5 Parks near Big Sky, Montana
Jul 2016 - $14.00
Red Cliff National Forest Campground is one of our nearby, "go to" weekend campgrounds. They have a loop of electric hookup sites most of which are reservable (recreation.gov), but with a generous number of "walk up" sites available.
The campground is on the Gallatin River, which separates from the campground from Highway 191. There are two loops, one with electric-served sites, and another for standard sites. The electric sites are in a lightly forested area, with the regular sites looping around an open, grassy space. The latter loop was completely redone by the Forest Service last year, and is beautiful, with large, mostly back-in sites. There is water available for RVs, but no dump. All the sites have fire rings and robust, fixed-in-place picnic table. Site separation is superb. Most sites are very level.
Big Sky is about 10 miles away, and there is a pleasant rustic restaurant/bar about a mile away (great pie!).
One of our faves, and an example of why the Forest Service should be better funded so this caliber campground could be available more commonly. - jclifton
Sep 2015 - $15.00
Simple campground along Gallatin river. Some hook up sites but we liked the others better. Gravel roads and sites. Pit toilets. Nice space between most sites. Great stop on the way to Yellowstone. - 2blondes
Aug 2014 - $24.00
This is an excellent forest service cg. Liked it so much last year, we reserved an Electric site for a weekend, but the $9 fee was unsettling. However, the base rate was just $24, then half off for Passes. Nice place to relax, with no internet, cell, etc. But the daytime highway noise gets loud. No dump station, but 2 water spigots available. Go to Big Sky for a cell signal, stop at the Hungry Moose for great eats, and many recycling bins nearby. - Annie's Song
Jul 2016 - $8.00
A hidden gem 30 miles south of Bozeman about a mile off hwy 191. Scenic and quiet is what you get at this class Forst Service campground. It has sites that are in shade part of the day, but the sun peaks through too. All the sites are next to Swan Creek which will sing you to sleep each night. We had a 30' rig (tip to tail) and had no problems with out site, but I wouldn't recommend anything much bigger. Dry camping, no cell service at all, but a gorgeous place to recharge. Campground host kept the sites very clean. Note the road in is a one lane gravel with pullouts. - UTTransplant
Aug 2016 - $38.00
This is a very small RV park located just as you enter Ennis from the south. There are no restrooms, showers, or cable but there is 50 amp, water and sewer. This park is hidden gem and is only a couple of blocks from 'downtown' Ennis and a nice Lions Club park is next door with access to the Madison River and several paved paths with benches and picnic tables scattered though it. There is also a small playground and fishing pond for kids. The only reason I did not give it a 10 was because of the lack of restrooms, showers, and cable. The sites are not large but it is usually not full and there are some seasonal sites for workers in the area. We will stay there again when we're in the area. We have a 36' RV. - KarenS144
Jul 2015 - $32.00
This is a great spot for a short stay. Nice people and a few shade trees. The view was pretty good and it is very close to town. - carold
Aug 2013 - $30.00
The RV park is located within walking distance of the charming town of Ennis and next to a great city park. The city park was great for dogs and has access to the famous Madison river. There are some picnic tables and a charcoal grill available but no fire pits. Owners are very friendly and helped my wife lower our awning while I was fishing. Great place. Note there are no showers or restrooms. - bugsy
Sep 2016 - $45.00
This is a clean, quiet park. Sites are rather short, narrow, near-level, shady gravel, separated by wide strips of grass and trees. In Autumn, many leaves will fall on your rig. Each site has a picnic table. Voltage is good. There's plenty of room to maneuver.
Verizon LTE works well.
WiFi is strong; I measured 1565.9 kB/s down.
No terrestrial broadcast TV or VHF weather radio.
Laundry: 2 top-loaders ($1.50), 2 dryers ($1.50).
There are 4 clean private showers for the park, but no shower curtains.
Staff are friendly and helpful. - wjzcbn
