First of all, you're in Glacier National Park, so you get an automatic 10 for location. The Park Rangers running the campground were very visible and very congenial. It is dry camping, so it can't compare to a regular commercial campground. Our site B-89 actual had a pretty strong Verizon signal. Parking was tight as expected. Fish Creek is next to a nice bike path and picnic area along Lake McDonald. We went there for a lunch and we almost had the place to ourselves. This was a time when the Visitor Centers were overflowing with people. We would come here again if visiting GNP. We camped at Fish Creek Campground (NPS Campground) in a Motorhome.

August 12,13 Fish Creek Campground, Glacier National Park, Montana, West Glacier no hookups, reservations, 179 sites, site 78, $11 I have mixed feelings about this campground. It is in Glacier National Park about 2 miles north of Apgar Visitor Center, Apgar Campground and the boat launch area for Lake McDonald. We were able to ride our bikes to those areas. The campground is the only one taking reservations in the western area of this park. The other campgrounds are first come and most have been filled by 8 am. They do post the fill times for Glacier NP campgrounds on their website and at the Visitor Center. What we did is stay here for two nights and then moved up into Avalanche Campground. Fish Creek has four loops all on a hill going down to the lake. Only Loop C the non generator loop has a few sites with lake view, A and C Loops have a walk down to the lake. Many of the sites are not level and all loops have little hills. We were in the B Loop which has some sites for bigger rigs but read the description. Our site 78 was terrible - not level and narrow. Our second night here there were some campers who were very loud well past 1 am. There is a dump station here with a water fill. If we returned we would try to get into Apgar Campground the biggest campground in this park and the sites are more level and there is more to do in the park. Shuttles do come to all these campgrounds to take you to the Going To The Sun Road. We camped at Fish Creek Campground (NPS Campground) in a Motorhome.

Fish Creek is one of two campgrounds in Glacier National Park that can be reserved. It is on the west side of the park, St. Mary is the east side. The park is a fantastic place to visit, but I don't believe there are any campsites IN the part that have hookups of any kind. Another campground near Fish Creek is Apgar, which is quite large and swarming with people, a bit reminiscent of Camp Curry at Yosemite. We much preferred Fish Creek because it was quieter. If you like dry camping, this is one of the best campgrounds inside the park. The sites were extremely varied... some level, others very out of level, some with a large area for a picnic table, chairs, etc. others not so much. The access roads were reasonably good, but we saw someone with a longer trailer nearly destroy his awning trying to maneuver his trailer into a somewhat narrow pull-through. SPECIAL NOTE: While every loop (A, B, C, D) had clean well-maintained bathrooms, ALL of the showers are in loop A (4 total for 178 campsites). There is commonly a big lineup. While the shower stalls were clean, the dressing area outside the shower stall had a perpetually muddy floor, because it gets wet (naturally), and people are entering after having trekked a fair distance on dusty trails from other loops. We camped at Fish Creek Campground (NPS Campground) in a Travel Trailer.

Great national park site-very clean showers (they are in loop A only) and very clean restrooms. The sites were not very level, so bring extra blocks. There were some mosquitoes, but not overly annoying. We camped at Fish Creek Campground (NPS Campground) in a Travel Trailer.

There are a few towns near by for all you needs, gas, groceries, etc.

Prices in the park are quite pricey, but convenient. Gas in town whenever possible. Have a great time.

Nice campground in a heavily wooded area. We were in Loop B with a 35' MH and it was a snug fit both driving in and parking the unit. Limited generator hours, but that isn't a problem. Had a deer wandering behind our site. No wifi or cell phone reception, but after a day of hiking you are ready for bed anyways. No showers in Loop B. Also no water connections except at the dump station area, so if you need water be sure to stop there and fill before setting up camp. Our site was B80 and while it looks like a great drive thru site on the map, it is right at the bottom of a hill and driving thru is difficult with a large vehicle, had to back in to be able to center the rig between the trees. We camped at Fish Creek Campground (NPS Campground) in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

If you have nice weather, Going to the Sun Road is a must. Many other trails you can take. Parking at some of the trailheads is difficult due too many people. Might want to consider using the free park service bus that was running this summer.

Just off of Lake McDonald. We woke up to see an elk walking through the loop. Great showers / bathrooms, but the doors have a feature to prevent you from locking the door as you leave, and this confuses some people. Simply close the door, then lock it. There is some threat of bears, so food storage rules apply. Loop D was closed because of bear visits. Nearby touristy places are Apgar and West Glacier; Columbia Falls has groceries and outdoor supplies. We camped at Fish Creek Campground (NPS Campground) in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

See Going-to-the-Sun Road if it is open. If you need supplies, there is a grocery store in Columbia Falls called Smiths that is a good bet. Visit Apgar and West Glacier, eat something with huckleberries. "Back Room" in Columbia Falls is a very popular restaurant with great food.

