If you like trees, grass and a country setting this park is for you. About 5 minutes from the highway and it is very peaceful. There are a variety of sites with or without sewer and some longer than others. Nice people in the park, and there is an area for tent camping. Stop by the Montana Wheat Bakery before you get to the park for fresh bread, rolls, pastries, sandwiches and lots of jams and flour. We stopped for breakfast on the way out and the pastry was too big to finish. We camped at Camp Three Forks in a Motorhome.

This is an older park, as others have said, but it is clean and tidy. Because we are truly a big rig, 45' fifth wheel pulled by a semi, I called ahead to make sure we would fit. The host told us to park outside the gate, which was a good call since we didn't know which way we would have gone once we were in, and we would have taken up the whole entry. We were lead to our site - a double without sewer, which we can do without - and didn't have any issues with trees or maneuvering the roads. The new owner is trying very hard to spruce up the place, and takes great care to coax the grass to grow in the relatively harsh climate of Montana. We pulled in for an overnight, but liked it so much we stayed an extra day and checked out the Lewis & Clark Caverns and two other state parks nearby. Lots to do in the area, and this campground is well-located for an activity base. It's close to the freeway and Hwy. 287, but we weren't bothered by noise. The campground wasn't full when we were here, and if it was perhaps our experience would have been different, but we had a very pleasant stay with no issues. The hosts were delightful, and served a local ice cream at the office. Only $2 for a generous double scoop, rich and solid, very smooth Wilkcoxson's brand. We would definitely stay here again. We camped at Camp Three Forks in a Fifth Wheel.

Clean laundry accessible through office so it closes when the office does at 9PM. Small store with necessities, souvenirs, and book exchange. Ice cream by the scoop available in the office. Staff was extremely friendly and helpful. We were escorted to our site by the camp host. We camped at Camp Three Forks in a Fifth Wheel.

I'm going to be brutally honest, this park is not for Big Rigs! The park is an old KOA, the old KOA building is falling apart, the windows on the 2nd and 3rd floor are literally falling out! The grounds are overgrown with unkempt bushes and untrimmed trees and the gravel/dirt roads are very narrow. Navigating a 45' Big Rig to our site it was impossible to avoid the untrimmed trees that guarded the roadway... I would not return to this CG! We camped at Camp Three Forks in a Motorhome.

Restrooms and showers were not clean. Sites were very close and mostly shady. Site surface was gravel and featured a picnic table. Friendly owners with strictly rules.

I asked to clean my windshield with water from the water tap by using my water hose and a nozzle.

The answer was clear: "You can clean the windshield only by using a bucket and a sponge!"

I responded that I maybe need less water with the nozzle, than with a bucket which I didn't have. There was no way to talk about exceptions. We camped at Camp Three Forks in a Motorhome.

We found the staff and owner very good to work with. Reservations were made the day ahead, but a maintenance issue delayed us so that we would arrive after closing time. They were most gracious, watched for us and even drove us to our site - really helpful as the layout would have been a little difficult in the dark. A site without sewer saved a little $ and the holding tanks worked fine. The state park was full due to a festival and this was a very satisfactory exchange and cost about the same for out of state folks. Sites are a little close, but didn't feel that way because of all the trees. Website said closing 9/15, but stayed open through following weekend. Only con - had to use blocks to level one side. Our MH is 35' but several 40' there. We camped at Camp Three Forks in a Motorhome.

This has been another FANTASTIC stay at Camp Three Forks (see 2015 for park details). Owners and park hosts worked tirelessly to improve grounds and ensure we had a pleasant RVing experience. Mom & Pop park with no affiliations basically gives EVERYONE a great discount vs area competitors.

Many low-hanging limbs have been trimmed which was concerning some big rigs. Newly updated 50-amp, extra-long sites in back of park, can accommodate up to 45' coach with toad. 14 FHU sites; easy access dump station reserved for registered guests.

Owner takes great pride in keeping grass watered and landscaping was always lush. Park rules are clearly outlined at check-in and observed. Inexpensive firewood, ice and ice cream for sale. We used this as home base to travel to: Glacier, Phillipsburg, Yellowstone, Virginia City, and ALL places in-between. Days are mild and nights are cool, making this a great retreat from the 100+ degrees in Texas. Our 4th visit; we vacationed here several weeks in July-August and will be back next year! We camped at Camp Three Forks in a Travel Trailer.

We liked this campground about 30 miles west of Bozeman at the headwaters of the Missouri River. It appears to have been a KOA. There is plenty of shade, the ladies running the campground are very helpful, and they sell great ice cream at the office. When we were there, there were domestic rabbits running around the grounds...cute. It is near good trails and very doable hiking at the headwaters. Three Forks has some good restaurants. The campground attracts a fascinating mix of bicyclists, tent campers, foreign visitors, Class A's, trailers of all ages and 5th wheels.

Potential campers should be aware that many sites have no sewer, some are 30 amp. The sites nearest to the road are noisy but it is bearable. For me the biggest limitation was the men's room. I thought it needed serious renovation. It was cleaned daily, but the porcelain was permanently stained, but when you're in a space without sewer you have no choice. My wife said the women's room was fine, so.... Also, there was no cable, over-the-air TV was minimal.

We'd stay here again but farther from the road. Hopefully buy the the men's restroom and showers will be better. We camped at Camp Three Forks in a Fifth Wheel.
