Small state park right off the interstate. Most sites are too small for a motor coach, but, off the loop (towards the boat ramp) there are 3 sites that are big enough for 35-38' coach (we got a pull-thru). Host is very gracious and good natured! Good for an overnight stay. Went up to the Garnet Ghost Town. Stayed 3 nights. We camped at Beavertail Hill State Park in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Definitely Garnet Ghost Town - and if you have a 4x4, go up the mt from the I-90, If not, go the 4 lane from Missoula around the back side of the mountain!

Always nice to stay in the state park. With power and water for $30 I would stay here again. Very friendly camp host. What bothered me the most about this site was the most annoying trainwistle, all through the night!. Nice walking trails in the area, river side and very spacious sites! Thank you for letting us stay here! We camped at Beavertail Hill State Park in a Motorhome.

Overall Rating:

This was my first camp here at Beavertail Hill State Park and turned out to be more than I expected. It looks like they upgraded the campground recently as the 50 amp electric pedestal looked new. The bathrooms are clean vault toilets. No showers are available here. Also water is available, but not at the sites, unless you are lucky. Site 006 was within my hose reach and I was able to connect when I needed a refill of my freshwater tank. Campsites are large with plenty of trees for some privacy. A few campsites are tight for larger RV's. My fifth wheel is 32' and a little tight on site 006 where I parked, but doable. The big negative here for RV's is there isn't a Dump for your tanks. I went to Bretz's RV in Missoula. They have a free dump. Also if you don't like train noise, there are a few trains passing near here throughout the day. While not too close, you can hear it. We camped at Beavertail Hill State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

Located along the Clarks Fork River, float, kayak and fish. Nature trail is about an hour's walk. Clinton Market is nice place to shop only ten minutes away. I visited Garnet Ghost Town, only an hour away. If you go take hwy 200 out of Missoula. It's longer by at least thirty minutes, but paved, that is unless you want to go four wheeling. Most of the roads on the map off of Interstate 90 are dirt and get pretty rough.

We arrived on a Thursday without reservations. There were several sites available that would accommodate our 38 foot motorhome. We used a back in that was stated as 25 foot. Had plenty of room for toad also in great site by the river. All sites are electric, level, gravel, some shade, half big rig usable, basically quiet except for occasional train nearby. Enjoyed the setting, helpful host, proximity to Missoula, mile trail and river to float. No dump available and limited water. Overall, a pleasant experience! See why the locals love this park. Check website for availability and there are six walk up sites but once there, occupant can use for 14 days. We camped at Beavertail Hill State Park in a Motorhome.

Overall Rating:

Beavertail Hill is a small campground on the banks of the Clark Fork River. They have several pull-through sites which can accommodate larger RVs. The back-in sites are rather short. It’s best to check the park’s reservation system to insure there is a site big enough for your rig. Avoid site 6 (our site) if you can. It is located next to the comfort station. The fire ring and picnic table, which can’t be moved, are right on the path leading to the restroom. Everyone going to/from the comfort station passes you while you are eating or enjoying your campfire. The caretaker is very friendly and helpful, which is a plus. The main activity here is floating the river. We camped at Beavertail Hill State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Overall Rating:

The camp host was very pleasant and friendly. This was your basic "stop, sleep, and go" type of campground. At $28 it was too pricy for what you received--electric only. There was potable water available at spigots at various sites around the park and vault toilets. You are right next to the train tracks and interstate. Lots of noise. Keep the AC cranked up to drown out the noise. Don't plan on coming back. We camped at Beavertail Hill State Park in a Travel Trailer.

This is a smaller state park on a small river in the mountains. The camp hosts were friendly. There are campfire rings and picnic tables. There is a short hiking trail and several river accesses. There are about 6 sites that are suitable for big rigs. All sites have electric but no water or sewer. There are no showers, so I had to swim in the river. There are several first come first serve sites, and the rest can be reserved. You self register if you don't have reservations. We saw deer in the park. We camped at Beavertail Hill State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Overall Rating:

Expensive for no water, no showers, no sewer and no dump. Water faucet by the restrooms is non-threaded so you can't fill tanks without a water thief. Pretty, fairly shady and quiet, but even the pull-through sites are tight for a bigger rig. Very nice walking trail through the woods. Camp hosts are pleasant. Coin-op firewood dispenser, $4/bundle. We camped at Beavertail Hill State Park in a Motorhome.

This park met our needs well. We had a good spot, shade and reasonably attractive surroundings. Our evening was quiet, but in the middle of the night we were awakened by a train, and two more. We hadn't realized that there was a line at the top of the ridge to the north of the park. The laundry was pressed. 4 washers and 4 dryers for the entire park meant that people had to line up in the late afternoon. WiFi worked well and there was a good cable selection, including Fox News Channel. We camped at Beavertail Hill State Park in a Motorhome.

Based on another review, this state park proved to be accurate. Nicely understated with a ton of mosquitos. Yes, the train comes through several times, but the river is very near and beautiful. Can't hear the freeway. Nice ranger. Too expensive though, with no discounts. Pull through sites are adequate for our 34' towing a car. We camped at Beavertail Hill State Park in a Motorhome.
