This park is in the process of being developed into a destination spot. Once the pools are complete, it should be nice. There are nice cabins as well. The RV park is gravel with full hook ups. Very dry here. They have had a drought so it's not attractive. No WiFi. Verizon phones work. The weather was windy and cold so we were not outside much. Had we wanted to use the fire ring, we would have had to clean it as it was full of butts and other junk. We camped at Sleeping Buffalo Hot Springs in a Motorhome.

A relatively new, work in progress campground. Very quiet - almost zero highway or train noise - and very dark (nice views of the milky way). The access roads and sites are a heavy layer of river gravel over dirt. Access roads are a decent size. The gravel is not packed down yet in the sites so it is very loose and may require jack pads. Sites have a lot of loose gravel that is significantly crowned so side-to-side leveling is highly dependent on positioning within the site. Our site sloped towards the front, but not so much that we couldn't level although we did have to pull out our extra step. Adequate site width with struggling grass, picnic table, and fire ring. Some sites have shade (mainly the backins) while others are entirely in the sun (the pullthrus). Power ok, water pressure low (40psi static, 34 psi flowing) - slight metallic smell, sewer ok (but slight sewer smell after heavy rains). No campground wifi. Verizon 4 bars with good speed. No TMobile service. No recycling on site (aluminum can recycle in the town of Malta). Possible road bike riding along the shoulders of US 2. We would probably stay here again. We camped at Sleeping Buffalo Hot Springs in a Motorhome.

Nice, quiet park. Sites are plenty long and wide. Pheasant families walked thru the yard behind our site. We did not use the hot springs or any of the other facilities associated with this park. Our stay was very pleasant, easy in, easy out. All utilities functioned appropriately. The only downside here was the presence of zillions of mosquitoes, making it difficult to be outside. We would stay here again if in the area. We camped at Sleeping Buffalo Hot Springs in a Fifth Wheel.

If you are heading East or West, this is a fantastic place to stay over. The hot springs pool is outstanding for tired weary travelling bodies. The RV campground is in progress. The sites are level and all hook ups are up to date. Though we did not stay in a cabin, they looked great. This is a family owned and run business and they are doing a great job. So do not pass by Saco Montana when in need of a place to stay, relax and get ready for the travels ahead. We camped at Sleeping Buffalo Hot Springs in a Motorhome.

The price indicated was for a back-in FHU with 20, 30 & 50amp power. Pull-through sites are an additional $8. We arrived on a Friday evening without a reservation but there was no problem finding an open site. The office area is nicely situated in the main building adjacent to the indoor pool/hot springs. These look very enticing but I was only there for a night. Sites are a mix of very long back-in and pull-troughs', all of which appear to have a fire pit and picnic table. The sites are gravel and dirt but did not appear very level. They are also at 90 deg to the narrow roads making reversing in or turning in to a pull-through more difficult than it needs to be. Initially I picked site 13 but on getting there I found the trees at the back of the site were too low for my 5er and the utilities on 12 & 13 appeared to be placed on the wrong side as they did on another couple of the back in sites. I then walked back and checked it later so I am convinced this was the case. Instead we backed in to site 3. Some sites have a little shade but most are open. I did talk to the owner who is very pleasant and helpful. At the time he was out spraying the enormous mosquitoes that are very noticeable. They actually forced us to stay indoors they were so bad, even with spray on me. The shower house looks like something dating back to the dark ages. There was a bad odor, stains on the floor and flies/bugs everywhere. On the men's side there was two shower stalls and one toilet. This had no door, only a shower curtain. I ended up by using the handicapped shower/toilet because that had a solid, lockable door. No soap at the hand wash sink, just a roll of kitchen paper to dry your hands. Wi-Fi is available but only at the office. We could pick up a decent number of OTA signals for the TV. We camped at Sleeping Buffalo Hot Springs in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

Located on the north side of US2 about 10 miles (16km) west of Saco. Not well sign-posted and if coming from the west the road is just over the brow of a hill. Bring mosquito repellant - lots of it. Not much in the way of grocery shopping, so bring that with you too. Access to the hot springs is approximately $8.50 pp. This is too early to be classed as a resort but in time, once the RV sites are sorted out and the shower house is torn down and replaced, it may be worthy of 'resort' status

Other than a place to stay while out in the middle of nowhere traveling US 2, you come to Sleeping Buffalo for the Hot Springs. Use of the pools cost an additional $6 per person when staying there. New owner has completely restored pool building with nice showers, exercise room + of course the 2 pools, one at 95 degrees and the other at 106 + sauna. New electric in RV section, but roads really need more gravel and paving would be nice. Two cottages nearly complete and look to be very nice. Small store but basically snack foods, they can heat frozen pizza or make nachos but otherwise, no restaurant. This place has potential and owner is working on it. We camped at Sleeping Buffalo Hot Springs in a Motorhome.
