We had a 30 amp pull-through which was too short for our 40' fifth wheel and truck, but the owner told us it was okay to stick out into the road since they had other roads. The interior roads were gravel but easy enough to maneuver. No OTA TV or cable, but easy to connect to DirecTV because of no trees in our area. Good water, sewer and electric connections, and we covered our larger windows with blankets since we could only run one air conditioner. The owners were very helpful, and gave us tips on where to ride our motorcycle for scenic rides, which we enjoyed very much. We stayed 2 nights rather than one, both at PA rates. We would stay here again if in the area. Our site was easy to level up even though it was on a slight uphill slant. Other sites in the park are one in front of the other. Good, free wifi once the owner turned on the booster, and it remained good both days. No table or fire ring at our site or the others near the road, which is probably reserved for their overnight customers. Others have said there is no 50 amp or that the 30 amp wasn't a full 30 amp, but we had 30 amp all while we were there, and I didn't find out for sure whether they actually had 50 amp. We camped at Choteau Mountain View Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Go to the Buckhorn in Augusta if you're out sightseeing, and August has a great General Store that sells so much stuff and has reasonable prices.

Great park. It used to be a KOA. New very friendly owners are putting a lot of TLC into it and are doing a great job. Strange lay out but that is done by the former owner. Very quiet with no trains and beautiful views of the Rockies in the distance. Free good WiFi, grass, tables, fire pit, full and partial hookups. Also a great place for tenters. We sure will be back. We camped at Choteau Mountain View Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Small little town and they have a great supermarket, Rex's Market. They have everything including wine. Not expensive at all.

The park is an old KOA. Nice owners appear to be trying hard to make improvements but the infrastructure needs some work. No 50 amp, and the power flickered off a couple times. Sites are rather oddly laid out and not very level. On a more positive note, the park is very clean, no rowdiness from long-term workers staying here, and the laundry facilities are good and reasonable. The Passport America rate was honored for our entire stay. We camped at Choteau Mountain View Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

The nearby Freezeout Lake wildlife management area is great for birders! We returned 4 times during our stay in the area. There are a couple of farmers markets that are pretty good, too. There is one held in front of the veterinary clinic and another by the museum/visitor center. Byler's Bakery is wonderful - stop by and get a goody on your way to Freezeout Lake!

Overall Rating:

The couple that own/manage the campground are very nice. However, the park is an older property and seriously needs to be updated. Biggest problem is power - no 50 amp service at any site, and 30 amp service is really only about 22-25 amps at best. The RV sites are strangely situated, in the the sites are in a line (nose to tail). The park was less than 25% full, so didn't present any problems for our big rig. If the park was full, we could see that it might be a real challenge to get situated on the site (having to back in amongst the various "linear" site configurations), and then work to extricate the rig from the site (this is a possible significant challenge for big rigs - not as much so for smaller rigs (ie: < 30'). We camped at Choteau Mountain View Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Entry into park was very easy. The new owners are wonderful. This is quite an old rv park. Lanes are gravel. Sites are gravel. There is no pool and no Cable TV. Satellite reception is good. WiFI is good some times and not other times. AT&T Cell service is good. Verizon Broadband is good. No dog park. Play area for kids is available. We had no Bugs. We camped at Choteau Mountain View Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

The cost was $45/night, and with a Good Sam discount, brought it to $41.50/night. The cost is too high, for not having cable. Other RV parks, with full amenities and beauty, are this price range or less. This was a lot of money for the quality of this park. You park on gravel, and our spot was unlevel, putting our wheels off the ground. No grass. But, since this is the only RV park in Choteau, I guess they can charge the high price per night. It is a former KOA, so it is configured in rows parked behind each other. They do try to park you so you aren't blocked in. The bathrooms and showers have been renovated, and they are nicely decorated and clean. The laundry room is clean and inexpensive. I saw a pool table room next to the laundry. The owners are very friendly. We stayed one night and didn't get a chance to visit the town of Choteau. We camped at Choteau Mountain View Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

As others have mentioned, there are new owners here who are working hard to update and make this a good place to camp. All roads and sites are gravel, some more level than others, and yes, it is in an old KOA configuration with multiple sites in a long row. The owners work to not block anyone in, so don't worry about that aspect. There are 50 amp sites - we're in #9, a long pull though with 50amp for our 40', 4 slide Class A. It's level, we didn't have to put the jacks down for our one night stay. The laundry room and office area are clean and inviting. Small book swap located in lounge area. We camped at Choteau Mountain View Campground in a Motorhome.

Choteau is a very inviting small town with many activities on the calendar. We enjoyed shopping at Mountain Front Market which carries gluten free, organic, and local products. If you're looking for a campsite for the upcoming Montana State Fiddlers Contest, call here for reservations.

This campground is under new ownership. They are working very hard to make improvements. So far, I could tell they have redone water electric and sewers. Lots are a little unlevel but to be expected for an old campground with lots of wheel patterns. Owners are very friendly. Grass was in need of water, very brown and stiff. Lots and yard where good size. WIFI worked well. We camped at Choteau Mountain View Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

A small home town. Little shops to explore. It also had a small museum about dinosaurs and a little history. Next door was a ice cream parlor. Elk Country restaurant was great, we got over fed. The town had a Lions Club swimming pool.

All gravel roads & sites with some grass between the rows. Nearly all are 30amp only, but he indicated they have "a few" 50amp. Friendly helpful folk. All sites designed to face west in a motorhome (end of June the sun is brutal on the windshield, covered or not!), but he allowed me to face east and simply run electric & water under the rig (didn't use sewer, but appears newish. Worked out well. Park is a strange design whereby RVs park in rows behind each other, so if you are in the middle you will be unable to depart before those in front of you. Not a problem when not full, and I'm sure they keep this in mind when putting you onto your site. With an electric upgrade to 50 amp and a lot of tree planting/nurturing this could be a nice little park. Site was almost level, but should have used blocks on down-hill side. We camped at Choteau Mountain View Campground in a Motorhome.

We agree with other reviewers that the new owners are wonderful and working hard to improve the park. Obviously an old KOA, the layout and infrastructure are dated, with 30A only. Most sites have no shade, and there is little grass. Our site was a fairly level pull-thru, and with few RVs in the park, there was ample room. The park WiFi worked well, but there is no cable or OTA TV. Verizon cell/data signal was strong. A park with enormous potential but with some ways to go. Somewhat overpriced in it's current condition, but it's the only park in the area. We camped at Choteau Mountain View Campground in a Motorhome.

This campground is under new management and the owners are working diligently to improve the grounds. The showers and restrooms were spotless. But even more important, the owners are on site and extremely friendly and helpful. The owner quickly found a three prong adapter in his workshop that I needed to use my tire air pump and refused payment.

The campground still needs landscape spruce-up, but they are working to accomplish that. All in all, a great place to visit. We camped at Choteau Mountain View Campground in a Travel Trailer.

It is only a short distance from downtown, but so smokey from forest fires burning in Montana we didn't walk. We camped here in a pickup camper and would most definitely return.
