We stayed here just as an overnighter both on the way to Canada and on the way back. I was surprised that there were plenty of empty sites available without a reservation (I tried to call ahead several times during the day, but no one answered or returned calls-- maybe something was wrong with the phone system). The sites had green grass, since I think they run their sprinkler system every night... the grass was soggy. It's a bit noisy since it's right next to the freeway and a railroad yard, but when you're on the road, it's to be expected, right? That's it for the negatives. The place is well kept, has a laundry area, full hookups, a friendly staff in the Best Western where you check in, and the $6 breakfast buffet makes it a very cheap stay combined with the Passport America discount. I would stay here again in a heartbeat. We camped at Trails West RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Overall Rating:

This is a small RV park located directly behind a hotel that consists of a half dozen pull through sites ringed by back-in sites; all the utilities worked. There was some slope to the ground but it wasn't hard to get level. Check-in is at the hotel desk. Access to the campground is via a narrow potholed road from the adjacent grocery store parking lot. A mainline RR track is across the highway from the hotel and, while there are no whistle crossings, the ground rumbles a bit as long freights pass through Shelby day and night. The campground is convenient for an overnight stop while passing through. The hotel offers a buffet style breakfast for $6. We camped at Trails West RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

Overall Rating:

A small, worn campground just off US 2 (behind the Best Western) Checkin is at the Best Western. Gravel access roads pretty much single lane and a bit narrow for a big rig backing into a site. Somewhat level gravel sites - mix of backin and pull through. Sites are relatively close together. Struggling grass with significant amounts of dog poop between the sites. Big rigs with a toad have to disconnect even for the pull throughs to fit (max site length is 60'). Power ok, did not use the other utilities. Campground wifi good signal strength and speed. Verizon 4 bars, did not check speed. No TMobile signal. No problems with satellite access. We will look elsewhere next time. We camped at Trails West RV Park in a Motorhome.

Great Wifi, but bring earplugs! We did a quick overnight here with hopes of exploring Glacier National Park the next day. The RV Campground is behind the Best Western at the corner of a big intersection (I-15 and US-2) with a busy train depot across the road, a highway entrance adjacent, and lots of trucks. You check in at the desk of the Best Western. The regular pices is $35.00 per night, but they honored our Passport America which gave us a 50% discount. The desk at the Best Western prints out a daily update on the status of the roads in Glacier National Park. The hotel also offers campers an "All You Can Eat" breakfast for just $6.00 each, notify the desk clerk if you plan to attend. There are 32 sites that can accomodate 30' to 60' campers, some back-in and some pull-through, gravel, mostly level, a few small trees, and concrete picnic tables, basically wide open and not much to buffer the noise from the trains and highway. The bathrooms and laundry were clean and functional. Tent areas available near the bath house. Sprinklers start at midnight to 7am so don't leave items outside overnight. Unfortunately the air quality worsened during our stay and many roads were closed due to forest fires so we were unable to explore Glacier National Park. We camped at Trails West RV Park in a Motorhome.

Not a 'destination park' but a really good temporary option. Sites are level, long and wide enough. We chose a back in site, but there are pull through, too. All utilities work fine, including strong wi-fi. Clean, modern bathrooms and laundry area. It is close to I-15 and a railroad, but neither was particularly loud or bothersome. Located behind a Shopko and Best Western, so not exactly scenic, but for the Passport America rate, what a bargain! We camped at Trails West RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

Helpful, friendly Chamber of Commerce. Good farmers markets in Shelby and Cut Bank. There is a small, older Albertson's in Shelby but we didn't care for it. Do your grocery shopping in advance if you can. Prairie dog colony behind the campground...cute little guys, but they are, after all, rodents!

