Overall Rating:

Older park, gravel roads. A couple of long-term residents but not a problem. Good sized sites with easy access from the freeway. Even though it seems close to the freeway there really isn't any freeway noise in the park. There are some trees but we asked for an open site for our satellite. There are about 4 or 5 local air antenna stations but they do come in good. The restroom and showers are older but very clean. The owner/manager is very nice and accommodating. There aren't any other RV Parks for many miles in either direction so it is nice that this one is decent. The Verizon Wireless is very good and 4G. The WiFi was good but not many people there which is always the limited at RV parks. The only issue we had was in our site (#14) the sewer connection was a bit uphill from our sewer outlet. Our trailer is lower than many larger RV's so it might not be an issue for a bigger/higher rig. We would stay here again if we were passing through. Not sure if there is really anything to do in the area. We just stayed one night on our way east. We camped at Mountain Range RV Park (Winters - Monthly Only) in a Travel Trailer.

This is our third year in a row staying here. See my 7/16 review for a more detailed description of the park. We, again, had a FHU, pull-through site that was satellite friendly. The Wi-Fi worked fine until the park filled up. The bath and laundry facilities are older but clean. I saw no recycling. We camped at Mountain Range RV Park (Winters - Monthly Only) in a Motorhome.

Gravel road and sites. Rules warn you about rattlesnakes possible in park. This is a very basic campground. Owners were very nice and welcoming. Lots of long term tenants. One long term tenant even had a cow pen completely encircling their trailer! Wifi was good and satellite friendly in most sites. Good for an overnight stop but would not stay long term. We camped at Mountain Range RV Park (Winters - Monthly Only) in a Motorhome.

Park is just a block or so North of the highway and easy to get to. However, this also means that you hear road noise through out the night. Our site only had electric which is all we needed for an overnight stay. Pull through sites with full hookups were available. Our back in site was not bad. Level side to side and front to back. It was a bit narrow but not too bad.

The only incident was that we were not given the codes to the bathrooms. The explanation given was that the showers are an extra cost ($2) and when asked if we wanted to shower we said 'no' and the clerk assumed we did not need the bathrooms. The next day the clerk was not very "customer friendly" about the situation - enough said. We camped at Mountain Range RV Park (Winters - Monthly Only) in a Travel Trailer.

Good overnight right off I90. Some interstate noise. Dirt/gravel pads with grass and picnic tables. Many pull throughs. Fhu and e/w. 50/30 amp. Some sites shaded. Some more level than others. Very clean laundry, bathrooms and showers. Helpful hard working on site managers. We camped at Mountain Range RV Park (Winters - Monthly Only) in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Friendly town. Farmers market on Thursday. Pilot fuel stop. Montana Silversmith factory and outlet store. Try Bearstone Cafe for breakfast - great pancakes and the Big Lunchbox truck for lunch - great hamburger. Ford dealer was very helpful in taking care of our towed and getting us back on the road.

Personnel was cheerful and check in was efficient. The park appears to be a little neglected. The site we were in wasn't level and the picnic table needed to have the wood replaced. The advertised WiFi was not very good where we were located, but we witnessed people on their devices on the benches outside the park office. We camped at Mountain Range RV Park (Winters - Monthly Only) in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

Columbus is located right on the Yellowstone river, so fishing and kayaking. There are a couple of casinos in town if that's your thing. Also, the Museum of the Beartooths (the local mountain range) contains exhibits on miners, frontiersmen, cattle industry and Native cultures. Montana Silversmiths jewelry is located here and there's an outlet store right on the road into town. There's a nice IGA supermarket at 133 N Fifth St.

