We were not as wowed by this park as some of the other reviewers but that may because our space was average at best. It was close to the restrooms which was convenient but the restrooms are old and dated. The spaces along the river were probably better than those close to the back which is where we were but the spaces were small. And as is the case with many RV parks the wifi was spotty, especially at night when everyone is streaming. From the reviews and pictures we were expected something a bit more special with more charm and ambience. We camped at Spruce Park on the River in a Motorhome.

Overall Rating:

This is by far the best campground we've ever stayed at. The staff is beyond friendly and helpful. They are extremely pet friendly which is SO hard to find. Huge open fields where you can take your pets as well. There is plenty of space between campers, some more than others of course but you aren't slide to slide. Lots of room for kids to run or ride their bikes. It's right on the river so you get some incredible gorgeous views and sunsets! The highway noise really isn't bad either because you are below it. The cottonwood trees add a great touch to this place providing shade. This place is amazing! Make sure to drive slow as there are tons of kids playing or riding their bikes. We camped at Spruce Park on the River in a Travel Trailer.

This park has many wonderful features, not the least of which is its location, location, location. The staff is very helpful. Unfortunately, the cottonwood trees literally rain down sticky sap over everything, and the "cotton" from the cottonwoods then sticks to the sap! My truck and 5th wheel are completely covered with this sticky mess. If you camp there, be sure to specify that you do not want to be near the cottonwood trees! We camped at Spruce Park on the River in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

Glacier National Park is right there! Kalispell is a great little town with lots of good restaurants and things to do. If you come up Rt. 35 on the east side of Flathead Lake, set aside a couple of hours to visit Ninepipes Museum of early Montana history. They have a wonderful collection of cowboy and Indian artifacts, and an excellent self-guided audio tour.

Love this park. Going back next year! Close enough to Glacier yet right in the heart of Kalispell. They charge for dogs at $2 each. It's the only bad thing about this place! We camped at Spruce Park on the River in a Fifth Wheel.

Have stayed here twice now. Not sure about the comments from other users about rude staff, our interactions were fine and pleasant. Park was 1/4 full on memorial day weekend. Nice shade up front, more open in the back. Most sights on the river do not have sewer. Grass was mostly weeds and very long, need a mow. Our sight was huge, J6, others are tighter and some are right on top of their neighbor. Dog rules are very specific, but we have two and didn't get any hassle with owners. Men's rest room was clean but dated, never did see anyone attempt to clean it the three days we were there, but didn't seemed to used much either. We would stay here again. Seemed a bit pricey. We camped at Spruce Park on the River in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

White Fish Montana is a nice side visit. Large huckleberry gift shop in Hungry Horse Montana is a good stop for the tourist trap stuff, it has great ice cream. Glacier was busy and some road construction.

Dog rules are ridiculous, one designated area only to walk your dog. Nothing but signs and want to fine you 100.00 if you walk on grass. New owners have painted things up, but have a long way to go to earn travelers respect that have dogs. So disappointed this year won't be returning here. Wifi doesn't work at all (very very poor), very noisy hwy beside park as well. We camped at Spruce Park on the River in a Fifth Wheel.

We had reservations for a week and liked it so well after two days we extended to two weeks. Our site, while long enough for the RV, was not long enough to drop the tailgate on the toyhauler without being in the roadway. The laundry had 5 washers and 4 dryers and was always clean when I used it. The desk staff was very friendly and helpful. There was no one to lead us to our site but we managed to follow their directions. My husband was able to fish from the bank of the Flathead River. Wifi was adequate and we did not use their cable. It was an easy drive to the east entrance of Glacier Park. We could not use the fire rings since there was a burn ban due to all the fires in the area. We would definitely stay again if we make another trip to Glacier Park. We camped at Spruce Park on the River in a Fifth Wheel.

It is easy to get to Walmart, Kmart and their small but adequate mall. There is a nice Veterans' Memorial in the park as you head into downtown.

Pulled in for a night and right from the start felt very unwelcome. Staff was not very friendly and they provide a long list of rules when registering. Also not very accommodating if you are travelling with pets. If you do not get a river site there are only a few places where you can walk up to the river, but cannot take your dogs with you. Will not return. We camped at Spruce Park on the River in a Fifth Wheel.

This was our final destination of our 10 day trip. We stayed 6 nights here and visited Glacier National Park from here. Be aware - temperatures in July reach 90s so have adequate air in your RV. The park sits right next to Flathead River which is very nice - our kids tubed down the river. Our site didn't have any trees to add shade but most of our time was spent in Glacier etc. The site was very level. It is a very nice RV park and would recommend it to anyone! We camped at Spruce Park on the River in a Fifth Wheel.

"Close to Everything" I was given a 50 Amp FHU gravel pull-thru for my 42' 5th wheel. I had more than enough room to unhook and park the truck on the site. The grass was being cut as I pulled into my spot and the park looked kept up. I didn't bother trying to use the park Wi-fi or cable; just as easy to use my dish and hot spot. Some roads are paved and some gravel in the park. Yes sites are a little close, but not to bad and it is easy to maneuver around in the park. A picnic table is on each site and the park is away from any train or road noise. I would stay here again. We camped at Spruce Park on the River in a Fifth Wheel.

Scenic swift flowing Flathead river right behind the park. Saw many people rafting. Gravel, fairly level site with lots of shade. Grassy areas to walk dogs near the front entrance. Some road noise when outside from Hwy. 35. A couple cottonwood trees with the large pods on the ground if you or your pets have a sensitivity or allergies. Good central location for activities. Good wi-fi except 6 - 10:00 pm. $2.00 per dog/per day pet fee which we didn't care for. We camped at Spruce Park on the River in a Motorhome.

CLOSE to each other, like most "RV Parks" of this nature, We got lucky and got spot on the river G3 great view but way to close to each other. Bathrooms are old but clean enough and useable, WFI and cable TV didn't work in our sight, but ATT cell worked fine. Grounds are large and nice for walking, has few live in people but they are off to one side. When checking in you get large list of rules, that's fine but they talk about walking your dog only in the dog walking area, fine but put up sign where that is and at least supply trash can for waste if you want people to pick it up...it was clear they would rather you not have dog there. Spendy rates for the park but it's all about location...I would stay there again if need be and would ask for sight G 5 last of the river sight with no one on one side. We camped at Spruce Park on the River in a Motorhome.

Nice clean park with lots of trees. Roads are a bit narrow in turns, could be challenging for larger rigs. I was in a 40' class A pulling a 12' trailer. Had to drop trailer to get a site near the water. We camped at Spruce Park on the River in a Motorhome.

Spruce Park By the River Campground
Very easy to find right on Hwy 35. Nice paved roads inside a very well kept campground located right on Flathead River. Sites are nice sized and level. Very friendly staff that escort you to your site. Plenty of shade trees. Short walk to river for a fantastic view or to go fishing. Good Verizon signal. Would stay again. Tips for other Campers:

When going to the campground, go around east side of Kalispell to avoid traffic. Trust Google maps on this route. Dine at Nickel Charlie's for some of the best food you have ever eaten. Just a couple miles from campsite. Stop by Willow Huckleberryland in Hungry Horse, Mt for some of the best Huckleberry treats around.