Free good WiFi. at night a little railroad noise but not bad at all. We slept well. Great one night stopover just off the highway. But: the entrance is a little confusing, you have to go the Best Western (near Shopko) and the road is tight and not hotel worthy, they should put up a sign for the park. Checking in is in the hotel. We sure come back when we are in the neighborhood. We camped at Trails West RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Good place for over night! Good power, water, sewer hook ups. Sites are level. Some train noise. Very clean restrooms, laundry but only 2 washers and dryers! Gas/diesel close by. VERIZON work good. You need to enter the driveway to Sopko and Best Western and register at the hotel. You can get all you can eat breakfast for $6.00 at the hotel but you need to let them know. RV park is behind Best Western. We had a relatively level gravel pullthru site. Interior roads part pavement, part gravel. Check in at lobby desk in Best Western. Park looks to be only a few years old. Services/hookups are in excellent condition. BW wifi service does not "reach" the RV park. We were there for only a single night (en route to Canada); a great place for that purpose. We camped at Trails West RV Park in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

We entered/exited the park by driving onto the Shopko parking lot and using the Best Western driveway (between the BW and the Shopko). Part of that road/driveway is VERY pot-holed... go slow to avoid "rocking violently".

This park is at a best western hotel and is right off the highway, but far enough from the road and the trains to be fairly quite, the rate reflects a passport America rate. the staff was friendly, the site was easy to get in and out of without unhooking, power water and sewer were all good. the hotel lets you have the breakfast for an addition $6 which was very fair. I would definitely stay here again if we are passing thru We camped at Trails West RV Park in a Motorhome.

Nice park tucked in behind a Best Western just off US-2 next to a ShopKo store. Checkin is at the BW front counter so no problem for late arrivals. Quiet, most sites appear level or near so. Trains run east to west @ 1/4 mile away but were not a problem as it was cold and our coach windows were closed. We camped at Trails West RV Park in a Motorhome.

Well. First impression: this new-ish hotel has absolutely terrible signage on the road and if you happen to re-enter the freeway its a ten-mile round trip to get back. Secondly, the hotel does not have its own driveway entry. You have to enter by way of the Shopko parking lot and watch out for potholes. One must go to the hotel service desk to check in to the RV park. The check in person was very sweet and tried to be helpful, but could do with some additional customer service training as she had zero clue exactly which sites were available and wrote out everything longhand (not on the computer). There's a beautiful pool inside the hotel, but we were told that it was for registered guests only (apparently being registered by their desk attendant for their RV park at their front desk doesn't count).

Our site was pretty level and its nice to have green grass. There isn't any shade. There are around nine pull-throughs, but our site was a back in and we could have used some additional room to do so. We camped at Trails West RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

The area is good for hunting/fishing/boating. Marias Museum of History and Art is an neat stroll through the area's history.

The attendant at the front desk will give you a map of the town with local eateries. Be aware that the map is upside down and it's easy to get turned around.

There is an Albertson's in town for stocking up on supplies.

Trails West RV Park, manager at Trails West RV Park responded to this review

Dear Paul Elliott,
Thank you so much for the feedback! I am sorry that our entrance is a little confusing. Due to the proximity of the Best Western to the interstate on ramp, unfortunately the Shopko entrance is our only option. There is an entrance into the RV park direct from Adams Ave though as well! It is true that the Best Western's facilities are not covered through the RV park because of insurance reasons. The hotel runs the office for the RV park, but it is not affiliated with the hotel, so therefore RV park guests are not covered under the insurance policy. We are a new RV park and have planted many trees that will take time to mature and give our valued RV travelers some shade in the park. We hope you will give us another chance if your travels bring you back through the Shelby area!

Nice, small RV park right behind the Best Western Motel. In fact, you register in the motel. Gravel sites with nice grass areas between them. They water the lawn over night so the grass was nice and green even in August. They also accept Passport America so you can stay for 1/2 price. We camped at Trails West RV Park in a Motorhome.

Sitting behind a Best Western Hotel (that is where you register), this campground is perfect for a one nite stay when traveling east to west. The bathrooms and showers some the best we've found on the road. Basic gravel sites, close together with full hookups. For an extra fee, you can also take advantage of the breakfast at the Best Western. About 100 miles from Glacier National Park. Would definitely stay again. This was a single night stopover after our trip to the Calgary Stampede. The campground had all of the amenities needed. It was clean and my wife used the shower facilities giving them an A+ rating for cleanliness. The campground is near the BNSF train yard and the onramp to I-15. If you're a light sleeper, this maybe bother you but my wife (light sleeper) only heard one train during the night. We will stop here again when in the area.
