I love military campgrounds for their value and this one is one of the best. Concrete pads, mostly level (1 block on passenger side in site 8), full hook up and pull through. Gateway is not actually on the base, but adjacent to it. The Security Forces did a drive through, so it's likely on their route. The camp hosts are right at the front, easy to stop and check in. One stressful part is they do not take reservations, so we were sure to get in by 3:00 to ensure we had a spot as we are moving to AK. The laundry is good and at a dollar a wash and one dollar for dry, the value is there. The bathroom were SUPER clean, especially compared to Ellsworth AFB, where we stayed two nights ago. Nice dog walking area, not a whole lot of extra amenities but great value for the cost. We will stay here again if we get the chance. No wifi that we could tell. We camped at Gateway FamCamp (Military Camping Only) in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

It can get very windy here, be careful with awnings and slide out covers. I recommend you keep them in when not at home or at night.

Nothing has changed from my Sept 2015 review but I wanted to pass along occupancy info since they don't take reservations. We arrived in mid-June and stayed for a little over a week. The campground got pretty full but everyone got a spot during this time. I suggest you arrive early afternoon to improve your odds in peak season. The campground on base (Gateway Annex) only had about 6 RVs occupying 30 sites so that's a very good backup in a less modern campground. One other note, the Gateway famcamp does have wifi but the signal is intermittent so don't plan on doing much on it. We camped at Gateway FamCamp (Military Camping Only) in a Fifth Wheel.

Compared to other Famcamps, we rate this location below average largely for the inane policy of not taking reservations or having a phone contact. Getting there requires a six plus mile drive off the interstate through the heart of the business area, and if they're full your option may be the on-base annex, except you can't get through the main gate with a large RV. I feel sorry for the hosts, who were very professional, when they have to turn people away. The park itself is average; paved interior roads with unusually sloped concrete pads that are difficult to level on without raising the front wheels off of the ground. Hookups were good, no cable, little OTA, but no obstructions to satellite TV. The park WiFi was unusable, but Verizon cell/data were strong. An unusual rule was that tow vehicles could not be hooked up on the pads, which was inconvenient and made no sense. Opposite facing sites resulted in better than average space, but overall a mediocre location. We camped at Gateway FamCamp (Military Camping Only) in a Motorhome.

We stayed at the Gateway Fam Camp outside the main gate. In mid-August sites were full by about 2 pm, so arrive shortly after noon in peak season. By the end of August, there were always sites available. Sites are about 70' long with fairly level 35' concrete pads nicely spaced with good utilities. You share water via a splitter with the site next to you. There's no shade (good for satellite) and no fires allowed beyond BBq grills. The camp host is power hungry and can be annoying as he polices camp policies. Wifi works okay depending on how close you are to the antenna. There's a small laundry. If the off base Fam Camp is full, you can try the Gateway Annex on base. Use the 10 Ave N gate about 1/2 mile north of the main gate to avoid the maze of pylons at the main gate. Every time I visited the Annex on base, they had spots available. Both Verizon & ATT had strong signals. Weekly rate is $130 & max stay of 3 weeks seemed to be enforced. We camped at Gateway FamCamp (Military Camping Only) in a Fifth Wheel.

Very nice park, with great hosts. Sites are concrete and well spaced with grass between. Our space was slightly unlevel, but was able to get level.

Even though Gateway is not on the base proper, it is very convenient to the commissary and BX.

WalMart and Sam's Club are a short distance.

Wi-Fi was somewhat iffy, even though we were close to the antenna.

Yes, there is some noise from the base, but that is the sound of freedom.

My only complaint. They do not accept reservations and there is no contact number to find out if there are spaces available. The number for Outdoor Recreation, you only reach a recording. It would be quite frustrating to drive almost 8 miles off of I-15 to find out the is "no room at the inn". We were in luck and they had space, but did see numerous RVs have to turn around and leave. We camped at Gateway FamCamp (Military Camping Only) in a Motorhome.

If eligible, why stay elsewhere? Level, concrete pull through pads. Sites are close together, but the grounds are spacious. Turn to the right directly before the main gate to Malmstrom. Stayed only one short night. If Outdoor Rec is closed (as was the case for our stay), can pay by envelope. We camped at Gateway FamCamp (Military Camping Only) in a Motorhome.

Best park to stay at in Great Falls. There is no shade, but everything is very clean, and the Wi-Fi is excellent. No cable, but we were able to pull in 10 channels.

The pull-through sites are reasonably wide, with level concrete pads in the middle. Plenty of room for our 32 ft trailer and full sized truck.

Very close to town and Base Security passes through several times a day at irregular intervals.

The only downside is, it is a military base. They sound Reveille at 7:00 AM, Retreat and National Anthem at 4:30 PM, and Taps at 10:00 PM. There were also helicopters practicing at some strange hours, but not every night. We camped at Gateway FamCamp (Military Camping Only) in a Fifth Wheel.

Camp is meticulously cleaned and well maintained. There are few trees, all sites are pull through. There are playgrounds for children and there is enough space for families to enjoy themselves. The WiFi is intermittent but does reach the sites. We would definitely stay here again. We camped at Gateway FamCamp (Military Camping Only) in a Travel Trailer.

Previous reviews are still valid. This remains a good RV park for the eligible camper. Sites are paved with concrete slab in center for RV. Our site sloped from front to back but not beyond tolerance of leveling jacks. Park WiFi worked well and both ATT & Verizon had strong signals too. They don't take reservations but if this camp is full, Malmstrom AFB has another FamCamp inside the base perimeter. We camped at Gateway FamCamp (Military Camping Only) in a Fifth Wheel.

What you'd expect from an Air Force operated campground: Neat & clean, orderly, consistent services, safe pedestal power & sewer access, laundry room. All well maintained & overseen by campground hosts. Out on the high plains and an easy few hours drive to Browning and then East Glacier. And Great Falls, MT is a great place to stop for a meal or great coffee & pastries before hitting the road! Morning Light Coffee Roasters downtown, if you're a coffee lover! Easy RV access to park on the street around the corner. I love surprises on the road like this experience! We camped at Gateway FamCamp (Military Camping Only) in a Travel Trailer.

We stayed at the Gateway Park which is off-base just outside the main gate. All sites have concrete pads with electric/water/sewer at the site. All sites have a grass area, picnic table, and a grill. Cell phone reception (ATT) was great. Satellite TV reception was no problem. Bathrooms and showers are very clean. Laundry is a real plus. This is a great park to stay in prior to heading to/from Canada. After driving from Alaska to the Lower 48, this was a great place to stop and recharge. I will definitely stay here again.
