After camping in Glacier Park for several days, pulled in here to relax and enjoy the full amenities. Was given a back-in site on the hill above the office complex; newly constructed area with no trees but a short walk to laundry facilities, store, etc. Great laundry facilities. Did not use showers. A lot of money for what you get. But, it is close to the park entrance and one of the few places to stay in the area. We camped at St. Mary / East Glacier KOA in a Travel Trailer.

This KOA is pretty typical these days, overpriced & not very well taken care of. The sites are pretty close but doable, & not very level. the interior roads were mud & potholes. A few loads of gravel would improve conditions a lot. The weeds in our space were ankle high. We used to look to KOAs first, but now rarely even consider them. They're are obviously exceptions, but we generally look to alternatives. We camped at St. Mary / East Glacier KOA in a Travel Trailer.

Only a handful of sites level enough for a 43ft RV, sewer connections not EPA or MT EPA compliant (I'm reporting this), children managing the office. Never again, and we're telling everyone we know. If you use a cabin or have a SHORT trailer, probably OK if you can stand the sewer smell. We tried 3 sites to find one where less than 3 axles came off the ground or where our slides could come out. We camped at St. Mary / East Glacier KOA in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

You can reach everything on the east side if you leave early for your exploration. Perfect Cuts butcher shop and the Super 1 in Columbia Falls are great!

This was a pretty nice KOA with plenty of amenities for all kinds of campers (pool, hot tub, games, BBQ, pancake breakfasts, etc.). The sites are all big enough that you don't need to worry about being able to open slide-outs or awnings, but you're still quite close to your neighbor. It's a very large campground and they do use all the space available so it feels pretty crowded when full. The campground is on a hill so even though our RV pad was level, our camping site sloped steeply down as soon as we stepped out of the motor home (making for a very high "last step" when getting out). We had one of the premium back-in sites with extra room for a tent (which we didn't use). This site was nice because it backed up to a large green field making short dog walks very convenient, But it was right across from the campground entrance and office. This is a Large campground where people stay for only a few days at a time, so each morning we witnessed dozens of RVs leaving and each evening we witnessed dozens checking in, which can get noisy. Being a large campground, there are plenty of places to walk dogs, including a trail down to the lake where they can go for a swim. The WiFi worked reasonably well most of the time, and Verizon worked fine, but there's no AT&T service at all. We camped at St. Mary / East Glacier KOA in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

The KOA makes pizzas and will deliver right to your RV, however we were both very disappointed in the pizza and would not recommend.

We have stayed at this KOA before, eleven years ago and were pleasantly surprised by the recent upgrades to the campground. The setting is gorgeous with awesome views directly into the St. Mary valley of Glacier from your campsite! The main "lodge" has been expanded with a large camp store of not only tourist fare but groceries and RV supplies. The bathrooms are very clean and have a western log cabin theme which is neat. They have also recently remodeled the laundry room which is quite large and roomy with all new washers and dryers. There is a wide variety of sites to choose from ranging from no hookups all the way up to full hookups and nicer sites for large RV's. The sites are close together but there are picnic tables and fire rings. The campground has a pool and hot tub as well as a large playground. We loved the easy access to the east side of Glacier! I must also commend the staff because due to the Reynolds Creek Fire that broke out this July, the campground had to be evacuated and they were very helpful and professional. We had to cut our visit short so will definitely be coming back again soon! We camped at St. Mary / East Glacier KOA in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

This campground is perfect for exploring the east side of Glacier National Park, going up to Logan's Pass on the Going-to-the-Sun Road, and also visiting Many Glacier. It's also close by to Waterton Lakes National Park in Canada.

