Stayed here for 6 nights and generally, the site was very nice. Number 8 has nice access to a small bay into the Hungry Horse Reservoir. Composting toilet was nearby and always has toilet paper and hand sanitizer. A group site was right across the inlet and connect to the campground. The first night it was very loud and rowdy well after quiet hours. There is a day use site right next to #8 and generally, the people using it walked to the shore right next to our site. Some were very considerate, but others were loud and messy. I wasn't really happy that there was some garbage left around to attract critters. I wanted to see bears, just not right out side of my camper. BTW we didn't have any bears, I just don't want them to be attracted to the area. Host made regular rounds and had firewood was for sale. Water is available; however, there is no fill station. We wound up using a 7 gallon tote and it worked ok. Boat ramp is available here, but didn't use it so I can say what type it was. We camped at Emery Bay Campground (USFS) in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

Directions not the best, drive through Martin City (past the South Fork Saloon) and up the hill, heading east. The road curves to the south eventually and goes to gravel. Follow signs for 38 toward the Spotted Bear RS (Ranger Station). You will pass a sign for Abbot Bay campground prior to the sign for Emery Bay. Road was rough, but not impassable and we were able to get our 32' fiver down the road relatively easily. Get some huckelberries where you can.

This is a beautiful campground. Most sites are level with good privacy, some overlooking the lake. Bad news is, almost every night was ruined by drunks, fights and just loud obnoxious people. This went on day and night. One night the Sheriff's came out to break up drunk crazy people threatening each other. One deputy told me this campground attracts "problems", most of which are locals. We met some very nice locals, but a good portion were not the kind of people you want to be around. We had someone walking in the bushes/woods close to 11pm right beside our camper. They were drunk and I threatened them with bear spray to get them to leave. While this is (and other NF campgrounds) are close to Glacier, I suggest staying in a private campground. I was also told by the host this campground had several theft problems. Roads are dirt in the campground and it seems to be a competition of how fast one can drive thru and how much dust one can throw up. Dustiest sites are 7 and 8, 6 has the best view. I would not go back because of the problems and people this campground attracts. We camped at Emery Bay Campground (USFS) in a Travel Trailer.