This is our second year in as row staying here. I would advise ignoring the 4/16 review that tells you nothing about the park. The older woman who owned and ran the park sold it this past year and it is now managed by a couple who seem to be doing a good job of keeping the park up to previous standards. Since there is no cable TV, we had requested a satellite friendly site when making our reservation and were placed in a nice open site right across from the office. Since many sites are not satellite friendly, request one when making reservations. I would suggest reservations in season since this park filled up on the July weekday we were there. By 4 P.M. customers without reservations had to settle for W&E sites and several were turned away later that evening because the park was full. The 11 back in sites on the west side of the park are W&E only. The rest of the sites are fairly level, gravel, pull through, FHU sites. There is about 15' of grass/weeds between sites. The woman at the desk advised that the WIFI would probably not work well once the park got full. She was right - it worked OK for our minimal needs until about 8 P.M. The main building houses the office, bathrooms, showers, and a nice laundry. I think there were 2 or 3 of each machine. I saw no sign of any recycling. We camped at Mountain Range RV Park (Winters - Monthly Only) in a Motorhome.

Internet did not work the entire time we stayed there. Would have given it a 1, but they did have sewer. The picnic table was broke, I mentioned it to the manager, he said he would look at it. Maybe he looked at it, but it was not fixed or replaced. Did I mention the rattlesnakes and power outages. We had to run our generator, even though it was against the rules. Have you ever stayed in a RV with no air when temperatures were in the 100's. We camped at Mountain Range RV Park (Winters - Monthly Only) in a Motorhome.

Quoted us a price for electric hookup that was lower than the full service hookup, but it turned out that the only space given us was right next to the freeway and very loud. The whole place is right next to freeway. When we asked if we could take a space further away because the place was almost completely empty, she said she would have to charge us the full hookup rates which were a lot more. When we said we would need to think about it, she told us to hurry up as she had better things to do! The place was small, well worn, and right next to freeway noise so we decided to continue down the road. Actually, we were so tired we may have stayed even for additional expense, but her attitude and rudeness made up our mind. We camped at Mountain Range RV Park (Winters - Monthly Only) in a Fifth Wheel.

We stayed here one weeknight in mid-July. We had a level, gravel, FHU, pull-through site. The park is well laid out with 3 rows of pull-through sites and 1 row of back-in sites. This sites are adequate size and there are some trees. There is no cable TV, but we were able to get satellite reception and their 802.11 network was OK for our purposes. While I am not one who normally gushes about immaculate bathrooms, these were among the cleanest I've ever seen in any RV park or campground. The laundry was 3 of each machine and relatively cheap. There is nothing recreational in the park. The owner (an 81 year old woman) seems to do everything. There are gas stations and a couple fast food places across the interstate - less than a 10 minute walk. We camped at Mountain Range RV Park (Winters - Monthly Only) in a Motorhome.

Overnight stay and that's about all this park is good for. Small park with 44 sites, some back-in, most pull through. Rough road entering to all dirt park. Some shade and very windy when we stayed. Did not use bathrooms but did look at them and they were very clean. Would stay here again if I'm tired. We camped at Mountain Range RV Park (Winters - Monthly Only) in a Motorhome.

Typical 'Western Small Town Campground'. Open, mostly gravel and dirt. Just off of the interstate. OK for an overnight. About 1/2 of the sites are long term construction workers. The local refinery is due for an overhaul so the Manager is busy on the phone with workers looking for a long-term site. Manager works hard, seems to be a one-women show; she does everything from the front desk to mowing; but her stress is telling on her attitude. Most sites are pull-thru. We camped at Mountain Range RV Park (Winters - Monthly Only) in a Motorhome.

The park is the pits. Our site was in a hole, not level. Rough gravel road and sites, lots of dust, hook-ups to far to left. No place for a picnic table, up hill out our door. Will never return. We camped at Mountain Range RV Park (Winters - Monthly Only) in a Fifth Wheel.

Close to the interstate with easy access but not much noise, the park is slightly terraced with long, mostly level pull-thru gravel sites. Friendly office staff at check in. WiFi was typical campground erratic and there's no cable but some OTA TV. Some trees but not much impedance to satellite TV. Verizon cell/4G were very good, and hookups worked well. A good overnight stop that we'll use again. We camped at Mountain Range RV Park (Winters - Monthly Only) in a Motorhome.
