubes or kayaks.

All hook-ups worked well. Water pressure is very strong & you'll want a regulator.

WiFi at our site was spotty, although I managed to get my internet needs met by sitting in the comfortable porch area of the office, where the WiFi was excellent.

Owner was warm, friendly & seemed genuinely interested in making our stay a pleasant one. We are eager to return & have another chance at a float trip. We camped at Big Springs RV Camp in a Motorhome.

Overall Rating:

We stayed 1 night while traveling through the area.

The access to the park from US-60 (a divided 4 lane highway) requires passing through an uncontrolled intersection so turning off or onto the US-60 poses a slight hazard. Then travel is along a narrow rural residential road. And finally, the driveway into the park is steep creating the possibility of scraping or high centering. However, we didn't experience either of these problems.

The park DID NOT respond to any contacts online (electronic messages) even through their own website. Had to call the park directly to make reservations. The owner apologized for not responding to the electronic messages. The basic rate is for 30 AMP service. There is a $3.00/night charge for 50 AMP service.

The interior roads and site parking pads are gravel. The roads were narrow considering they were for 2-way traffic. The pull through sites were long enough for coaches and their toads. The sites were generally level. There is not much privacy between the sites as the sites are close to each other. They have full hook ups - water, electricity (50 AMP), & sewer. The utility connections were towards the middle to rear of the sites. The sewer fitting was above ground creating the potential for an uphill flow. There was an outside table and fire pit.

There are some trees/canopy that could make satellite reception hit and miss depending on site assignment and your dish configuration. Didn't try to get any broadcast channels.

The provided WiFi was adequate but it was dependent on how close your site is to the office. Our NET10 phone reception was acceptable.

No designated fenced pet area but there was sufficient area to walk dogs along the park roads. There was only one dumpster near the office to dispose of waste.

For being in a hazardous/severe weather area, there was no underground storm shelter. No structure was identified as a severe weather shelter. We camped at Big Springs RV Camp in a Motorhome.

The park is on the banks of the Current River and offers tubing on the river. The owners are friendly and want to ensure you enjoy your stay. The bathrooms and showers were very clean and well maintaained. The sites include both back in and pullthrough with full hookups. We were only going to stop for one night but wound up staying five nights and relaxing with the river flowing behind our site. We would definitely stay here again. Our GPS routed us off of Hwy 60 onto Hwy 103 and then through a rundown residential section. (Note: Go all the way down to Chicopee before making a turn.) So we had to make some strong turns where the roads were very narrow. The campground itself is in okay shape but has several travel trailers that appear to be there permanently. The sites are long pull thrus and are fairly narrow, but there is good spacing between them. Many of the sites on the river are already taken. The operator at check-in was very friendly and accommodating. We camped at Big Springs RV Camp in a Motorhome.
