August 22,23 Many Glacier Campground, Glacier National Park, 22 miles from St. Marys, no hookups, dump station, 41 sites with reservations and 62 without. $15 Golden Age This campground is very popular and hard to get into even when making reservations. All the sites are pull-throughs surrounded by trees. Some of the sites are in the sun all the time others mostly in shade. Sites 92-95 are along the creek. Our site was a reserved site #33 and we had a short walk from the back of our site to the night programs. We also had a short walk to the Swiftcurrent Motor Inn where there is a restaurant, store and gift shop. Hiking trails take off from this area and down the road to the Grinnell Glacier. Swiftcurrent Lake is close and the Historic Many Glacier Lodge which has beautiful views looking out over the lake. Campground is quiet at night because everyone hikes or bikes and they are exhausted. Ranger shows at night were good. This campground is on the east side of the Continental Divide at a higher elevation than the east side of Glacier NP, so the hikes are quicker to reach the glaciers. Lots of wildlife in this area. We stayed for two nights and just love it. There are no gas stations here so you need to fill up in St. Marys. We left at 7 am and there were already 25 cars or RV's in line at the gate to get a camping spot and many more driving in so try to get a reservation. We camped at Many Glacier Campground (NPS Campground) in a Motorhome.

Campground has newly remodeled or new restrooms--very clean. It looked like they were building showers and a laundry facility, but not sure as it was not finished, yet. Road to the campground is bumpy, but just take it slow over the rough areas. Beautiful views in all directions and great hiking trails nearby. The lodge and restaurant are close by, but had not opened yet while we were there. Lots of wildlife in this area of the park. Park staff were friendly and knowledgeable about all of the park areas in Glacier. We camped at Many Glacier Campground (NPS Campground) in a Motorhome.

Overall Rating:

Very popular campground located near some of the best hiking in the park. No reservations accepted so arrive early in the day to try and obtain a site as someone is leaving. The 12 mile road into this area of the park is paved but in bad conditions. Five sections have been washed out. It is passable but you need to slow down. There are approximately 25 sites that will take trailers up to 32' or RVs up to 38'. Almost all of the sites are pull through but the short radius makes many difficult to place a towable RV. Beautiful setting as you are surrounded by mountains and lakes. Water is available at the dump station. Bring all needed supplies since it is over 50 miles to a grocery store or laundry in Browning, MT. No cell phone service - AT&T is only available in Browning, Version available at St. Marys. There are pay showers ($2.50 for 8 minutes) available at the Swiftwater Motor Lodge. Limited groceries, supplies, and food available at the Lodge. Two restaurants nearby but expensive. Hiking in the area is wonderful with much wildlife to see. We viewed mountain goats, big horn sheep, and a bull moose while hiking. This campground with no hookups in a remote area is not for everyone but is beautiful! We camped at Many Glacier Campground (NPS Campground) in a Travel Trailer.

$23 is full rate, we paid $11.50 senior rate. Reservations taken and recommended. We could only book 4 nights and could not get any extra nights while here. This place is booked solid in the summer. Great base for seeing the east side of the park. Potable water is at the dump station on the way out. We were able to make the swing around the attendant booth after checking in with no problem. Then a short ride back to the visitor center to turn around. As reviewed, sites can be tight, took some doing to get positioned so our slides could go out. We camped at Many Glacier Campground (NPS Campground) in a Motorhome.

$20 seems high for no hookups or showers, BUT it is in the Glacier NP and close to great hiking so maybe worth it! Restrooms were very clean. We camped at Many Glacier Campground (NPS Campground) in a Tent.

Overall Rating:

We loved this campground. Lots of good easy hiking out of it, with the opportunity to see wildlife. We saw one black bear and a couple of moose in the lake 10 minutes (hiking) from our campsite. There is a store for supplies with in a few steps and the prices were right. Both days we hiked over to Many Glacier Hotel and the second day we took the boat trip with hike over to Grinnell Lake: really nice. We really hated to leave and would go back again in a heartbeat. We camped at Many Glacier Campground (NPS Campground) in a Motorhome.

No hookups & the sites weren't the easiest to get level on, but this is a National Park campground and those things were expected. Such a beautiful campground with easy access to some of the best hiking in Glacier National Park. If you want to experience the best of GNP, this is a great place to camp. Wish it had reservations, but would try camping here again before going anywhere else in the area. We camped at Many Glacier Campground (NPS Campground) in a Motorhome.

Many Glacier Campground is our favorite in Glacier National Park, and since it is also first come-first served, and very popular, you have to get there about 9-10 AM to get a site. There are very few sites that accommodate big rigs (>25’), but there are a few. There is great wildlife viewing in the campground We camped at Many Glacier Campground (NPS Campground) in a Travel Trailer.
