Common areas were watered but the sites did not have any grass. Sites were so close I could see into the neighbor's rig on one side and the other side had the sewer and water hookups in our yard. We could not use our picnic table due to proximity. All sites were pull-through. We camped at Ruby Valley Campground and RV Park (formerly Virginia City KOA) in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

Visit Virginia City. See the Virginia City Players at the Opera House. Ride the train to Nevada City. Only main highway is paved; city streets are narrow and gravel. Park RV in designated area and walk into town.

This park had previously been a KOA. New owners are making improvements but it leaves much to be desired. We were crammed into a site so small my pick up door opened into the neighbors patio area. There was a large tree along side the site that I was barely able to get on the site because of it. There may be a site or two that are better but I didn't see it. All seemed very small and very tight. I have never been this close anywhere before. The owners were nice and helped me get parked on this tight site. We camped at Ruby Valley Campground and RV Park (formerly Virginia City KOA) in a Travel Trailer.

Old KOA that has seen better days. Run down facilities. New owner is slowly repairing and upgrading. Sites are too close together. Sites are gravel, level with minimal shade. No pool or club house. Small store. Staff was courteous and friendly. WIFI weak, ATT weak, Verizon good, no cable. Pricey for what is offered, but acceptable. We camped at Ruby Valley Campground and RV Park (formerly Virginia City KOA) in a Motorhome.

We stayed here with our Girl Scout Troop on the way home from Yellowstone National Park. While in the area we mined for gold in Virginia City and the camp host helped us with directions on where to find garnets. Loved the wooden bench swings in front of the cabins. One of the cabins was a bit of a tight squeeze between the bunk beds. My family will happily come here again in the future. We camped at Ruby Valley Campground and RV Park (formerly Virginia City KOA) in a Campground Cabin.

This is one of the nicest and friendliest KOA’s we ever stayed at. Has a wonderful host and he is a very good guy. He and his 1 helper do it all, and they do it right. The campground is very well kept and the bathrooms and showers are always very clean. We have stayed here several times, and do so anytime we are anywhere near this part of Montana. We love this KOA and you will too. We camped at Ruby Valley Campground and RV Park (formerly Virginia City KOA) in a Fifth Wheel.

Overall Rating:

The Campground has long and wide sites, some as long as 110 feet. Our gravel site (#27) was on the end of the row, under a tree, and had a large, lush grassy area with a picnic table. It is very quite here, no trains, etc. The bathrooms and laundry are immaculate, the store is well stocked and the owners are very friendly. They have lots of bicycles that you can use for free. No cable and we had no TV reception with our antenna. Located 10 miles east of Virginia City on the outskirts of Alder. Alder has restaurants without tourist prices. Diesel available in Alder. Not far from Ruby Reservoir, a place where people pan for gold and especially Garnets. Our Verizon phone and Internet had full bars. A very nice place to stay. I would give it a higher rating, but we had no cable or pool. We would stay here anytime we are in the area. $34.00 rate was with KOA card. We camped at Ruby Valley Campground and RV Park (formerly Virginia City KOA) in a Fifth Wheel.
