A beautiful park located about off of the main road. The limited electric only, wooded back in sites are located on the upper loop. They are reservable on ReserveAmerica or through the Montana Park system. We did not have a reservation and at this time of year were able to find a very large, slightly sloped site with a lovely view of the lake out of our large back window and through the side windows as well. We did not see a ranger however there was a self-pay kiosk at the entrance. The fee includes the out of state park entrance fee of $10. We were able to back our 38 foot fifth wheel over the cement bumper which allowed us to remain hooked up. The 50 amp service was easy to reach and worked well. There is no dump station available . We saw one potable water faucet on the loop . There is no OTA television and satellite would probably be difficult due to the number of trees. Verizon service was spotty. There was a fire pit however fires are prohibited at this time due to extreme fire danger. There is a nice walking trail which leads down to the lake as well as the day use area. We would definitely stay in this area again. We camped at Salmon Lake State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

We stayed here eight nights. This is a relatively small state park at about 40 acres that is nestled between the road and the shore of Salmon Lake. All of the roads and pads are asphalt and relatively easy to navigate. There is a good mix of travel trailers, tent campers, and self-contained RVs. Our site was very nicely wooded with plenty of space between sites. The site was long enough for our rig and for us to park perpendicular in front of the nose of the rig. We had a fire ring and picnic table. They had a fire bundle vending machine with well-seasoned firewood at $5 per bundle. However, we went into Stage 2 fire restrictions while here. The park has a boat launch, beach, and picnic area on the lake. While they advertise fishing most folks were just enjoying their power boats and related water sports. We did not see people fishing on the lake. We did kayak on the lake and we also did the Clearwater River canoe trail in our kayaks. The water quality was pretty bad through the canoe trail with a great deal of nasty looking algae. This was a rare electric-only site and we managed fine for the eight nights. We were concerned that there are no dish washing facilities for the many campers that were not self-contained and had no holding facilities. We did inquire/complain that people were washing dishes from at the potable water stations, in the bathrooms, and in the showers. We felt this was not health for humans and food waste is an obvious attractant to bears. There was a black bear in the campground the night before our arrival. In addition, Montana law prohibits discharge of grey or black water onto the ground yet they left campers with no other options. We camped at Salmon Lake State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

There is a nice but short hiking trail in the park with several branches to choose from as your walk near the shore or up on the hill. We also enjoyed a drive up to and a hike around the Clearwater Lake which trickles down the mountain to form the Clearwater River. Clearwater River Canoe trail but didn't like the water quality. We picked our first-ever thimbleberries and enjoyed them in pancakes.

Lindey's Prime Steak House is an interesting experience. You can go there to eat one of three cuts of steak. JUST steak. Just one pound of steak...We'd suggest sharing the one-pounder.

This was an overnight enroute to Glacier NP. The campground is on beautiful Salmon Lake and has 2 small sections a few of the sites could accommodate the larger rigs but it could be tight getting in and out of most sites in my opinion. The hostess was extremely helpful with information and tips for things to do. I wish I could have stayed longer. We camped at Salmon Lake State Park in a Travel Trailer.

Overall Rating:

This is a sweet little park sitting on a shelf above Salmon Lake. Good spacing between sites and some sites will even have a view of the lake. There is a sani-dump in the village of Seeley Lake. The roads and sites are paved and park is well-shaded with mature trees. There are numerous trails surrounding the park as well as boat launches and picnic areas. Cell service is very weak, but with suitable body-contortions, you can find a signal, enough to get your mail. The staff do an excellent job of cleaning the sites and the facilities. The showers are private rooms. They have a feature I've never seen before---an automatic, coin-operated firewood vending machine. $4 for a decent-size bundle of wood. The park is close to a secondary highway, but noise is minimal and traffic at night is almost non-existent. We camped at Salmon Lake State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

The village of Seeley Lake is about 8 miles north of the campground. There is a grocery store, fuel, auto parts, and several restaurants, but don't expect to find fine dining. Recommend dining at the Double Arrow Lodge---best food we found and we tried several places.

This is a very nice State Park. Small, only about 22 sites. We have a 35' MH and anything much bigger would have a hard time in this park. All of the sites are well separated with trees around them. Several of the sites overlook the lake and there are walking trails from the campsite along the lakeshore. The showers were clean and hot. We were traveling through to Glacier, but this would be a nice park to stay at for a few days. We camped at Salmon Lake State Park in a Motorhome.

Overall Rating:

Beautiful small campground (only about 20 sites) in pine woods above the shore of a long, narrow lake in the mountains. The main part of the campground forms a circle around the newer bathhouse. (With individual shower rooms - nice!) About half the sites have electric hookups, including some of the lakeside sites. There is a camp host in residence. LOTS of road noise from Rte 83, especially in the sites nearest the road - the main drawback. Obstacles alongside the campground road make backing longer rigs into sites a challenge. (There is one pullthru site, on the road side.) Two small lakeside sites suitable for very small rigs are separate from the rest of the campground. Electric posts seemed relatively new. Views of the lake are beautiful, and there are several informal paths down to the somewhat marshy shoreline. A separate part of the state park offers a boat launch, swimming beach & picnic area; there is a trail between it and the campground. Showers, firewood & ice available - bring lots of quarters!! We camped at Salmon Lake State Park in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

Grocery, hardware & other stores, steakhouse, ice cream shop in Seeley Lake (7 miles north). Rte 83 follows the beautiful Swan Valley & the scenic drive is worth the time. A lot of tourist traffic on this road; it seems to be one of the main approaches to Glacier National Park (about 80 miles north). Boating, fishing, canoeing & kayaking are popular in Salmon Lake.

The cleanest campsite we have ever stayed at, toilets and showers spotless, even the pit toilet was clean and sweet smelling. Hosts were sweeping Tarmac roads when we arrived. We camped at Salmon Lake State Park in a Travel Trailer.