Even though the park was very full, it was quiet and the treed spaces give an illusion of privacy although you are very close to people. Although the pull through circular sites are a tight fit we got our 40 foot rig in with minimal maneuvering. Dump station and solid Verizon and AT&T coverage. Restricted generator hours. 8-10am, 12-2pm, and 5-7pm. which was a challenge as the sites are very wooded and there was not as much solar charging as we would have liked. Well kept, well-managed, showers available but only in Loop A which is a 5 minute walk for those in other loops. Keep in mind you need to by a $30 seven day parks pass (on top of your $23 a night fee), or for $80 you can purchase the America the Beautiful pass which is good for one year on all federal land. We camped at Fish Creek Campground (NPS Campground) in a Fifth Wheel.

Beautiful wooded campground - no mountain or lake views in Loop B. We were there when the temps were in the 90s so the shade was much appreciated. The campground map doesn't show it but all sites are pull-through. If you don't want your RV door facing the road pick a site on the right-hand (outside) side of the loop We were in site B68 next to the restroom. Although our site was lovely, I would give it a 1 out of 5 star rating for irritation. The restroom doors "clunk" when they close which was annoying during high-volume visit times (morning and evening). The campground also gets noisy in the evening as families return from their day activities. I thought the campground was limited to 35ft RVs but there were several in the campground that were larger. Generator use is only allowed 8-10am, 12-2pm, and 5-7pm. Because of bears, campers are told not to leave any food, including coolers and grills, out when gone from their site any length of time - we saw the Rangers remove a grill and a cooler from 2 sites when the occupants were gone. Campers are able to retrieve their stuff when they return. We camped at Fish Creek Campground (NPS Campground) in a Motorhome.

Very nice campground in the middle of the forest, which I really appreciated. Plenty of shadow and a beautiful scenery. At your disposal, a fire ring and a picnic table. The showers were very clean and particularly convenient (you know what I mean, ladies !!). We camped at Fish Creek Campground (NPS Campground) in a Tent.

We had issues getting the camper (21ft) into the site. After a bit of work we got it in, but not the way we preferred. The location was great, it's a small walk down a path to the lake. Generator hours are a bit of a pain, they allow 8-10 am 12-2 pm and 4-6 pm, enough to charge batteries during breakfast, but we were always gone past 6 pm so no power to make dinner. We camped at Fish Creek Campground (NPS Campground) in a Travel Trailer.

Great campground. Trees everywhere. The west side of Glacier NP isn't nearly as scenic as the east side. But the campground was beautiful. We have a 35' fifth wheel and an F350 w/ 8' bed. It was a challenge getting out of our campsite but after moving a few site markers and scrubbing a tree or two, we were rolling. The sights on the inside of the loop have door and awning facing street. We camped at Fish Creek Campground (NPS Campground) in a Fifth Wheel.

The staff were available and friendly. This is a nice spot on McDonald Lake, we were able to walk down to the lake from our campsite. The rangers do a nightly program in the amphitheater. We stayed in a site near the entrance to loop C (no generator loop). The sites in this area were mostly level but not so much toward the back of the loop. We camped at Fish Creek Campground (NPS Campground) in a Travel Trailer.

I made reservations months ago and by the time we arrived the office was closed. Imagine my happiness when on the window our name was listed with our camp-site number. LOVED THAT!! It was a very nice looking camp ground with trees, nice bike/walking paths, clean restrooms (newly remodeled) with showers! Everything I read said there were no showers. They take tokens but it is a nice addition for those people who have no other options. The lake is gorgeous and was just a short walk from our camp-site. This isn't your swimming lake though...Brrrr!!! We had a nice bike ride to the "Village" with most of it on a bike path. The only downside: Mosquitoes. We couldn't go out in the evening to sit by the fire because they were horrible. That and no hook-ups was why I "docked" them. We camped at Fish Creek Campground (NPS Campground) in a Motorhome.

Fish Creek is the only park campground on the western side of the park that accepts reservations. The roads are paved and the sites are gravel pull-offs. There are no hook-ups and no showers. Generators are permitted for two hours each morning, mid-day, and evening. We stayed at this campground for 7 days while exploring Glacier NP. Our site, A-23, was large and overlooked Fish Creek. We were pleased and surprised to have cell service (Verizon). The staff was friendly and helpful, and presented nightly programs in the amphitheater. The Going-to-the-Sun Road did not open all the way to Logan Pass until the afternoon of June 24. We enjoyed this campground and would stay again. We camped at Fish Creek Campground (NPS Campground) in a Travel Trailer.