St Mary KOA was a very busy campground adjacent to the entrance to Glacier National Park. The design of the park on the side of a hill made it difficult to spot the rig due to steep grades and terraced sites. The layout seemed to encourage strangers to walk thru your site to access sites on other lanes which resulted in a crushed sewer line for us. Campground poorly maintained with overgrown grass and rutted access roads. Staff was friendly and offered BBQ nightly and Pancake mornings for $$. We expected a better design and maintenance for a KOA. Overpriced for value received. We camped at St. Mary / East Glacier KOA in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Glacier National Park entrance fee isn't collected until 8AM allowing for early entrance at no cost.

We stayed at the St Marys KOA RV park for 10 days in our 40' rig. Check in was easy because of our reservation. The check in staff was very friendly. There is a nice size store and gift shop along with a small restaurant with just the basics. They even deliver pizza to your door. The park is located in a spot that has some nice views of the glaciers. We found our space with no problem and it was easy to pull into our pull thru site. The sites are gravel driveways with a grass area. We were in space C16 which they consider a patio because we had a large grass area on an end site with a hedgerow separating us from the main road. People still used our space for a short cut thru the park. There are no trees in this area where we were staying which we prefer not to have. The spaces are very roomy. The sites are not level so you may need blocks or levelers. The utilities were all in the right place and in working order for my spot. Our satellite worked fine as did our Verizon hot spot. The camp does have WiFi. There are hiking trails to the river and lake and you can see wildlife near the park. We saw a grizzly bear at the river. This park is very close to the entrance to the National Glacier park which made going on excursions easy. Plus it was close to town. The showers were as clean as they can be with a few hundred campers. The only real con I could find about this park is that it had more dogs running loose then any park we had ever been to in the lower 48 states. We told the people working there but, we continued to see the same dogs running loose. We would have given it a better score except for that problem. We would come back to this park again. We camped at St. Mary / East Glacier KOA in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

There is so much to see and do at the East Glaciers so do your homework so you take advantage of everything here. One of the best hikes is at Logans point. Make sure you take the hike all the way to the lake. Amazing sights and wildlife.

The location was the only good thing about this park. Only about a mile from the St. Mary's entrance to Glacier National Park. The sites are not mowed regularly. We stayed two weeks, and after a week, our site finally got mowed. The sites are unlevel and gravel. The interior roads are gravel and full of holes. Although it appears they have plenty of help, maintaining the grounds doesn't happen. The WiFi is so slow, it's unusable most of the time. It's free, but you have to get a new code every three days. If in the area again, I might look elsewhere to stay. Just overpriced for what you get. We camped at St. Mary / East Glacier KOA in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

The Red Bus Tour picked up right at the campground.

After reading the leveling problems on the reviews, I was a bit leery but our site turned out fine. I suppose if we went another few feet, we'd be leaning way towards the front. We stayed at the other RV park in town last time. This was a vast improvement. Costly, as most KOA park are plus it's all about the location. GREAT views of Glacier mountains from our site. Staff was great checking us in, even though there were a number of people in line. Fast and efficient. Good camping store with terrific huckleberry ice cream. Wi-Fi did not work initially but did kick in the next day. Pool was clean and the hot tub was large and hot. We. We camped at St. Mary / East Glacier KOA in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Go down to the nearby St Mary River and dip your toes in the ice cold water and enjoy the views.

Pull-thru site had significant slope back to front but level side to side. 3-way services were satisfactory. Early in season but lots of work required to get ready for peak time. No cable or aerial reception but open spaces should make for good satellite reception. Glacier Park not open yet so could not explore much of area. We camped at St. Mary / East Glacier KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

Date of Stay: October, 2014 - $60.00
Overall Rating:

We stayed 5 nights at this campground outside Glacier National Park in October, 2014. Our site was reasonably level only requiring 1 set of blocks under our front wheels. (Many other rigs were using blocks as well.) There is a minimal number of trees in the park, which made satellite reception easy. Weather was cool, so shade was not really needed. It does tend to be windy at times, so we were only able to extend our awning once or twice, and would never leave the campground with the awning extended. The location is very convenient to the Park entrance, about 1 miles from the St. Mary's Visitors Center. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. Only two real complaints about the resort. (1) Inadequate Wi-Fi. I could not get my laptop to connect while sitting on the office porch. My IPad would connect on the porch, but not at our campsite which was closer to the office than most sites. (2) Additional bathrooms/showers are needed, and we often had to wait for a shower and even a sink in the office bathhouse during busy morning hours. There was a very nice bathhouse closer to our site with clean, spacious, and well-appointed private bathrooms/showers. However, this bathhouse was near the rental cabins and was heavily used. One of the three baths had non-working lock, and we felt very uncomfortable using it for showering. We reported this repair to the office, but it remained unrepaired throughout our stay. We camped at St. Mary / East Glacier KOA in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

We enjoy hiking and found East Glacier (rather than West Glacier) to be more convenient for many of the hikes and side trips we wanted to do. Our next stay in East Glacier will be inside in the National Park even though there will be no hookups. Much more economical with beautiful locations.

The staff works really hard to help you any way they can, but they're pretty busy in the front office. People waiting in line, staff on the phone, rude customers who just walk in front of everyone, not a pleasant scene. I just purely detest crowded front desks - it brings out the worst in people. But the staff is always pleasant, bless them. Especially that chirpy lady with short wavey-ish sandy blonde hair. Anyhow, nice park, no trees much in the RV areas. We were in Site F7 and there are some trees in those sites - we liked that. However, down in the tent areas, there were PLENTY of shaded sites in very wooded locations. Each site also had a mulched level pad for the tent too. Lovely. The RV area was just open meadow, and in my opinion, none of them had really great views of the mountains. Not horrible, just not great. When we arrived, the dumpsters were full to max. We stayed 5 days, and the dumpster was never emptied. People started leaving bags of garbage outside the dumpster. And this, bear country? Evidently they don't range down this far. Overall, pleasant. I'd stay again, but I'd also look around and see if there are other 50 amp camps around. It's just SO expensive. We camped at St. Mary / East Glacier KOA in a Motorhome.

Very nice CG. Great view of mountains. VERY friendly & helpful staff. They helped with reservations on Red Bus tour of Glacier. Strong WiFi. We had low cost Electric only site and even had one nite free due to KOA web site promotion. Better than average store selection of food, supplies and souvenirs. Has a Hot Tub near the pool. Also Ice Cream & coffee bar in store and could order pizza, made on grounds, for delivery to out site . Would definitely stay here if ever in area. This is our first 10 rating. Good Points: Wide Sites with grass - nice! Bar-b-que every night and breakfast every morning which we enjoyed. Good views. Friendly & intermitantly helpful staff. Bad points: Price. No TV - no antenna TV and no cable. Wi-Fi Very slow during 4 day stay. Most sewer hookups are at very back of site. We had a 12-15' mostly uphill run for our sewer hookup. We had a significant drop-off at rear of our pull-through, resulting in our metal framed rockguard getting crushed when we leveled the coach. I called the office to get a more level site, but they basically said that it would be too complicated to move me. I had to pull very far forward in the site making no good place to park the car without it sticking out into the road. In general, it is a very nice campground. However, for the price (highest price since we left Florida), I expect some sort of TV, moderately fast Wi-Fi, better located sewer hookups, sites that are level enough to not crush my rock guard, and not running the sewer uphill for 12-15'. Had it not been for these issues, I would have given them a 9 or 10. We camped at St. Mary / East Glacier KOA in a Motorhome.

Easy in/out access to the park. Check in was easy and the staff was very friendly and helpful. Roads didn't have gravel which is a ding as it rained most of the week and we ended up with a muddy mess. Same goes for the sites. Hardly any trees so line of sight for satellite dish was there. Utility hookups were convenient. St. Mary is a remote area so the KOA had both a pizza place and a breakfast/supper place that served BBQ in the evening. Well stocked for groceries and gifts as well. We would stay here again for the ease of access to Glacier National Park which is out your back window. We camped at St. Mary / East Glacier KOA in a Fifth Wheel.
